Okay, me and my neighbor just danced naked under the moon emerging from the eclipse

I bet it's great getting naked outdoors in Hawaii. I'm jealous. If you'd been skinny dipping, I'd be even more jealous!

I had to have been a seal in a previous life.

Morning!

So far it's quiet here. Hubby is in his shop, Jessie is napping. It won't last though. Daughter is alone today, so I'm on call. Her hubby won't be back until early morning. Maybe I can sneak a little organizing in, lol.

That poor toe! I hope it heals quickly, sounds painful!

Stay safe and healthy

Well you know what to buy him next. Steel Cap Boots.
He actually did buy a pair the next day.

The Mjolnirs, it feels like about 32-35 watts. They're both on semi-regulated mods, so I can't tell you the exact wattage. I put 2.5mm, 26ga SS parallel coils in them, ohms at 0.3. I just tried one of them on a Minikin Reborn and 35 watts is on the highish end, like when the batteries I'm normally using are fully charged, so yeah, I think 32-35 is a decent guess. :)
Thanks a bunch! I'll give it a shot. I've just heard so many good things about it. I'm not sure I'll like it since I don't really care for single coil attys and lower wattage. We'll see. Thanks again for the info.

I'm glad to hear your daughter is back!

If it’s black and you don’t like it I’ll buy it from you. I’ve been watching for a black one but don’t want to deal with China anymore. Have an order in California for over a month. Don’t plan on ever getting it.

Rained most of the day here. Good because it saved me washing the car. Just parked it in the pouring rain for a few hours then drove on our wettest roads for 20 mins to clean the underneath and wash the bugs off of the grill mesh. Too easy. :)
Visited a patient in hospital and watched 3 episodes of the Three Stooges with him. :giggle:Had a good laugh.
Feel sorry for the Melbournians though. Some new covid cases recorded there, just 13, just 13 sounds so insignificant when you see whats happening in India and elsewhere but the state gov hits hyperdrive and sets the sirens off when they pop up so mask up time for them there again in poor ole Melbourne. Hopefully it doesn't grow, though with new strains and so many returning travelers its bound to happen and see more lockdowns.
Looking like we might lockdown again

And so are we up in the bush too now I saw even though in our district there are no cases or even exposure sites. I get it though given the new variant acts different to the others and who knows who went where from here as we have a lot of newbies living here from Melbourne as well as those escaped into the bush in camps coming into town to shop. Blew me away just driving to the shops and hospital the amount of 4wds with caravans and campers I saw going through town.
Went to visit one of the patients today just before we got locked out, as I write this im not allowed any visits till things change, and got him some goodies from the supermarket. It was pandemonium in there. I think I found the last parking spot there and inside it was trolleys full of bottled water and toilet paper! I felt out of place just buying chocolate and chips and a newspaper there. :giggle:
Stay safe Doggy. 👍

I think that the ring of steel is a nightmare to set up and maintain. So maybe just more practical to be state wide

Bit stronger than flu jab

I'd take the Moderna vaccine all day long over the last flu shot I had. I turned 65 last July, and over here, when you're 65 or over they give you the extra-nasty and painful flu jab. I read somewhere there is four times as much actual vaccine fluid in the over-65 shot. It hurt like the dickens for over a week, swelled up and got red and hot, I could hardly sleep for feeling my damn heartbeat in the place where I had it.

I hope you don't have to lock down again. This is getting so OLD for everybody. How is the vaccine response there? Are people just not willing to get it?

Looking forward to Friday. My mother is getting surgery on her broken wrist then, with plates, pins, bolts, and all. The sooner that gets done, the sooner she can get back to just being regular, normal, ornery self.

Poor Mom! She must have really done some serious damage to that wrist. I hope they give her some decent pain meds, because she's gonna need them.

I broke both bones in my left wrist back in about 1982. Sumbitch hurt like hell for weeks, but they didn't have to do surgery on it - they filled my hand up with novocaine and pulled it back into place. Every word of profanity I knew came out of my mouth right then, but after about a half hour, it settled down at least a little bit. It was hard to sleep, though, hard to bathe, hard to get dressed, and I had an eight-month-old baby to take care of at the time. I had a cast from my knuckles to the very top of my arm.

