If you want to see power generation and storage, look to RVers and the associated Marine tech. Hell, my little rig has two 110Ah deep cycle batts. And solar panels.

If you want to see innovative portable powerbank solutions, look to the Ham Radio community. They perform volunteer comms support in emergencies and hold regular "Field Day" practice runs. As well as comms at public events ex: bike races or marathons. Reliable power is critical. Lotsa geeky battery stuff.
