No kidding. Like what else could've gone wrong that day? XD

Gave it another shot before returning it. Board still heats up n resets when tapping the side of the housing. OMW to USPS.

(Edit) sent.
They should get it Monday then inspect it and send out my replacement Tuesday/Wednesday wish. /sigh... Another weeks worth of waiting now...

You should have asked them to resend a new one as soon they you confirmed tracking. Its the least they could do considering that you have waited an exceptionally long time to receive it, then it was not working properly .. Hopefully you have earned some good Karma because I think that you have been rather cool about the whole situation.

Honestly, if I didn't have as many alternate devices readily on hand as I do, I'd be having a tantrum. Lol

While this whole ordeal is becoming more and more a hassle, its not like I NEED the device. :p

They're lucky I'm a fairly mellow and reasonable person. If the device wasn't for me personally, I'd prob be much more upset. I don't think I'd be nearly as forgiving had it been meant to be a gift for someone else. Especially had I not tested it before wrapping and giving it to them... Id have felt HORRIBLE.

FC has received my return. Doris has notified me that their shipment of new ZNAs will be at their US warehouse in the next 48hrs (72 tops). Apparently they've contacted Robbot about the boards shifting during shipment causing issues.

Can't remember the last time I waited so long for an order. Hopefully ill get a winner this time around. 3 strikes and your out right? XD lol

As an owner of the first release of the robbot ZNA clone which had issues, I can say that the second release has a few little differences that add up to a nicer product. The 510 connector is now spring loaded so you can fit more atomizers. It also comes with both a black and silver 18490 tube and also a silver 18650 tube. More expensive than the initial release but once you factor in the cost of the separate 18650 tube of the first release its about the same cost. I really like the look of the black 18490 tube with silver body. Buttons, at least between my devices, are more firm and less prone to false clicks. It was odd in the first release, my buttons were hard to press yet when I'd finally pushed in the proper direction I'd get multiple clicks. Haven't seen that with the replacement unit.

For sure third time better be a charm or else .. and they should really give you a discount or 2 new tubes o_O Been meaning to ask Doris what the hell happened to the colored tubes? :(

** Important User Note for Robbot ZNA 50 **

I am posting this now so that anyone who receives the new Robbot ZNA 50 is not confused or thrown off by the chip's voltage output behavior. Please read it if it applies to you, and share it if you come across someone who may misunderstand the design of this chip. I am only going to post this once ..

1. Robbots chip has been designed to boost voltage for 1 second at low wattage output (below 10W), and at high wattage output (over 45W). This is the design of the chip, it is not a defect or a flaw in the chips function.

Example: .8 ohm set 8.5W will fire at 3.3v for 1 sec, then drop to 2.8v and remain there until you stop firing. The behavior shows on the display, and on a voltage meter also.

The purpose of the design is to decrease ramp up time at low and high wattages. The chip does not boost voltage for 1 second in any of the mid range settings. The same atomizer set to 14W will just fire a 3.3v, no boost, no drop down, just a flat 3.3v output.

2. This concept in chip design is similar to what Cloupor did with their ZNA 50, but way less extreme. Cloupor ZNA 50 had a 6v boost for the first second, then dropped down to normal voltage .. Robbots chip design is not that extreme, the first second voltage boost is never higher than 3.5v in the low wattage (step down) range.

From 10-40+ watts you will get a steady voltage output with most resistances. As per Robbot they have a sensor in the chip to detect battery lag and this is how the chip is designed to respond to it.

I have had no issues with this chips design however, often times there is a negative reaction to anything new, or unexpected, so I am clarifying it. :)

Initially I thought mine was firing hot, but I observed what you just stated, other than that (and it munching 18500's like Pez), it's a good mod.

That actually sound great, especially for big dual coils! :D still waiting on mine to arrive, hoping for this week but not holding my breath. it should be in the UK by now, so just waiting on Customs and Royal Mail to get their shit together, not a good time of year for post

Yeah at first I noticed it on a voltage meter, and was like "wtf" Then I realized that the display was reading the same, and then Robbot clarified the design of the chip, and I actually think its smart. Being that this chip does step down voltage, I see it as good way to compensate for ramp up time at lower voltages.

Robbot could spare themselves some questions by putting out written specs for the ship before they released it. Unlike the 30W, there was no chip spec sheet in my box when I received it .. although I didn't look under the felt insert, maybe its in their?

I agree hun :) But Robbot could have done a better job at making that clear to new users, I can totally see how someone using this for the first time would think that something is wrong. Now with that said, lets hope that UK customs doesn't hold your package hostage for too long ... they don't understand the importance of our vape mail. :D

The more you guys talk about the ZNA 50, the more I wish I could afford to buy one right this minute... Sadly it has to wait until sometime after Christmas... :(

When you think of it, this "feature" acts just like the boost option on the Provari 3, giving a burst of higher power briefly to get the coil heated up to temperature. I won a Provari 3 at a charity raffle at a local vape shop. Best $5 I ever spent. Love the Provari 3, hate that damn 1 button menu system.

