I put about 2 hours into this coil. Way harder than it probably looks. This is a framed staple coil. There are 8 strands of 0.5mm ribbon wire sandwiched between 2 strands of 26 GA kanthal. Then that is wrapped in 36 GA nichrome. 4 wraps on 2.5mm came out to 0.17 ohms. Vapes fantastic though.

That's what I was just telling a buddy. They look so nice together. And to top that, after vaping on it a few hours it may just be one of my favorite set ups ever. It's nice and light, love all the graphics and color combinations, the rda on a mech mod hits wonderfully (if you watch the reviews on the mod it's known to be a hard hitter) and with a dual parallel set up it'll last me all day. I'm totally thrilled with it.Damn that's a pretty setup

Well ya. Lol. You can buy fused claptons they're too but I'd stick with the size I recommended. The fused would be better suited for an rda. Heck you can buy the pre-made coils too. Just wrap them yourself though and save some money.

How's the ramp up on claptons, if you're using a single 18650 mech? Lotta lag time? Or do they heat up pretty quick?

Depends on what you're using. I myself would use a nichrome center like 26 nichrome 80 and wrap it with 32 kanthal. That would heat almost instantaneously. My vaping style I like a lil ramp up cause I take long lung hits so I don't want it scorching after a 1 second pull. Theres no end to what configuration you can use. I have some that I wrap that are staged heating. So my inner wire will heat first then the outer wire. Or vice versa. But really it all depends on how you make it. If you want it to heat instantly you can sure do that. I typically shoot for a build between 0.17 and 0.23 to run on my mechs with these fancier coils. Like anything else just takes practice and trial and error.
I may have to try one. I've got 24ga nichrome and some 32ga kanthal.
That should heat up plenty fast but if it still seems to lag a bit use dual 24 and wrap with 32 to pull the resistance down. Doubt you'll have to do that though. Can also wrap it with higher resistance nichrome. I use a ton of 34, 36, and up to 40ga nichrome to wrap with. Just depends on what's on the inside and what resistance I'm wanting.

Lots of contact points. Seems the whole button spring area was usually the biggest culprit for me.