I sympathize in a big way with your Mom. I hope the surgery goes well.

yes

we don't yet have resources here to make mRNA locally. So the current deal is with oxforf/astrazenica linked with blood clots. So lots of people waiting on our supplies of moderna or wide spread pfizer

Well, we got adoptedView attachment 182376

His name is Fred - a little skinny but a real love. He wants his nards cut

You should tack "Astaire" onto the end of his name, as he looks very much like a tuxedo kitty! God, I'd love having a cat named Fred Astaire! lol

I bet he is a love. I think most every tuxedo I've ever seen was.

Morning!

Lucy, what a cutie! You've been chosen by a very classy looking gent.

Had a thunderstorm last night, sounded great but only a few drops of rain. We need the rain!

Hubby is leaving Monday for 9 days of fishing. He says peace and quiet. I think he really means not having Jessie wake him up at 4:30 in the morning, lol. She doesn't try to bother me in the morning when he's gone!

Be safe and stay healthy

We got adopted too recently. One of the "not our cats", the dusty cream orange and white mama was the cat. She sat in my lap and was looking to ask. Told her we could 'dopt her but it was her choice.

No sooner than I said that than she moved in to seal the deal. *smh* Adopt her but she runs off for two, or three days at a time. About half think she's the neighbor's cat, gets tired of them and runs over to us.

Not seen her for about a week now. Hoping she's okay. The neighbor also recently got rid of their pig, horse. Now, they got a beehive. "Oh, something else they can kill," my wife said noticing it.

Horse and pig were fun to watch together. Horse would nip pigs tail and ass. Pig would run all over the pen carrying on. Horse just stood there laughing. Terrible thing, they took pig away first and left horse alone for a few weeks. Thought I was depressed, ...

My mother got through her surgery just fine, just the usual nausea related symptoms from anesthesia. Brought her home last night, and got help from my sister and neighbors getting her in the house. 230 lbs of dead weight is more than a hand full for one person when her legs would not cooperate.

Had to have my sister help to get her in bed til my back went out, then she had to call for help. Things are going much better this morning. Her legs are working again, and my back is on the road to recovery again.

Ah, his own last name, good idea!

We already have Dr Edgar Balzac , so why not Fred Astaire?

He is currently living in a box under the house as the assholes precious kitties we already have won't let him in, but seem okay with him being in the yard. He desperately wants to be in the house with us though

Fred will have to get past this 17-pound, polydactyl, Ballsack first, who as of right now says no, lol

View attachment 182409

He looks like he's part Maine C.o.o.n, and if he's anything like mine, he is a sweetheart to people and an absolute devil to other cats. My Mo (short for Mo'Toes, cause he's polydactyl, too) is so damn territorial, especially over food, we have to make sure there are two food dishes spaced a good way apart, otherwise he will try to run our Mitzi off so she can't eat. He's a right asshole to her.

Jackson Galaxy (from Animal Planet's "My Cat From Hell") would suggest that you keep them separated indoors, but feed them on either side of a closed door for a couple of weeks, so they can get used to the smell of "other cat." Then you open the door and use some kind of a gate so they can't kill each other, but still feed them on either side of the gate. He says that helps associate the pleasure of eating with the scent of the other cat, and it's easier to get them to tolerate each other. Theoretically, they eventually get used to each other to the point that you don't have to keep them separated any more.

Ballsack is a flame point cross; he is great with female cats, but loves to fight with other males period, which is why we have three girls and only one boy, lol. One of the females, Girlfriend, has gotten very alpha lately and is kinda the final word in the cat union though

The indoor cats are fine with Fred outside, but get pissy when he tries to come in

He seems happy enough to live in a box under the house for now; whether or not they ever let him in is another story - we'll see if it works out

We put up found pets online, CL, FB etc. and notified SPCA and two other cat rescue orgs in the area, but so far no bites on anyone trying to get him back

It is highly likely he was dumped :(

The last cat cat I had (and liked) was one that was born of a feral female. There was a bet that I could not catch any of the kittens. I caught one. A male bobtail gray tabby that I had purring within minutes.

