We got home from vacation yesterday. We went on a fishing party boat 80 miles out in the gulf. Hubby caught 3 decent size red snappers. I foul hooked 1 little bitty one that needed to be released. Since there was a limit of 2 per person, I was given one of hubby's and one from someone else that caught more than their limit.
I did get to see a whale breech, while people were busy catching fish. Back in the canal, we saw dolphins, which was also cool. Getting pics of them wasn't happening. But, we got pics of other stuff we just don't see where we live.

I love the Gulf. Hope we'll be able to go back to the Gulf side of Florida in the spring. When we can get ourselves together to go, we try to go in March so we can see the manatees in the bays and rivers inland from the Gulf itself, and it isn't so damn hot down there yet.

Just about the most fun thing I ever did was go on an airboat ride through those backwaters leading out to the Gulf. The guy who captained our boat was a lunatic, and he drove that thing right wide open most of the time. It was huge fun and everybody got soaking wet.

Morning!

I'm getting tired of the heat, stay inside most of the time. Can't change it. So much of the country is the same, and so many don't have A/C. I do my errands early!

Son-in-law is coming over today to help move a few things for me, he is so good. I need to ask him about how to download some you tube videos, as some of our vape videos have "disappeared". I made him chocolate chip cookies and lunch, which he loves.

Ok, I'm going to get back to my sewing, with my audiobook to keep me company.

Sarah - your trip looks great! Glad you had a wonderful and relaxing time.

Stay safe and healthy :inlove::hug:

Jealous LS. I've lived 3 miles from the beach for 10 years and am yet to see a whale

Did see a dolphin 2 or 3 years ago
I did a little research to find out what type of whale I may have seen. It was most likely the beaked whale, otherwise known as the giant bottlenose whale.
IMG_20220715_213733.jpg

This whale would have been at least as long as the tri-hull boat we were on.

Amazing

I can't help but think that it resembles a clumsy pixaar character though. From the pic

One month update on the hip replacement surgery.

My hip is getting better day by day. Still some stiffness and a little pain, but nothing like before the surgery. I can actually walk up stairs using both legs which I could not do for the last two years. I have 15 stairs to navigate from the family room to my bedroom, so that is a big thing. I'm doing the exercises the PT had me doing and taking at least two 15+ minutes walks everyday. Used to be one 10 minute walk was a struggle.

"Too cold to snow" is in the teens Fahrenheit and below, at least that's when I've heard people use that phrase. 50s F is shirt-sleeve weather here. But I believe that our summers here are a lot more temperate than yours, so we aren't used to that heat.

We got some unpleasant news today. Since we have not been feeling very well since returning from Galveston, we got ourselves checked for the rona. We both tested positive. The only good thing is that the current strain is not supposed to be nearly as bad as the strains that came before. Hubby has to use another week of vacation time because of it tho.

Hubby is getting the worst of it, pretty much all of the symptoms. All I get is sinus symptoms like I get with my allergies. Both of us got prescription meds to fight it tho.

I'm really sorry to hear this for you and Phil. I hope you both feel better very soon.

Hubbs and I both had the flu at the same time once. It was not pretty at our house. Neither of us are good patients. Don't know about your husband, but I can imagine that you aren't a very good patient either, knowing how active you are most of the time. You might have to let your projects sit for a week or so while you look after yourself with some good rest and sleep, and a little running and fetching for him at least some of the time, which I imagine you'll do, since he's feeling worse than you. Hang in there....

After rehoming the pit I am horribly allergic to, we finally found a fantastic deal on a hypoallergenic puppy. $25 for an aussiedoodle is a damn good price anywhere. We followed Rona protocols. I even made hubby wash his hands, which he seldom does.

We have not named him yet. It may take a few days before we do. He is 10 weeks old, and his first vet appt will be after we clear the Rona.

Phone and internet company are letting us down. No phone at all since Friday. Internet is hit and miss. Maybe a tech will show up tomorrow.

Pup went to the vet today for shots and microchip today. He did very well. He is also responding well to the name I gave him. He is such a smart little Doctor.

The tech showed up. Found out the representative actually turned off our phone when hubby called about the internet service interruptions. Not sure if intentional or accidental. They had to replace a length of line in the alley between 2 poles that was the cause of the internet interruptions. They will likely need to replace more, as all the lines here are vintage.

Been here for 4 months and I finally had a hummingbird show up yesterday. Might be because of all the damn construction noise and workers. :) I know it's tough to see her, but it's a female ruby throated. I guess there are only like 3 types here.

Morning!

Before I forget, hi Deb! Glad to see you again!

Ok, it's just hot. Besides the A/C, I have a fan in the living room where I spend most of my time. It helps keep the A/C bill down. Guess who lays right in the middle of the floor in front of it? Not me, I'd never get back up, lol. There she is, fur flying in the breeze, loose cat hair blowing everywhere! I have brushed her so much, too.

So, how are you all doing? It's been quiet in here.....

Stay safe and healthy :hug::inlove:

Morning and thanks :hug:Hot here too and I am not used to living where there is humidity. It's icky. Haven't been doing too much other than looking for a house that is bigger than this little rental I'm in. But I was still grateful for this place and being able to get out of that terribly cold area (Lake Erie) in the dead of winter.
Working on finishing up a package today of some juice and an RDA for a buddy. That's it for today. I can relate to the fur blowing everywhere. 3 kitties and 2 dogs and it's everywhere I look. You're right too, it doesn't seem to matter how much I brush them, it just keeps coming, lol.

"Old" just wouldn't cut it here. We moved here back in 2011, and there were cables hanging from poles back then. Those cables are still there. The line that was replaced... they said it was "dead". Yet, we had internet through it. Granted, it went on and off erratically, but they claimed it was completely dead. OK, so maybe these cables are haunted?

Let's top that! The line running from the pole to the house has markings showing it to be over 20 years old. The company told us it is better than what they use now.

Fair warning: this is another of those project posts.

With the new puppy around, we have been putting up a scrap piece of board blocking him from 3 rooms of the house. I bumped into it once, but hubby has tripped over it at least once every single day. We could close the bathroom and bedroom doors, but one room has a fridge that will burn up if we close the door since we do not have an air conditioning unit in that room. It's a new fridge, but we don't have room elsewhere.
I came up with a solution that cost nothing. I still had an end from a child's bunk bed out in the shed, as well as some other new looking scrap lumber. I had got rid of all the old looking and rotten stuff earlier in the year. I made a gate to fit the door opening to replace the door to that room, and we can close the other doors.

Hubby does not know yet.

Just stopping by....

Broke my toe, which sucks. But, thought some of ya older farts would get a laff on the name of the doctor who saw me at hospital....😜

Wasn't that an e-liquid flavor? I think I ruminated over trying to clone that at one time!

Sorry to hear that you're injured. Care to share how it happened? PM me if you have time, ok?

It's been a year since my mom passed away. Will be going out to the cemetary to wire a wreath I made to the arch over the bench. Since someone stole the plastic doves I put out there (she loved birds) I'll be wiring 2 more to the arch in a way that will make them much harder to steal. Yeah, some have absolutely no respect for the dead.
