Aspirin Cuts Pancreatic Cancer Risk

Regular low-dose aspirin helps prevent heart attacks and strokes, but now there’s even more evidence of aspirin’s benefits.

According to a recent study, men and women who take low-dose aspirin regularly cut their risk of developing pancreatic cancer by nearly half — 49%. Not only that, but the longer a person takes aspirin, the greater the risk reduction.

Special: 5 Simple Ways to Maximize the Health of Your Heart

Protection against pancreatic cancer ranged from a 60% risk reduction for those who took aspirin for more than 10 years to a 39% reduction for those who took it six years or less, researchers said.

The study was conducted in 30 hospitals in Connecticut, where researchers contrasted the aspirin-taking habits of 362 people with pancreatic cancer with 690 healthy people in a control group. Other factors including obesity, smoking, and diabetes history were taken into account.

This study adds to the evidence that aspirin therapy could become an important tool in cancer prevention. Research has already found that aspirin helps protect against colorectal cancer. This study shows there’s a potential benefit against pancreatic cancer — one of the deadliest of cancers.

Experts recommend patients take one low-dose (81 mg) aspirin daily. For people over 50 who do not have heart disease, the recommendation is to take the same dose a few times a week, a regimen that will still offer protection while minimizing any potential adverse side effects.

I'm seeing more and more of them here in the PRC. Not on me mind you, but even on people outside with no one around them. This is so sad to see. I went to Home Depot today and most of the associates were wearing masks and I even saw a double masker with gloves.

Reduce Heart Damage With Hesperidin

Studies have shown hesperidin to be very useful for protecting the heart against the effects of prolonged high blood pressure, which if left untreated can cause the heart to enlarge and eventually fail.

The compound also protects against atrial fibrillation, an arrhythmia in which the heart beats rapidly and with incredible irregularity. Atrial fibrillation is a major cause of death in people with heart disease.