He was picked on so much by other cats in the area while growing up, he got an attitude, but always came back to me when I called his name "Monster", which soon fit. When he grew to adult size, he beat up the the other males relentlessly. I saw him chase one up a tree, and knock it onto the road below, bleeding.

When we moved to another town, we could not remove him from his territory. If he is still alive, he would be 17 by now. I still miss my killer kitty.

So... this evening, I dragged out the mower. The lawn was getting pretty shaggy after all the rain. In our front yard, I discovered something that should not have been there. I am used to snakes slithering away, especially tiny ones. This one, maybe 16 inches long coiled up and looked straight at me.

I figured "OK, screw you", and mowed the little bastard. Looks like eastern diamondback baby rattlesnake to me.

Well, I am from Texas, with a bit of a red neck. I protect my own, and thank goodness that snake was not in the back yard with the dogs. One of the schnauzers had already been bit, and we took him to the vet for treatment.

Yeah they are a pain around dogs. Our staffy we had got nailed by a brown snake, highly venomous, and as I wasnt home the neighbor took the misses and him to the vet. Just a few minute drive from us but he only just made it convulsing and frothing at the mouth just 2 minutes after the bites. Got sick of the hassle in summer of them with pets so we decided not to get another dog where we are.

We were told our dog was lucky he had been bit on the muzzle. Anywhere else, and he might not have lived. He still looked very sick for about 6 weeks after being treated by the vet.
I also own a 5 foot snake grabbing tool. It's handy for most snakes I find. Some go in the smoker. Yep. When, life gives ya rattlesnakes, cook em up. Big pythons are good too. Not sure about the Aussie snakes. You might do a little research and see which ones you can put on your plate.

Im not game to try catching ours unless I had to. :giggle:
I had one hit my boot once, another a 6 footer brown slowly slither over my foot mid step. A friend was killed by a Taipan in Qld sadly several yrs ago. I like seeing them just dont mess with them. In my area the majority are venomous and I cant recall seeing a non venomous one really. I used to camp and hunt a lot yrs ago. Make snares, trap, the lot, from my childhood. If it hit the fan I know id survive no issues even without a gun. I'v been in all the bush areas in central vic hunting, fishing, prospecting and know it like the back of my hand. My dad actually taught me how to tickle fish too.
But unless I have to im happy to go shopping for my food these days other than fish. 👍
As a teenager a friend's mum had an exotic food shop. We tried curried rattle snake, chocolate coated grasshoppers, fried baby bees, curried witchety grubs and fried ants.
Iv caught witchety grubs myself and cooked them when I used to be bothered to and they are really nice. The rattle snake was nice I recall. The others were edible crunchy things. You'd eat them if you were hungry but nothing special taste wise.

Morning!

Wow, you guys can just keep all of those snakes! I don't like any of the creepy-crawlies, slithery-type things. Kitties, puppies, I like the ones I can cuddle with.

We still have some pretty good storms going, now under a flood watch. Better than the tornado watch! Hubby is looking up his route to the lake to make sure it's all clear. Jessie knows that he's getting ready to leave, she is NOT happy!

Stay safe and healthy

I'd hit a baby rattlesnake with a mower in a heartbeat if I saw one. Same goes for the copperheads and moccasins that are more common here where we live. @Lady Sarah maybe you folks should get a goat or two. A goat can play hell on a snake. I'd bet money on the goat just about every time! lol

Some of the areas where I used to go fishing just ain't worth the effort anymore. Too many water moccasins around. I'd spend too much time plinking at them, besides, anything I'd catch can't be put in any basket or on a stringer. The bastards would kill my catch.
I freaked out a bit one day. After I pulled up a basket and chopped up a moccasin, I saw an 18 foot python slither along the bank. We don't get snakes that big around here. Bigger than what I've seen on the show "Swamp People". Dang thing was as big around as a tree trunk. That would have been good eats if I could have killed it. I don't go fishing there anymore.

