Hi all,

My name is Bob and I would like your thoughts on which RTA I should get. There are so many choices and I spent hours searching for the one that seems to fit me the most, but every time I read something sh*t about them... It would be my first RTA build.

So, because there's so much choice I will state what I want from the RTA.
-Leak prove (I know this is part wicking)
-prefer single coil
-high VG (80/20 or 90/H20)
-Decent cloud production
-Flavor not the most important for me, I want the coils to last..
-No 3 story building format

I was thinking about the wotofo serpent SSM or the Ijoy EXO. But maybe you guys know a better tank for the demands I have.

I'd go for the sxk skyline or Merlin.

Thanks, I should note that I prefer a minimum capacity of 3-4ML of liquid tho. Because if I'm on the road I think a 2ML would make me refill it every hour or so vaping at 40-70W ?

Merlin mini except it likes 75% vg or less.

Most leak proof rta I have owned but you can still get a leak if you are short on wick in the pocket or dry hits with too much. That said, it is the easiest of all rta's I have to get the wick right.

It's only 1 story tall

Coils in an rta last a very long time, you can pull the old wick out, dry burn the coil and rewick it many times before you have to put a new coil in.

I don't have the SSM or Exo yet. Off the top of my head I would say take a look at the Augvape Merlin Mini, Wotofo Serpent Mini, Geekvape Ammit, Vandy Govad RTA, Bachelor Nano, and the Oumier White Bone Mini. I did full reviews on some of them. Here are some links to my reviews.

If you like a tighter draw you may also want to check out the Smok Spirals Plus. It comes with a single coil RBA section.

3-4 ml capacity and not 3 stories tall will not happen... unless you've got a 30ml shorty tank or something but a normal 22-25ml diameter tank won't have that capacity if it's a mini.

Yes, if you drive and chain vape, you would most likely be filling every 30 to 45 min with a 2ml tank

Allright, but I could always delude the VG juice with some DW so 75% would be enough for me! Good to know about the coils hehe.

Great, I will check them out! Maybe you could try to do a review on the SMM and EXO, they seem to get good reviews. But I don't always trust the "youtube reviews" because I feel like they get paid for it to praise the tanks sometimes.. That Govad VI looks sick tho!

Oh well, I won't be chain vaping all the time I guess, so it wouldn't be such a big problem.

Vaping throughout the day at work as often as I would go out for a smoke (~4 breaks) I vape a little over a tank, probably 3ml on average.

That is my at work consumption, once I get home I probably vape another 4 to 6 ml.
Weekend at a buddys BBQ swilling beer... 15-20ml

I usually vape fat single coil builds (clapton or dual fused clapton) around 0.3 to 0.4 ohms in temp control so while I may set wattage to 75w it only pushes that for ~1/2 second to get the coil up to temp and then regulates anywhere from 40w to 50w for the rest of the drag to keep it at my set temp. So I guess 55w on average per hit?

To add to the coil discussion... I find a regular clapton works better in this tank than a dual fused. Dual fused just seems to overpower the smallish flavor orientated chamber. 3mm ID 316ss single core clapton coils.

The Geek Vape Griffin AIO with the single-coil build deck is a fine choice, but the Griffin AIO, petite she ain’t.

Cheers,
Ian

Well 20ML is like €1,- or something if you DIY. :)
Ahh you use SS coils, those are better then Kanthan right? Ohh and I ordered the Alien Al85 and the Wotofo Serpent SMM (It seems the mini but better) and if I use SS coils, could I set it up that it also heats up the coils and then regulates?

Looks cool tho!

A lot of people prefer SS over kanthal but a small population still like kanthal better so it's all up to your preference to which metal makes your vape taste best to you.

Smok will do temp control but they never have done it exceptionally well. Try TC, if it's not working out for you, you always have regular old power mode. SS can be vaped either way.

I'll try both Kanthal and SS and decide which I prefer.

I'ts certainly not the most advanced mod but I went for the alien because its small and packs enough punch + 18650 bat. And in combination with a small single coil RTA I think it would be perfect for outdoor use!

Hmm, I guess I have to find out how it vapes on TC. What mod do you use for the TC vape?

There ya go, it checked all your boxes and didn't cost a ton of money.

There is a lot written about the alien here, I would update it to the latest firmware, throw a SS coil in, put it in 316L SS TC mode and try it out.
There's a good thread on the basics of TC, take a read through that, should help.

I use a HohmSlice and a dual cell box with a Yihi 350j board, both run TC very well.

I have an SMM. Easy to build, easy to wick, difficult to make leak, and excellent, excellent flavor. An excellent first RTA choice. Got it last week and it's now in my all day rotation.

Great to here man! I'm still waiting for it to arrive from China... but happy to know I "probably" made a good choice!

Well, I heard multiple people talk about the bad/flavourless tast of the OBS Engine Nano. So.. I did consider the OBS but after reading so much negative comments I decided to look further.