Oh hun don't be sad about that .. It will still be around whenever you are ready for it. My favorite part of it is the spring loaded pin, I like that I do not have to install and remove an atty to make and test adjustments. My chip is still performing well, have it at .8 ohm/15.5W and 3.3volts right now :) I like being able to run sub ohm builds at lower wattages.

So long as nothing fails during assembly, or shipping in the case of our friend Msgnyc, I like the chip, and they certainly did a better job with creating their chip than say Yosen/SXK did. My only criticism at the moment is the 1 second delay from sleep due to the Zen ZNA boot up they added, which I honestly feel the device did not need at all.

Yes it does hun :) .. The review will not come until after the 1st of the New Year, but not too long after. I am being a little selfish in wanting to wait until I get their 1:1 Kayfun V4 clone because I love the way its looks with the ZNA in their photos, and you know I have to get in a little porn with these reviews :D

You mentioned the Kayfun v4 ( clone )... which brings up a potential issue on Evolve DNA 40 devices. It seems the temp control is having issues because of the slight variations with resistance on atties that have a spring loaded 510 connection. I see it as also a potential issue on the devices themselves with a 510 connection that uses the same setup... in otherwords, it probably doesn't matter if it's the atty or the device, there may be some variation in resistance if they aren't well designed. If the CDNA's also come out with a chip offering that type of temp control... then the issue becomes potentially a bigger problem.

I find this to be true for devices with a spring loaded connection like the GP Heron, and also atties with two piece bases like the Rose V2 and Aqua V2 .. but the slight fluctuation in resistance doesn't bother me really .. .1-.2 change in resistance I haven't found to be problematic in terms of actual use.

I will not be making the switch to temperature protection because I don't need it, so it will not effect me .. someone else may have a concern.

It's the "techy nerd" in me that makes the subject intriguing. I do think temp control/protection is a good feature but it's in its infancy so there are going to be growing pains involved. The adjustable/spring loaded 510 connections will play a big part of that... with two ( one on the device one on the atty ) it increases that issue. Because of that... it's something the users need to keep in mind when purchasing now and in the future.

I guess that enough OT for now... you mentioning the KF v4 sparked it in my mind when I read it... and led me astray :D

I do think that temp protection technology is a good idea though, especially for sub ohmer's who vape at very high temperatures. I like what Brandon/Evolv said about working to keep vaping as safe as possible. I also like the idea of e-liquid vendors testing their juices to see at what temperature are their liquids are safest for vaping.

Hi nikkita6,

Mine is on the way to me .. Was planning to get some 18500 batts or 18490batts.. Just wanna double confine with you.. With modification.. It can't fit 18500 right? Thanks in advance! Cheers!

18490/18650 nipple tops will work right out of the box. A spacer will need to be removed in order to use 18500 batteries otherwise the bottom cap will not screw on all of the way. The same spacer needs to be removed in order to use flat top batteries.

That is unless something else was changed for the next batch aside from them more securely seating the board. I'll find out soon... I hope...

That's entirely up to you. Its an easy fix tho. Just keep in mind, without removing that spacer you will be unable to use flattop batteries at all. Your battery selection will be greatly limited. AW and Orbtronics have great batteries. Dont know who else makes good nipple tops. Just be careful where you buy those AWs. There are a plethora of knock offs out there.

If you have zero intention of using 18500 batteries, you could also take a piece of sandpaper and just shave the spacer down just a hair so that the hex screw pokes out. That would allow you to use flat tops. ;-)

Hi osrix, which battery mode you using? 18490/18500 or 18650? I believe it does make a different right? Correct me if I m wrong. I m new to all this mod thingy.

18650, just checked it against a genuine dna 30 and at 30watts the evolv is putting out 4.7 volts, same atty and battery.
EDIT
The chip is utter balls, after extensive testing this afternoon, its reading the coil ohms wrong so it will never output the correct wattage.

Are you getting that the 4.2v on display or on your meter? One negative that I have also realized is that the 50W does not boost that well on a low battery in 18490 mode ... I am a bit disappointed in that because a) I only use it in 490 mode and b) my 30W Robbot is so good on a low battery. I vape until cut off without even noticing .. with the 50W I definitely feel the lag at about 35-40% :(

Been vaping it at .6 and 17W, then I switched to 1.2 and 13W, but output still lags at 35% .. It may be better in 18650 mode, but I don't really like this form factor in 650.

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed in how efficient the new boards sounds to be. The 30 was very efficient. Barely noticed any real power drop off until it was time to swap batteries.
