Billet Box Appreciation Thread

Should've paid more attention during shop class in high school, could've been a multi-millionaire by now selling Billet Box panels, lol.

Koncio and Ohman seem to be readily available for the most part. I'm not sure if I've seen SSPP in stock.

Flippers dude. And BBs have gotten back in favor recently for some reason so prices, following said demand, have gone up.
Keep an eye out for TRVP accessories, SSPP panels, Koncio, and Ohman stuff. They tend to be the most reasonably priced but not the most hyped. Mums panels are readily available via his website too. I avoid Friendly Flipper for most everything for a variety of reasons, but price being the biggest one.

May I ask why? The artificial scarcity that they clearly promote?

Yep, that's part of it. My biggest beef with them is that they act holier than thou when it comes to other BB accessory makers. They claim that they themselves are "BBV" approved but have yet to show any proof of it. I strongly suspect their stuff is made in China and sold for a ridiculous profit.
They've called out other makers for working with SXK, cloning FF's ideas or style, and won't tolerate any other displays of these companies in their group unless they're in bed with FF. Looks to me like they just want to corner the market with slander. Left the group quite a while ago bc of it.
Oh, and Eddy also started a group called Friendly Waffles, where he charged $10 a head for admission, and then stopped posting waffles (raffles) after a few months. Admittedly I was a little butthurt over that one.

That's not very groovy behavior at all.

Hmm, I keep browsing FB groups for BB stuff and some of the prices are absolutely insane. How can a set of inners be almost twice the cost of a new BB? Do companies like FF/Kontrl/etc. not just sell openly? Does everything have to go through a raffle?

I have thoughts on the whole false demand, and its starts with "People are Stupid..."

Well actually that pretty much sums it up LOL

Completely understandable. I instantly get suspicious if an item doesn't state where it's made. By default, if it doesn't explicitly state where it's made, I immediately think it has to be China.

While I haven't handled any of the pieces. They don't look that great in the close-up pictures on FB B/S/T. Especially when you consider you can get like two BB's for what they're asking, or a host of other great devices.

Here's a shot of some custom aluminum panels from Matt Bennet of Bennet Tool Customs. He also produces a mech squonker and a DNA75C mod.

upload_2020-4-25_16-11-59.png

Anyone notice anything unusual about the screen?

Here's a link to Matt's FB group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/939341726185899/

I have simply messaged him on Messenger to do business with him but he does the typical waffles also. I have a set of Ivory Juma and a set of Black Juma panels coming from him also.

Matt's a cool dude. He works with Dillon at Never Normal and Conor from Mum's quite a bit I think. Forgot to mention that I like NN's tips and buttons for the BB too.

I wish a drip tip was included, didn't BB offer small batches of drip tips in the past? I remember seeing a post on FB or Insta where they were making them.

No idea about the screen then

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

About the screen. The default theme on the Billet Box without any USB port is that in TC mode the 3rd line on the left shows the Material Name that was chosen for the profile, for example SS316. I've gone in a changed a few things via Escribe on my BB's and on that screen I'm showing the puff count.

Here's how it was done:

upload_2020-4-25_19-6-33.png

It is not as convenient as the SXK version but still very doable. The most important change I wanted to make was to add a TCR curve for SS316L which is quite a popular material even in prebuilt coils.

Ah, remember talking about doing that a few years back... using a dongle like the one pictured to add other wire types.

Does anyone know someone using stabwood panels on a daily use Billet Box? The few that I have seen listed as part of a BB package deal have all had the Boro/screen/battery panel warped. I'm assuming from the moisture that accumulates.

Has anyone been successful in buying panels from the Alex.Stabwood on FB? The Ukrainian guy. Have been trying to get a hold of him for a few days, via PM and posting, both in English and Russian, have not heard back.
I bought a set from him back in December. He is a bit slow to respond sometimes, but he will respond at some point haha. When i first contacted him there was some holiday festival going on,then he was sick for a few days, but i got what i bought from him,and will be ordering more soon.
This is the set i got from him.

I had mine on it all day every day for over 4 months with a leaky boro, and have never got any warping. If the wood is stabilized properly,it shouldn't absorb moisture,as a proper stabilization fills the pores in the wood with resin.

