It's been quite a while. March 8th was my(my fiance's too) 10 year Vaperversary. We had quit for two years but fiance's dad passed away last year and we were live in caretakers for him. Having not really been out in the adult world by ourselves, truly relying on only ourselves, has been a learning curve far too late in our lives. But really there was no other choice. He had to be by his dad's side and I chose to be by their sides.

So here we are 14 years later, us still nicotine reliant but still choosing to not smoke. I broke down and got another mod... a Smok RPM85 (the thing hits like my old GeekVape Aegis lol). It just came in the mail on Tuesday. So here I am, plunging back into vaping again. It's like I never quit. I can still chuck clouds and blow vape rings. AND I can still get a lot of my favorite flavors, like SadBoy Happy End (Cotton Candy).

Anyway, I'm glad VU is still around for all of us.
well done and take care of yourself.

So I believe what I understand here is that you quit smoking by vaping, and then you quit vaping for two years, without going back to cigarettes. Then for the stress of giving end of life care, and the sadness of loss, you found comfort in vaping again.

No shame in that. The terrible shame would have been if you'd felt you had to take up smoking cigarettes again.

I'm sorry for the loss of your fiance's dad, but I'm congratulating you on 10 years free of cigarettes, and welcoming you back to the VU.

I backslid horribly last weekend. Took a cigarette from FIL. Smoked about half, pitched the rest.

He had come outside, heard, or sensed something. Reckon it put me on edge as well, he was getting a smoke, passed me one first. He gave a nod as I fired up, stepped off to make a quick scan.

It turned out being the bear waking from its hibernation across the bottom. Signaled her dad back, that was all it was, he walked over to me to watch. Poor old brown bear fussing about getting out of the small cave in the rock overhang.

We know that for at least the last eight to ten years it, or one of its offspring, return to the cave each year. There are farms around and people. The bear steers far enough clear of all of them, doesn't cause trouble, moves on after Winter.

Nobody in the area sees it as a threat. And it sees nobody as a threat. Live and let live.

Yeah @Jimi, little sad too. It was maybe a second cigarette in about as many years. Even then I couldn't finish it. Went and got my vape. Also, recently wound up with no snuff to rub. Not bought any more so far, might go back to only vaping.

I took about three hits off a Camel Light the day my son was in a head-on collision (3/17/2018). All that did for me was reinforce the fact that I don't smoke any more. Cigarette was gross.

Glad you stepped back from it.

We have huge bears living around us here. We have more pictures of them every time Hubbs gets the pics off his wildlife cameras. He doesn't go down in the woods any more without a firearm, just in case. It would be a shame to have to shoot one, though.

Big congratulations on eight years, @Lady Sarah !!!:stars2:

10 years ago this month since I lit up a cancer stick! I still remember the day I got my first ecig, an ego. Place was right up at end of my street. It was a cold morning and about 4:30 as I left for work. I started gagging from years of smoking and cold air. Had to get out of car and basically vomited on tree lawn.

I thought after work I am stopping at ecig store. My intentions were not to stop smoking but cut back. Got ego and some coils and 2 bottles of juice. The next day I smoked 12 cigs (I was a 2 to 2 1/2 pack a day smoker) I had 5 second day then 1 on 3rd day and have not smoked since.

Congratulations on ten years, inganeer. It probably added 10 years to your life too, or more.

These vapeaversaries have become more important to me than my birthdays, with a greater feeling of accomplishment and celebration.

Happy vaperversary!!

:stars2:
Your exactly right on that. We had quit a year prior but my first full day without tobacco was 10 years ago today. My wife has a year on me lol.

I'm waiting for the bear story of discovering the vape and quitting the stinkies. This is your vaperversary month?

I first tried one of those cig-a-likes at a beer fest, I was trashed so I bought a couple, was wanting to quit smoking. That was in 2006. They never did satisfy me and wasn't long and they didn't draw hardly at all. So I gave up the idea of vape. Then in January of 2013 I started a job and they promoted the use of vapes so much that they extended a $100.00 refund for vape supplies for every person in the family over 18. Soon as I learned this I was at the local vape shop, I had seen some of the "new at the time" gear and it interested me enough to try again. I was smoking 4 packs a day. I was a foreman with high pressure job. I bought my wife and I each a box mod, tank, and 5 bottles of juice. Yes went over the refund but was well worth it. I haven't looked back, haven't even craved a stinky the whole time.

Ok now it's your turn, lets hear yours

Wowwww, four packs a day. You really climbed out of your coffin with that refund, didn't you. What a wonderful company to do that for its people.

Congratulations my dear friend !!!!!!!!!

I remember it like it was yesterday!
I had started having trouble with my right leg, I couldn't even mow my entire lawn before it would give out on me.
After a barrage of tests I was in the Cardiologist's office to get the results.
I was informed that due to 45 years of smoking that I had a 90% blockage in my Iliac Artery and one blood vessel that was completely plugged! I was told I would need surgery to put a Stent in, this would give me between 80 and 90% mobility back.
I walked out of the office and tossed my cigarettes in the trash and went and bought my first vape!
Haven't touched a cigarette since that day.

I love reading these stories of those of us who saved our lives by replacing cigarettes with vaping.

I can tell you for sure, our stories have tremendous impact on lurkers and newbies.

I'm very happy for you.