Yeah id be steering clear of places like that too.
There are places here I only detect in winter because of the heavy snake populations in summer. There's a spot I want to go to as its now winter but can't because of our idiot lockdown treating us in the bush with low population density and wide open spaces and zero covid cases the same as Melbourne that has all the cases. Its infuriating being where we are and only allowed a 5 km travel limit and 2 hours recreation/exercise time.
We are being treated like criminals in home detention. The only thing we dont have are ankle bracelet gps trackers fitted.
Anyway...rant over. :)
There are huge scrub pythons like that in central to north Queensland. We saw one like you did when we were there. Was a freaky feeling standing near it.
That'd be a lot of meat!
What fish do you fish for there?

At that fishing area, I was catching bass and crappie. They both go for the same bait and lures. My mom was at a different spot catching the little catfish we call pollywogs. Most other areas are so full of carp and turtles, you wouldn't catch anything but. My hubby and I finally got a boat, right before the Covid crap hit, so we didn't bother getting it registered yet. We figured it ain't worth paying a yearly fee for something the state won't let us use. Same for the fishing licenses. We ain't bought any since the pandemic hit.
Forget about eating the turtles. They taste nasty. The carp are so bony, they ain't worth it unless you catch a really big one... and I mean big enough to fillet on site. Last time I did that, a game warden asked me about the bag of fish meat in the cooler. I showed him the pile of remains to prove it was carp. We used the entrails as bait.

We get European Carp here in places. I have seen so many fish for them but never tried one. All I see fish for them are European themselves. I asked a few times if they ate them and they said yes. So I purposely caught one about 10lb. Oh no way. As soon as I started filleting it the smell near made me sick and I threw it. Nope not happening.
Garbage fish.
I once tried to save a turtle that had come out of a dam here and was on the road. The moment I picked it up it sprayed me with the most sickening urine smell, any smell, I have smelt. All over my shirt and pants. I dropped it, went to the car, stripped and threw them in the boot then bin at home. Id have to be near death to consider trying to eat one. 🤮

At a park, we tried fishing at a creek bank. We used to catch decent sized catfish there, but no more. Something else moved in. These critters have a nasty temperament, and get downright big. What's worse, is that they are protected by state law. The alligator snapping turtle.

the pic was a download. I caught 2 of these bastards, big as a 5 gallon bucket, and had to release them back into where I caught them.

Got the Johnson & Johnson last Tuesday. Same day I got out of hospital... spent 3 days in ICU and another 5 in regular because something seriously fucked up my liver and they don't know what it was yet (I'm guessing it must be popcorn liver).

Wow. I saw a fishing show once with one of those bite a finger size stick in half. Another member here too told me they stop people from swimming where they are.
That thing is nasty on steroids! That's a seriously ugly keep out of the water monstrosity in my opinion.
I watched Mighty Rivers last night. Its by Jeremy Wade a world famous freshwater big fish fisherman. Last night was on the health of the Mississippi. Saw that some areas are crazy with the Chinese jumping carp. Are those the carp that are an issue in your area? It was nuts how many were flying out of the water from just noise. Heaps were jumping into the boat too. Loved those alligator gars though, huge, you get them at all in your area?

We don't have jumping carp here, just the kind that eat your bait. We have some alligator gar not too many. Mostly needlenose gar. Some get big enough the scales might get mistaken for shark teeth, at about an inch long and 3/4" wide, and a good 1/8" thick. The biggest I caught was 4 feet long. They put up a good fight, and once they do a gator roll, and wrap themselves up in your line, they can't get away.

Morning!

All is well here. Jessie is such a good girl, she guards and snuggles. She's missing Hubby. He's having a good time at the lake. Catching large mouth bass on baits that he made!

South end of town is flooded. Had 5 inches of fast rain and then a berm dam collapsed. Glad I live in the end! Yes we need the water, but not all at once.

Stay safe and healthy

A 4 footer would be awesome! Good to eat?
