Morning!

We had 3 nights and 2 days of steady, light rain! It felt so good. I had the doors open and aired out the house, smelled good, too. Jessie spent a lot of time on the deck just enjoying. I still haven't been able to find out how many inches we got, but at least no flooding here in town. I did take the van out of the carport the first day and let the rain wash it for me, lol.

Stay safe and healthy ..:inlove::hug:

Tore apart my hall coat closet looking for a set of hex drivers, decided F-it and just went through it all and organized a bit. Ya, that classic red toolbox is from the 50s or 60s...belonged to a friend of mine who moved away and gave it to me in like 1996. it'd belonged to his dad back in the day. It's a treasured thing, and practical too.

Strong as hell, I've stood on it as a stepstool before..lol...fricking old-skool steel. Not made in China... ; )

Found a set of Looney Tunes/McDonalds Barry Sanders cups from like 1995...maybe worth something now?

Morning!

It's raining!!! Storms started last night and it's off and on raining now, I'll take it! Doors are open, Jessie is watching through the screen. It smells good and I can feel my skin absorbing the moisture.

I'm still staying busy in my own way, only go out when I need to. Still reading, beading, forums, etc. And Jessie! She's good at keeping me in line, lol.

Stay safe and healthy  :inlove:

My daughter in AZ was telling me the other day how green everything is in her area, because of it being toward the tail-end of monsoon season. This is her first year there, so she has been really shocked by how the rain behaves, and how it can create rushing rivers in no time flat.

We saw some of that when we lived in Savannah. Deluges of rain can create rushing water there, too, but it's because the water table is so close to the surface of the ground. I think most all coastal areas have those same conditions. We encountered a rain storm in Pensacola once where it began to rain at about 10 pm, and over the next 10 hours or so, 17 inches of rain fell. EVERYTHING was flooded. We couldn't get to my stepdad's house without driving through water that was deeper than the tops of my tires! And it took months for all that water to recede.

first appointment with new psychologist (talk therapist) tomorrow (thursday)

i sent some questions with the online intake form

Questions for psychologist

  • Describe your levels of assertiveness
  • Do you feel that it is important to “push” patients?
    • If “Yes”, to what extent?
  • How much experience do you have that is directly relevant to my circumstances?
  • I don’t need a lifestyle coach. Things like sleep are indicators, not tools. Discuss
  • Tell me specifically about your approach to OCD
  • Tell me specifically about your approach to trauma
  • Do you often "Watch and wait" without informing the client that you have a hunch?
  • Is there anything which you are inflexible about? (IE: People need to sleep on a 24 hour cycle, Maintain social circles etc)
  • Do you view anything at all in your practice as set in stone, unchangeable?
  • Are you comfortable with long periods of silence during appointments?
  • Do you give homework? What type?
  • Can I give you written material out of session? How do you respond to written material out of session?
  • Describe your role, as a psychologist
  • Describe my role, as your client
  • By the time we meet, I will have spent countless hours imagining ways this session will end in violence. Tearing your hair out in clumps, stomping on your throat etc
  • Describe a scenario within psychology (talk therapy) which you personally view as Coercive Practice
  • "Cucumber" is a safe word. If this is said, the topic changes instantly. Without a single word
  • Do you enjoy your job?

they rang soon after, to offer shortened appointment via telehealth. Just to field questions and build safety

we settled on keeping the 65 minute f2f. But devoting it to sarah answering questions, telling me about her approach, auditioning, building safety

$245 with $88 rebated by our socialised medicine medicare

i don't have high hopes. My experience (6 previous failures) is that they obsess about sleep, life style etc, with nothing useful

but... medical team convinced me to try

Glad you're doing well..it's still gonna be in the 90s-100s right into Sept. here...arrghh!
Mine is a 2nd floor Apt, and with no screen doors, so I can't open anything excepting cracking a window just like an inch. Milly is strong and would knock the crappy old screens out anyways.

It's 40' to concrete if she did...😱
Or, worse, she gets out and on the street where cars literally race down the side streets at freeway speeds. Or, methheads would kill her for fun. There are no animals around here that aren't on a leash.

So, I'm jealous! But, glad for you and Jessie. :)

I hope it goes better than you expect. I would think it would be difficult to know right off if you've found the right person - but might not be so difficult if it's obvious that it's the wrong person. I'll hope for the best for you.