I'm with ya. I hate it because it throws out so many good options, but it is what it is I guess. All my panels that are not clear just sit, and I can't convince myself any new ones would be any different.
I love looking at other people's and I'm certainly not claiming any superiority of choice, but for me personally, I just prefer the clear ones. Which is certainly for the best because there's no way I can buy a bunch of expensive panels :D

Oh yeah, me too. Not saying clear are better by any means, and also love seeing any BB posted :) idk about the cost. Some of the "colored clear" are damn pricey  I am starting to get a little pissed with the quality of some of the panels, even the not so cheap ones. More maintenance than the BB itself o_O I had two magnets come out of one set after one day of use, and I have some that are cracking around the magnet after very little use. I guess good for me is I really like the looks of the G10 on there as well, so if they piss me off enough I'll just put those back on :)

That looks good. Green/brown is what I want for my Dober. But impatience is a huge flaw of mine, and waiting for it to be made and then shipped from so far away will kill me. But honestly, the default G10's are pretty nice panels, so that should help with the wait.

I wish I could do one with stabwood. The blocks are fairly cheap. Then just cut it down and all. Not sure how hard a block of stab is but we all have panels for a template
I've had the same thought for quite a while now.A few months ago,i even bought one of those milling vices for my drill press and some end mill bits in order to make the cutouts and all,but that's as far as i've made it haha.I figure i'll get around to it one of these days, but i'll practice with some cheap wood first before i try any nice ones.

I have some $110 Limelight panels I got from a guy on Reddit for 30 bucks. One of the magnets fell out :(

Well, your in luck sorta haha. Most of what he has is already made, but he usually hasn't done the polishing until after someone buys them. All in,from the first time i contacted him to the time they hit my mailbox was about a month, but there were several conversations, and a few delays due to holidays and sickness that slowed the whole process down a bit.I'm wondering how the whole Covid situation will affect shipping from the Ukraine right now though,it has really slowed down the stuff from China,so i'm curious if/how it will be from him.
I agree though something about the G10 panels that just works, can't go wrong with those either.

I've got some green/black that go on the Dober sometimes when I'm not feeling clear. I think they go together really well.

But the love of clear made me go to these. Hard to see in the pic, but they have a green tint to them

Those are beautiful. I scan r/ecigclassifieds a couple times per day and catch very little BB-related stuff.

Does anyone know what the difference is between these two EUC bridges:

https://vapeology.eu/collections/bi...coil-bridge-2-part-usa?variant=30995272564817

https://vapeology.eu/collections/bi...ture-tips-vaporesso-euc-bridge-billet-box-usa

Both made by Signature Tips?

Also, who makes better drip tips, ohman or Atmistique?

This is on sale, and would match the f-u button:

Not sure about the bridge, but the dt above is from Atmistique. Very different from the one you linked, but I absolutely love them. Other than matchy matchy, they are the only ones I use.

I use an EUC bridge with the ceramic coils, but I didn't know they made different ones o_O

I lost it. I've been meaning to get some extras anyway, but never got around to figuring out the size and chasing them down.
Shit, I bought a pack of 50 or 100 lol. PM your info and I could throw a few in a plain envelope, if you want. I've had to use plenty :xD: and they fit great. I don't remember what size.

That's probably the route I'm going to go until I can get a Vapesnail. How do the ceramic compare to the regular EUC? Have you used other premade coils? OCC or Nord?

What flavors are people running in their billet? I don't my juice and find that fruit based juice work best for flavor when I try a bakery or a heavy flavor it just doesn't come through the same as a nice 22mm single coil rda

Both of the bridges in your post are identical and both made by Signature Tips. I have bought both of them.

I have not tried the regular EUC coils but I have a shitload of the ceramic in 0.3, 0.5 and 0.6 ohm. All of them have SS316L coils in them and work for TC. They are definitely better than any of the Kanger OCC coils that I have tried. I also purchased a few boxes of the EUC 0.5 ohm A1 clapton coils but I have not tried them. I've heard some people say that they are the best pre-made coils that are available.

Using a grape apple cloud nerdz. Pretty light vape wise. Not thick like a bakery. Of course I bought it at a higher mg so I didn't have to make juice for it.
