I won't argue for or against Common Core because I see good and bad in it, but what I will say is that many don't understand a lot of it.....and think they do.

It is bullshit that government greed is pushing it down our throats at the expense of our kids. They won't listen to teachers because they are to busy making us the enemy.

I will also say that I have seen some good come of it. Yes, I teach what is required for my grade level...... But I don't teach TO the test. The material is difficult and there are various ways to teach it... But that doesn't make it wrong..... Just different.

They're cutting so much funding for these kids to the point we are doing fundraisers every other week and its frustrating as all hell, and sad because we live in a fairly poor town. The kids need all the help they can get and the teachers and the parents are stretched too thin to handle all of it themselves

M&D's property taxes were probably around $100...if that. Now I am paying over $4,000 in taxes on our residence and the rental house. That used to fund our schools, among other stuff. What the hell? Denver city and county schools are the best for kids to get into these days because they have a lot of the extras as an attempt to stave off the gang problems and keep some kids in school. I think I have lived way too long.

Thanks for the offer Dready but I doubt I'll have time to experiment with making up my own recipes for quite a while, will probably just stick with a few I know I like for the time being. There is just way too much going on right now between classes and preparing to setup and move my files to a new computer and learn a whole new OS.

Those pictures of your boys really look like a photo of twin boys to me, the differences are very very slight, beautiful boys.

We actually had our VD dinner last night, I make home made, from scratch, chicken soup with Grands buttermilk biscuits and baked a pineapple upside down cake, which is his favorite. That is many times more than my normal amount of domesticity for one day. lol

Tonight we will have the leftover soup over Jasmine rice and more cake.

If I had school age kids today I would home school, it wasn't an option when my daughter was growing up or I would have done it with her.

OK off to watch class videos and get to work on my assignments, then Daytona qualifying and NHRA drag racing opening race.

Afternoon all! What does a person do with themselves when there is no more football??? Depression sets in until fall, I suppose.

Actually, I spent the morning getting stuff ready to go in and meet with the finance officer at the "home". She works some weekends. Very convenient for me this time.

Now off to a much needed shower and then off to spend some time with mom and her money...such as it is. After this afternoon she will be broke again. I need more miles so I can support her in the manner to which she wishes to become accustomed. LOL Poor thing. She is NOT used to being broke. Never had a lot of money but she could do pretty much what she wanted and was able to do physically. Getting old is not for the faint of heart!

Only bright side, they decided not to run the trucks today. Still want me to come in and help clean of trailers and help get the lot clear. Not sure I'm feeling like doing that. We've got youngun's that can shovel more snow with less potential death than me.
For now, we'll drink coffee and fart around. (Literally)

Sup Rooboy.
Fideo...pronounced fee-they-oh.....is a Mexican pasta dish. Very cheap, very easy and quick, and very adaptive to
Your own additions as seen fit. Basically it's fideo noodles (angel hair pasta...almost) or any pasta....even macaroni or shells or whatever. Fry the raw pasta in a little oil...stirring constantly....till the raw pasta is browned. Add minced garlic( a must) and diced onions while browning if you want. Add bouillon stock(chicky, mooey or preferably tomato) and simmer till pasta is at the softness you prefer.

That's the basic. Add poblanos or seranos if you like. Chorizo is a no brainer add in. Cheese, sour cream....etc.....whatever floats the boat.

Adding more bouillon stock makes it a soup. Oh yeah.....don't forget your seasonings....again, whatever you like.
I use curry, Berber, cumin/vindaloo.......

ETA......spaghetti type pasta should be broken up into short lengths.
