Music Of The Night- David Cook
I love how he sings this song.
That is good. American Idol has had its ups and downs. I'll offer this as a non-game post, just a reply.

I keep track of this YouTube link. I still enjoy it as much as I did maybe 100 times when I watched it over and over again for several weeks when it originally appeared on the American Idol website. This was her final, winning performance on the first season of the show. The video is terribly degraded, but the sound is great as ever:

So dewy and beautiful, with a voice so powerful and effortless, on a perfectly chosen song done better than Celine Dion ever dreamed of doing it.

American Idol was never as good as it was that first year. The year David Archuleta didn't win, I knew the show had become rigged, so I never watched again. In fact someone slipped out that DA's votes were rigged out because Archuleta's father was difficult to deal with. But I felt the dad would ultimately be irrelevant. He wouldn't be the one signing a contract. Archuleta was so talented, with that engaging humble stage presence, beautiful voice and those rare double eyelashes.

Anyway I'll try to find another song to get back in queue with.

Had to look for that one

I have to admit I've been "watching" Lofi Girl. I couldn't care less about her music, generic repetitive beat, so I turn the volume off completely. It's the drawings that are all the charm, her student apartment, the pumpkin kitty, the world outside her window. There are several vids, each with a different scenario. I wish I could figure out how to make this one a screen saver.

May be an image of one or more people and text that says 'Do not neglect your music, it will be a companion which will sweeten many hours of life to you. THOMAS JEFFERSON'

May be a cartoon of one or more people, people standing and text that says 'WOMEN WORKING When I get old, I'm going to move in with my kids, make lots of noise, trash the house, pay no bills, and when asked to clean, pitch a fit!'

Still I Rise

I saw her speak at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser lunch one time. She told of how her granny could see things. She told this story: One day as her granny stood behind her, fixing her hair, Maya was complaining, as any adolescent girl might, that she was too tall for the boys and she felt ugly. Her granny kept right on fixing her hair, and said "but my dear you need to be tall to be seen across the big rooms full of people where you will someday be speaking".

Wow it gave me chills.

Hi Bliss, how you doin tonight my friend? Were you here last Christmas? Every Christmas we dedicate to Christmas songs, you can post others but it's kinda cool to hear all the different Christmas songs, sure hope you'll join us
When a thread has become this long, it's hard to find where you jumped in. I finally found my first post in this thread, March 4 of this year.

But as December approached I knew I would want to post as many songs as possible about Winter Solstice, Christmas, New Years, Chanukah and Kwanzaa, from all around the world, because festive season is fun and has happy associations for most everybody. There are many nuances. Some people do get depressed by the holidays though.

The word matching is the challenge. I'll try to get back in line with another one, but this song speaks to me of that "lost" relative, the alcoholic or drug addicted uncle or cousin who shows up at Christmas. Everybody, his parents, his children, shower him with love and hope he's better and is going to stay, but soon after Christmas he's gone again.
