Ya, I always go to the source. Get Malwarebytes Pro and the Anti-Exploit posted above (same company). It'll help.

Also, next time you think you are hit with something like this, download and run Combo Fix http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/ , if that doesnt do it, then restore your computer. As time goes by, restoring will become more of a pita.
Yup, that'll do it. That's what I used plus a little manual this and that.
The name of the exploit is on tip of my tongue, if only I could spit it out.

Again, what software came with it? You obviously picked up Superfish, Deal Slider, Right Coupon, Hot Deals, etc, etc, etc from somewhere. If it is new, one of the software that came with it could be the culprit.

I delete all traces of all of that malware type bullshit as soon as i turn a new laptop on.

I also have 2 DVD's of trusted programs that I use on all my friends & family's computers.

From Avast internet security, malwarebytes anti malware pro
to DVD Fab DVD ripping program, nero for ripping & burning music, Ashampoo Burning Studio for making my own movies
to Microsoft Office and Abobe Master Collection
to CCleaner & Tune up utilities (it has a file shredder so you can delete something FOREVER if need be)
to instantly deleting IE after adding Firefox, Chrome, and Opera for multi tasking (firefox for email & eBay, opera for facebook, VU, New & Media story hunting)
Box (because I got 100GB free online storage for being a Sprint customer, they just gave me 50GB more for free), Realplayer Cloud.
Winamp Pro, Realplayer, Windows Media Player, VLC player etc...

Then I trust a laptop to work well for myself (I added a VPN & Torrent software to ONE of my 3 machines only) and friends or family

i think what happened is i downloaded a program from a dirty site instead of the company itself and the malware was in it. so i was downloading an anti malware program and got malware. how ironic, huh?

Ironic? Not really. That's how the best malware gets loaded. Apart from having it pre-installed on your new computer, that is.

Oh, I'm talking about a very old Dell (my nephew's, ha) with whatever came after Windows 98. Can't even remember now.
There is an outfit that refurbishes old machines for the poor that can't afford to buy 'em
I trash pick machines and fix them up and give 'em to friends or use them with Linux. Got one right next to this box running dual Kali Linux for penetration testing and "Doze for testing proggies so what happened to
kellie doesn't happen to me again.

Gotta love Linux. If it was not for my gaming I wouldn't have winblows on my main. I don't even run any AV on my main though. I keep very little on it other than my gaming stuff. I built it just for my Guild Wars 2 :)

So, Toyota having to recently recall almost their entire sale of cars wasnt factored in? ;)

If owners experienced a problem they consider outside normal, I believe the owners would report it and it would be included.

Got a 'rootkit' once...after trying to clean it out of the registry, in safe-mode, fer some degree of time, I said 'fuggit', re-installed windows, as I keep all my set-ups, progs' backed-up...wiped the h-d first.

What kind of porn sites are all you people visiting? I don't think I've had any issues for a decade now!

Haven't run any security software on my pc's for about that long either, except for the kids computers and I reimage probably 2x a year. It's amazing all the little adware that they pick up on sites targeted at kids

It was a download site. You know, the kind with everything you need from drivers to software in one spot, just make you download about 10 malware programs at the same time. Some let you uncheck things but then won't let you download without the crap. And they make it hard to spot the added junk that come with what you are after.

I don't download software very often that it is from a verified source, but even then a lot of the distribution sites use a link that looks like the one you need to download the software, but in reality it's some other adware or whatnot. I've seen some that won't even show you the real download link for some period of time like 30 seconds just to increase the odds that you will click the fake download link.
Really have to pay attention nowadays.

This site is clean & the free one is almost as good as the paid one.
Only difference between the two is the paid version has real time protection which will block potentially bad sites or files from being anywhere near your computer.
The free one will pick up any bugs the paid one will, updates the anti malware database version bi daily, and it's Free :)

Even the Adobe Reader updates try to trick you into installing McAfee (bloatware, which is un needed & bogs down your comps resources) you need to be careful and read everything before you hit "accept" and un check the "install "X" program with Adobe" icon.

Right. If the video says "you need to install plugin to view this Video" then you go to one of the other 1,000.000.000 porn sites to watch a video.
It's not really that hard.

When my friends used to call me about having all these crazy programs that they can't delete popping up and asking them to pay to run a scan because it says "You have 3,000 trojans 600 worms & 200 malware" in their PC my first question always was:

Let me guess, you were trying to look to porn and wound up hitting "yes" didn't you?

Good morning VUvians:)

I'm out of breath already..then they're coming out with 10
and there's a bunch of iterations of all of the above..phew...
Do I get an A now? ...boy , almost messed that up with bad spelling...phew

You went shopping too, heh.
Wish me sweet dreams, Whisk. I'm really going to bed now.
Yea, seems like a wiener. I want one but I'm a poor boy so I settled for the Kayfun Lite Clone at MFS,
that I got the other night, the Kanger Pro Tank 3, I got 5 days ago on ebay,
and a bunch (10) Authentic coils for the Pro tank and another VAMO V7 - I got at fast tech this morning. :)

Have a good one. I'm sleep walking.
Hazy
