Every Christmas it makes me think of Amber :(
I think and miss Amber everyday. Pray for her children and hope they are being treated and taken care of well.
It was difficult when her birthday passed by in November. Was hard not to post a birthday gif for her.

Just as I miss and think of @Rhianne . Watched her birthday pass on by in November as well. Pray and hope she is OK.

A Holly Jolly Christmas- Burl Ives

I changed my mind about what song to post. I wanted to post this at first opportunity:

From Chilean singer Luis Aguile, a song of compassion, his original composition translated here:

Ven a mi Casa Esta Navidad (Come to my house for Christmas)

You who are far from your friends, from your land and your home,
you have pain in your soul because you can't stop thinking.
You who can't stop remembering tonight,
I want you to know that here at my table I have a place for you.
For this and many other reasons, Come to my house this Christmas.

You who perhaps remember your mother or a son who is not there,
I want you to know that on this night, they will be with you.
Don't walk alone through the streets, wanting to be numb,
Come with us and by our side try to smile.
For this and many other things, come to my house this Christmas.

You who have lived, always with your back turned, without forgiving,
Now it's time to meet again, Come to my house, please.
Now it's time for us to talk, nothing was lost,
These days everything is forgotten, as if nothing happened.
For this and many other things, Come to my house this Christmas.

Dance of the pseudo nymph
FINALLY somebody used the word "of". I knew it was unlikely I'd get to play this reggae Chanukah masterpiece matching either the word "Lion" or "Judah".

THANK YOU JIMI !!!

Ethiopian Jews consider themselves full heirs to the ancient Jewish tradition, and there are several different Jewish sects in Ethiopia, just as there are everywhere. Indeed there were old testament Hebrew kings who married Ethiopian princesses and queens. Some of the the mainstream of Judaism disputes this Ethiopian Jewish heritage, and it wasn't until 2020 that Israel lifted restrictions on the emigration of Ethiopian Jews there.

The strong Ethiopian claim crosses into the Rasta tradition, as Haile Selassie's family traced its lineage from the Solomonic dynasty, which brings me to this piece from the CD Reggae Chanukah, a project of Alan Eder at CalArts school of music, with various participants, released in 1999.

This is a beautiful arrangement I could listen to over and over again. It has Ras Michael, accomplished Jamaican Nyabinghi drummer, and he's the main singer too. Nyabinghi has an interesting history of it's own, starting long ago as the rhythm for invocations of the gods of the old pantheons of several different African nations, later just widely used as a highly disciplined ostinato. Ras Michael is a deeply religious artist. This song is a medley of Lion of Judah, the song of triumph over oppression, making it an all faiths hymn; and Ma'oz Tzur the 12th century Chanukah song which means "strong rock" or "rock of ages", an epithet for God.

This piece belongs to everybody. Lion of Judah / Ma'oz Tzur

I don't know why that inappropriate cover photo is on this video. I guess it's just the choice of the person who uploaded it. Why this piece is on neither Alan Eder's YT channel, nor Ras Michael's, is beyond me.
