Funny, how we are all so different. I just didn't gel with the SQ217. Granted, I didn't give it a great run. Maybe 3 bottles through it. But, not for me, personally

The red below is my current go to. The black, the incoming 21700

Yep, I love the 18650 raised skull on the door. I am still browsing around trying to find a STL file for a door for the 217. It's always nice to have a different option and I can't be buying a door that's $50 plus. Nope, not happening :) I tried contacting zapwrapz several times via email to see if they still ship to the US as I could always put a skin on the door as they do sell them. But they never replied ( I think I sent 3 emails ) Meh, they don't want my money I guess. lol
I played with building an STL for the 217 some, but can't get the finger cutouts to line up right. I am not great with building the 3d objects to spec like that yet, but I am still working on it.

Nice - I've eyeballed those a few times. Let us know how you like it!

So far, good. Hits very nicely and feels great in the hand. It's a little big for a '650 squonker - about the same size as my 20700 Rig mech squonk.

I'd have a blue one in that pic as well had I reacted quickly enough on another forum. The blue one needed a little TLC but was stupid cheap and went quickly.

So your the one that got it. I was disappointed as fuk missn that 1.

Yeah, and HMM has NONE listed for sale on their website. I know 'cause I looked yesterday. That's a mod I've wanted for a long time, but I want a blue one, and I've never seen one for sale when I had the money to buy it. My timing sucks.

You might be a squonker if you have a box full of various BF 510 bits, contacts and other hardware.

Where so you get the extra parts? I have a couple squonkers I'd like to keep for the long haul and some spare parts would be great.

Various places. Some of the bits are from clone squonkers I butchered for parts (generally not very good parts, lol). I've purchased other stuff from Varitube, Modmaker, Fasttech...

Thanks to a super awesome VU member, I was given a Rig mech squonk with a pretty gnarly 510 solder repair. The Rig has a wire for the positive contact and I'm assuming it must have broken at some point, hence the solder job.

I removed the existing 510 and positive contact wire, installed a Fasttech BF 510 I got in the mail today (scrounged the bottom knurled nut from my parts box - the FT 510 comes with a smooth nut). Replaced the wire with a copper contact. It's kind of janky - you have to put the atty on first to extend the spring loaded pin, then put the battery in and finally snug up the bottom nut. I really wanted to get it running.

I didn't have quite the combination of stuff in my parts box to get a working solution without the FT 510. The 510 threads directly into the giant copper negative contact. The FT 510 was threaded correctly (thank goodness) and was the right length. The stock 510 is a FDV V4, I'm pretty sure. A more permanent fix will be in the works.

It hits harder than my stock Rig and harder than my newly acquired HMM mod.

I was in Teams meetings all afternoon and threw this together to pass the time, lol.

And because I’m feeling industrious today, I took my Topside dual apart. It’s been dormant for a long time due to the busted battery door issue.

I ordered a new door and body shell from Dovpo and figured I’d get the disassembly out of the way so I can be sure to lose some of the parts.

I'm looking at ordering bottle assembly/kits for the SQ Topside and Topside dual mods. I'd be buying directly from Dovpo. Not sure if we could reach a quantity discount or not but we could probably save some shipping costs.

Slow boat shipping is $10, DHL is $20. I ordered a replacement body shell and battery door from Dovpo on 7/15 shipped via DHL and it's supposed to be here on Friday, for what it's worth. Not sure how shipping costs are affected by weight, if at all.

SQ bottle kits are $24.99
Topside 90W/dual kits are $14.99

The SQ bottle kits I have not been able to find anywhere else. The Topside 90W/dual bottles are available from a couple of US vendors at around $12 but the shipping kills it if you just want a single bottle. I'm also guessing that once those bottles are gone, they are gone for good.

We could certainly add in other stuff as well. The Topside dual body shell and door kits are $12. Green SQ Topside mods are $99 (I may actually add one to my order). There are some other decent deals as well.

I guess if there are enough interested folks, I could do a proper group buy thread in the co-op sub and reach out directly to a Dovpo rep. I doubt we'll get that many folks though. I'm just hoping we can put together a few folks and perhaps share some of the shipping costs from China.

I'd be willing to coordinate the order and distribute the merch once it is stateside. So, you would need to factor in First Class or Priority Mail shipping from me.

Some tinkering on Saturday morning... I received this Galactika clone as part of a trade several years ago. It had a super janky 510 so I just tossed it in the vape junk drawer. It sat there until this morning when I decided to put a $3.00 Fasttech spring loaded BF 510 in it (same 510 I used for my Rig Mod revival).

It works perfectly, lol. The FT 510 was the ideal fit. Thing hits hard too. Body is delrin and door is real CF. I might have $10 into this mod.

I found two "toseed right into a box, still in the box" mods recently while packing up to move. One of 'em, like yours, is a clone of a Galactika. Not sure where/why I got that - I love my old Galactikas, and wouldn't likely buy a clone...maybe I was checking the general design before getting a real one? No clue. The other one, I remember - it ticked me off that BOTH front and back just fall right off, unless there's a battery in. But it's solid Alum...

You've motivated me to maybe screw around with them this weekend!

I'm really not trying to be an ass, but you might want to take a look at that battery wrap. Looks like there might be a torn wrap near the bottom and it's mighty close to the battery contact.

Looks like you did a great job on the 510. I wouldn't have the foggiest clue how to replace one.

And already, that "Icarus" is nothing but a pretty box.
It's like no one put it together and tried it out.
Contact just hits the 51o pin, and has no spring-back, but relies entirely on bottle pressure.
Back door needs a gasket or glue or something - squonk and it'll pop out.
Someday maybe if I'm really bored...I'd have to do an entire guts-replacement...
Oh well. :grumpy:

I have both of those same clones. The Galactica is pretty decent,i used a dremel and made the squonk hole bigger, and its much better than how it came. That Icarus is just a horrible piece of shit haha.On mine, when you install the battery, one of the 2 doors will wobble because they didn't get the measurements right, the contacts suck, and the 510 sucks,i got it planning to replace internals, but after the horrible wobble with the doors,I've never touched it again.

I also had the Icarus. I put a MM 510 in it and made copper contacts. It worked fine after that but the doors constantly fell off.

That's exactly how I had planned to do mine, but because of the doors not fitting right,I never even started.I have thought about grinding channels in the inside of the doors,so they fit with the battery better, then install new magnets, but ive never made it that far,as I lost interest pretty quick haha.

I ended up taking the MM 510 out to use in something else. I think the shell is still in my garage. I was going to cut orange plexiglass doors but ran out of interest.

How is the Duet? Thinking about adding the SXK version to my next slow boat order.
I like the look (some people don't). I like that it's got a little more air than the recent Haku stuff (Riviera and Venna), which I never bought, because I like OLD Haku stuff, that had more air.

I've only run one build in it so far, so it's not really a fair evaluation, but it runs with a lot of "sizzzzzle". Smooth, but kinda noisy, lol. And I wish it had a flat top, so I could put one of my fatter drip tips on it, like I do with a Haku Cruiser.

Basically - it's a real nice RDA, probably worth getting. But I'm not sure I like it better than the old Haku Cruisers and Phenoms. If you like more air, and don't have one of those, get one of those (there's an SXK).

nice, train

meanwhile, i think that i am asking too much for my mod in the classifieds

most vapers now view squonkers in with provaris and silver bullets

and sure, *i* paid $1400 australian dollars, but $200 of that was import tax. So intl's wouldn't pay that

maybe i should just keep it? i could go a bit lower than current $600aud ($450ish usd) but i'm not sure if i want to

damned fickle market
