Good afternoon Family:wave:
Vampires treated me well today:rolleyes:
My markers went down again, I was worried it was a fluke and just fluxuated. Didn't go down by as much but I ate bad (hospital food) and had a lot of stress which feeds the beast;)
I hope the day is bein good to everyone, it has me so far, always thrilled when I can give the beast a black eye.:)

For an hour I've been searching for a version of Winkin Blinkin & Nod that I remember hearing a long time ago on the car radio, a serendipitous find while channel surfing between towns on the interstate. If I'd had to place a hundred dollar bet I would have said it was Seals and Crofts, but I can't find where they ever did that song.

It was a beautiful thing. Maybe I'll never know.

I don't know. You know how when you're driving on the interstate between towns you'll lose a channel, find another one, and then after a while lose that one. I was hoping to catch the back-announce after the set, but before the DJ came on again I got too far down the road and lost the station.

It sounded like Seals & Crofts with their beautiful style of singing, the lyrics so clear you could use the recording to teach a child the song. As I've searched the last hour or more, I've listened to bits of maybe 30 versions of it. Can't find it.

Was it the Doobie brothers

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe--
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea--
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish--
Never afeard are we!"
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam---
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
Bringing the fishermen home;
'Twas all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 'twas a dream they 'd dreamed
Of sailing that beautiful sea---
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
Is a wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

Eugene Field 1889 (original poem title "Dutch Lullabye")

Was anything ever so beautiful?

When I get an obsession I get it but good. Can't thank you enough for giving this back to me after I heard it one time on an unknown radio station on the highway late at night, and searched for it forever after that.

That's it!

Thank you Jimi! Thank heavens. I woke up thinking about it. I think it was in my dream. Now I can get the mp3 and have it always.

Eugene Field was such a genius.
I always liked this version from Buffy Sainte Marie- saw it on Sesame Street many many years ago.
