It will be in the 100's for at least a week here in the San Joaquin Valley. So glad we got a new AC system this year.

Had my first post-op check up yesterday. He removed the wound vac aka fart machine so I don't have to listen to that. We called it the fart machine because my wife accused me of farting last Monday. I said nope it was just the machine doing it's thing.

Physical Therapist said I was doing well for one week after surgery. I'm not using the walker, just a cane now. He gave me exercises to do 2 to 3 times a day and one of the team will see me again Friday.

Youngest daughter is now moved into the new house! Since she is rural she is using StarLink internet from Elon Musk and her work is paying for it. My grandson finally has room to roam! Their previous house was smaller than some hotel rooms I've stayed in.

All in all things are good for the gopher clan.

Thank you, you're to kind

Keep on smiling

The movie "Ghost World" is one of my faves. One of the characters in it was a seller of vintage vinyl records, so the music in the film was very eclectic. I had to have this once I heard it, but I don't have a record player, so I bought the download:

A Smile and a Ribbon

In fact the scene in which Thora Burch (forget the name of her character in the movie) is packing to leave town, still trying to figure out why she's in this world, full of sadness. I'll break the link, so as not to take up too much space, in case anybody wants to put the link together and see it.

Ghost World was based on a comic book series, like a Batman or Superman movie is, but with more depth I think. The screenplay was excellent. I found it very moving and engaging. I think maybe I related to the misfit characters in it. It had Scarlett Johansen in it too.

Anyway, it's free now on TubiTV:

The opening scene of Jaan Pehechaan Ho from the movie Gumnaam is another curiosity used to represent brilliance in a dull, slow motion world.

Hey look what I found crawling around in my basement

P1460090.JPG

She's a big wolf spider

P1460091.JPG

I had to give her a budge to get her to climb onto my hand

P1460094.JPG

I got her to go in my hand so you can get a better idea of size.

Jean made me take her outside. Wolf spiders usually don't try to bite people but sure do scare Jean, she kills them when she sees them  .

You've got strong nerves, letting that thing climb on your hand. I don't know when fear of spiders kicks in for people. You hear of babies picking them up off the floor, cats playing with them (torturing them).

But spiders are interesting. One day on my walk I noticed a spider walking right alongside me in a bare dirt trench between the sidewalk and a garden wall. It was a big one, maybe as big as the palm of my hand, black, with a cross on its back, a beautiful beige gothic cross, like something you might see on a biker t-shirt. I've never before seen one like that. I watched and watched, hoping spider would start up the white stucco wall so I could get a better look at her and the portable art on her back. She never changed course, and continued alongside me. I believe she knew she was being watched. I believe she knew she was safe.

Now, what you call a wolf spider is different than what they call a wolf spider here. Here, they're tiny little things the size of a thumbnail, with short legs. They kind of remind me of tiny crabs, and they are full of personality. They like people. It's the only spider I can tolerate having around. There are years when they're around, other years you never see one. One of them will play on my desk for week. I'll sweep it off, and it parachutes on its silk and comes back up on my desk, "wheee! Let's do that again". But finally it will freak me out by being on the phone when I answer the ring, and it gets itself killed. I know, 😥😢. One time I swatted one with rolled up paper. As he limped away, I swear, he turned back and looked at me, "I thought we were friends ". We were friends, but then I smashed him again so he wouldn't stay alive all crippled and suffering.

Thank you  for being concerned. It's been so crazy busy around here, but I'm good :) .
Mamma, babies, Duke and home is keeping me on my toes..... I'm tired.
Yesterday, I was on here twice trying to post, but Duke had other plans for me. He's asleep right now, lol.
Trying to train kitties to use litter box while they are outside, it's quite a chore, lol. Plus, trying to get them to know the inside of the home and get use to the doggies, it's a whole other thing in itself. Just so they will be ready to be inside kitties....not outside kitties for, hopefully, when they will go to good homes. My brother and nephew will be, hopefully, taking Tickle :) (Grey color)

This is the first time ever we've had any kind of babies, so it's been all new to us. Didn't know we were supposed to feed Mamma Cali kittie canned food and not dry or canned adult food. She was in very bad shape after giving birth. She was so very skinny and had diarrhea bad. Once we found out about the kittie canned food and feeding her chicken, it took a month for her to gain weight and being healthy. We felt horrible that we caused her such grief
While that was going on with Mamma Cali, we tried a new natural way to battle ticks and fleas for the doggies. Duke started to have diarrhea, but Emma did fine. Duke is doing better :)
Some how, not sure how, Cali is going to be inside. We have to get her spayed. In our minds, we don't know how she will not tear the stitches open .....she jumps, climbs on everything, hunts for food and whatever else she does that we don't know about. The problem is Emma, we did have two inside cats before and Emma was fine with them. But, Emma is having problems with the kitties, so how is she going to react with Cali and vise versa for Cali. We don't want Cali pregnant again and once she is done weaning the babies she will be in heat again  :gaah:.... didn't know that about cats, all our cats have been neutered and spayed.

@gopher_byrd , glad you are doing well with your new improved hip :bliss: . Please, don't over do it

Lot, I have a lot of Likes to give :teehee:
I will get to them....soon and :hug:s to Everyone

When I was a kid my aunt lived in Tucson and when we went to visit we always went out into the desert to look for turquoise and would come across tarantulas and I would pick them up, even had one for a pet back in the day, so a small one like this is nothing'