Dad gave me a really nice looking stein he got from his casino...all shiny black ceramic and gold. I dig it. :)

20220830_161110~2.jpg

Yeah, he gets a lot of freebies, but was nice to think of me.

*crappy quicky pic, it has condensation on it and so looks sort of odd with the flash.

Must be good karma...Mariners trouncing Detroit ATM.....7-0. :D

Hey - I just Googled that place a couple days ago!!
(Cuz I'm romping around in the general area for work, and was wondering if I might have a chance to get out and play cards. Looks like, probably "no". lol

It's a nice biiiig casino...hella foods, a hotel, etc. Even has a Whataburger.

Lots of jobs around in every field...warehousing, construction, trucking, retail, AMZ, Wal-Mart, you name it. Besides the usual jobs sites, here's the local CL postings...careful on those though...

Then, there is the Spokane Valley, which is a separate city, Idaho is 20min away, etc.
Apartments and houses are crazy $$$ though...I'm basically being priced out of my Apt of nearly ten years....they could get double what I can afford.

Sipping a liter mug of ice water and ice-cold Cheladas with Salvadorean Jalisco pepper sauce, my Mariners are whomping on the Tigers...again, and the the AC is working well on a 100F day...life could be worse. :)

But yeah...it's way too hot for me....

Yep. Looks like Texas temperatures. Except we are getting rain all week, which we are in desperate need of. Our lawn is still brown. The only reason the new hibiscus is still alive is because I saved rain water in 2 250 gallon totes, so I can water it without using water from the town's water supply, which has chemicals that would likely kill it.

Old people get confused easily. I have first hand knowledge this is fact and I'm reminded on a daily basis, lol.
Amen to that...then add computers...

I'm watching the Mets-Dodgers game from a BT Sports feed of a Spectrum live feed, using a Japanese server because geoblock is a thing...sometimes I forget where/when I am..lol

Screenshot from 2022-09-01 15-52-41.png

But, I get awesome commercials....

Spent the afternoon digging out and attempting to boot/work on my old comps from like 1998-2003. To see if any have PII info or worth keeping....

We're talking PII, PIII, K6II 550, ETC....

ARRGHHHHH!!!

I've come to the conclusion that my 5yo phone is more powerful than all of them put together. 😜😳😬

Go figure....The Gateway Slot1 PII 200mmx...96MB OF RAM, 10GB Fireball HDD....my old IPCOP BOX.

*That* 30lb tank booted right up...I think it's immortal. 😸

We've mostly had temperate weather for the last couple of weeks. I think it was about two weeks ago I heard the weather guy say that he thought most of the really bad heat was over for this year. Now we get hurricane season.

They are already up to the "D" hurricane name - Danielle is out in the Atlantic and isn't supposed to come ashore at all, but that means that it's the fourth named storm already this year and it's only the 3rd of September.

My computer tells me it's 80F outside now. I think it's about 68 inside.

Found out I have a warming setting on the oven..just a gentle heat. It says 150F but feels much less...I can hold my hand in there. It's perfect for raising pizza dough. And on a timer. 🙂👍🍕

20220903_154204~2.jpg

For fun, I added some chinese chile oil and garlic to the excellent Bragg Organic EVOO coating the dough..hehe.

FWIW:
Bragg® Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is an unrefined and high quality oil imported from Greece and made with Greek Koroneiki olives.

Still sorting through my Apt...found this old 1992 photo of my gramma's and one of their friends (friend is on the left). They're all dead now and that restaurant on the river bank no longer exists...but it's nice to see they all were happy once. :)

Talking about everyday routines or everyday tasks is just like every time talking about something new. There are a lot of points that I can discuss with you on a daily basis.

Let me share one thing. Last night I watched a strange movie. All the characters and the overall story of the movie were interesting but very horrific. It was suggested by my friend. I like the way everything has been described fully. My friend also told me that it is a real story. Well, I watched the overall movie and then I feel like now this all will happen to me. I just slept down. I was like I have something upon me.

Anyhow, I suggest you not watch such movies like me. If you want to know some interesting movie then check the ............

It's never too early to prepare for Halloween when you're going to participate in a haunted house, and the event is closing in. Hubby wants to go as Krampus, and I am customizing a mask with a moving jaw. Painting is done, accessories are done. Hair is on. Still need to add beard. It looks a bit like Twisted Sister's Dee Snyder right now.
