Main reason I haven't upgraded my Mac to Yosemite yet. I like to do an upgrade then scorched earth reinstall (it's the way you have to do it on Mac's now if you want a clean install) and not looking forward to dealing with my picture or itunes libraries<------ Managed to fix iTunes and save about 2,000 missing songs.

You're not missing all that much with Yosemite I think. I like that it fixed calendar and gave me ability to see/respond to SMS on my computer. Airdrop has been a godsend. Just a lot of little improvements like those.

Safari color scheme is way better too. There really is a battery life difference using safari on Mavericks, I just can take the black on dark grey scheme they used. It's been complained about for years and it's about time that they updated it to some usable.
I also want my iCloud notes, reminders, and calendars to sync properly. They aren't working for some reason on Mavericks, and none of the fixes I've found so far have helped. Others have the same problem and the issues are supposed to be fixed in Yosemite.

Awww I'm so sorry! Will do! Did not mean to offendHe's 11 and has autism. He's a great kid and we have been able to keep him mainstreamed so that he gets more social interaction and peer modeling than he would in a special needs classroom, but he needs an aide to get through the day.
Just a note... if you work with special needs kids, you might want to drop "fucktard" from your vocabulary... it can get you fired if someone from your school hears it and knows you work there... I'd generally appreciate it too

Yeah, Mavericks gave me the calendar problem that is iCloud related. Maybe they fixed all iCloud issues. Calendar would give notifications in the Mail that a connection couldn't be made every two minute. And if you turned on mail, contact or notes icloud synching, Calendar would turn too for some reason. So I was living with icloud synching. Downloaded Yosemite the first day available and it fixed everything. Experts in Apple Community say it was really an iCloud fix and would have worked on Mavericks but I don't think so.

Would hate to see you lose your job for something that can immediately set off some special needs parents. I try to be a bit more realistic and pick my opportunities to bring awareness, but some will jump down the throat of anyone they hear using it within their earshot.

Yeah, good lookin out! All special needs kids are mainstreamed at our school. I work with all of the kids during lunch. I help open milks, give out napkins, and keep the peace when things get crazy. With all the hoops I had to jump through I would hate to lose this job. I would miss all my babies so much!

The kids attending regular schools in the district are mainstreamed for the most part. A lot of them (including Ethan) are pulled out for in-school therapies and resource assitance with their core subjects. Right now Ethan only takes Math and Language Arts plus PE and Art. They pop him in and out of Science and History when they are working on something they know will engage him.
We also have a school for the "profoundly" disabled. Our district is the top district in the state for services for disabled children which is why we picked it when we moved from CA to IN. Fortunately we knew he had autism before we moved so we could scout this out. We moved when he was only 18 months and knew for certain that he had autism by the time he was 15 months.

I think when special needs kids are kept separate from the other kids, it causes a noticeable separation (like when we were in grade school) which leaves a lot of potential for everyone to miss out on the social and learning aspects

Our district has an Autism Resource Team that is specially trained to help teachers and the school understand how to better support, work with, and teach kids with autism. We have them come into class about a week after school starts and they do an interactive presentation with the kids in Ethan's class to talk about how everyone is different and that's okay. They have them do some sort of art project and show how everyone did it differently and some of the kids talk about why or how they did it differently. Then they seque into the ways that Ethan is different and how he copes with stress.
It helps immensely to get rid of the "what's wrong with that kid" stigmas right at the beginning of the year and he's one of the most popular kids in his school
He still has an occaisional issue with kids, but others quickly step in to help him.Doesn't hurt that all the cheerleaders LOVE him! We always say it's a blessing that he is minimally verbal or we'd really have some girl problems
