I figure that means either some of his butt buddies, or people who paid locally/ gave a small contribution to his initial up start.
So after all the fuckery, they're handing out promo product before the folks that pre-paid get theirs?

That's what that says to me, but it could be that that guy tries to write above his skill level and so doesn't mean what it says.

Tells me that anyone who put up any money gets the first fucking as an inverse relationship to the order it was given

First to pay-fucked the hardest through smog and direction of cmt
Second to pay -fucked by waiting forever
Friends if theirs- get freebies and they brag about it online to the others that were fucked.
Third to pay- fucked like group 2 only waiting longer for their fucking.

-and the marketing director is probably still laughing.

This is all code for, "sorry folks, production has been slow or non-existent, and we only have 25 or so units to ship out".

Did they ever show pictures of more than one cardboard carton of finished mods ready to go? And in that carton, where those empty packaging boxes, or did they have mods in them? Jeremy implied these were finished ready to ship two weeks ago. I'm betting these are empty packaging boxes just came in from the company doing the retail packaging, or they would be shrink-wrapped instead of in loose plastic bags.

Hey guys -

Sorry for not getting to this earlier as we just saw it. We've got a lot of talk going on here, as well as some misinformation spread that I'd like to clear up.

We've hit every snag in the book, that's not secret. We've had to push back shipping multiple times, and that doesn't make anyone happy. Even though batch 1 is shipping, we still have a bit of negative energy floating around that we are doing our best to change.

To address a couple of things that I've seen pop up here...

"ian(returnity) is a 49% owner of smogdistro" - This is not the case, which I believe he had posted on the now defunct Smog Distribution Subreddit.

If we could financially afford to front every person affected a unit, we would do it in a heart beat. The best we can do is offer $100 off to all affected Smog customers, which is below our manufactured cost.

It is not our place to recommend how to go about getting your money back from Smog Distribution, because it's bad business practice. I will give you this link to share someone else's experience, though.

For those trying to find a connection, or "put together a case" - there is no connection, there is no case to put together. It was an unfortunate situation that we are left picking of the pieces of, and we are doing the best we can. When a vendor disappears and there's no where to go to, we are the next logical company to take it out on.

"I'd just call my bank or credit card now, today, if I were you all." - I am not sure why you would do this when you could request a refund from us and have it back the next day. Are you referring to Smog or CMT orders?

"CMT is never going to deliver and walk away with alot of people's money" - This is simply not going to happen, and aside from delays, we haven't given anyone a reason to believe this will happen. As the owner, I have personally invested $XX,XXX into CMT without taking a dime as a return. I don't expect this to be a high-profit business.
A lot of people are viewing this as a circumstance where we are generating a massive amount of money. We aren't. I am able to pay my employees, my overhead and produce units.
If we were radio silent, I could understand the anxiety. As of right now, if you want skin in the game, you can pre-order a Whiteout. If you want to get out, you can request a refund.

"When I saw they're registered in Delaware I immediately shook my head." - See this: https://www.legalzoom.com/articles/incorporating-in-delaware-advantages-and-disadvantages

"they have to go from china to the USA. get assembled packed and shipped." - This isn't the case, all Whiteouts are assembled and configured at the factory.

"If they survive past this first batch, and release the arduino, I may get one to screw around with." - We are knee-deep in the design, but trying to take care of what is on the plate first and foremost, and that is the Whiteout SX and Whiteout DNA.

"So after all the fuckery, they're handing out promo product before the folks that pre-paid get theirs?" - I dropped off two units to early pre-order customers, one of which fell victim to the Smog Distribution scenario.

-----

All of this hysteria is due to the fact that we operated on pre-orders. Now, every step we take is (rightly) scrutinized (what other company has community arguments about the process of customs clearance?) In hindsight, I wouldn't have opted to do a pre-order. We grew fast and tried to accomodate for that growth. I would have much rather made a smaller batch of units out-of-pocket. This is a lesson learned and exactly what we are going to do in the future. Hindsight is always 20/20.

I have a friend who owns a backpack line that launched on Kickstarter. It took a year to get to market with setbacks, but they put out a good product and had minimal outlash from their customers. I think we were all expecting this kind of treatment, but that definitely shouldn't have gone assumed. In an industry that is moving at a blazing-fast speed, however, our model clearly doesn't work - and neither do delays.

We're a growing company, we've hit snags along the way, and we have tried to deal with it the best we can. We are not crooks, we are not cheats; we are just a handful of guys working to get cool devices out to the masses in the face of a lot of opposition.

I will monitor this thread as often as possible, so feel free to ask any questions and I will answer publicly.

I respect you coming in here. I'm just an outsider looking in at what seems to be a mess for all involved. I just want to see everyone and everything workout, that includes for CMT.

Thanks, TBCArmor. Like I had said, delays are never ideal in any business, but I think the vape community takes it to heart the most. It takes time to design and produce a new product, new business infrastructure and new business relationships - it's taken longer than we've expected of course - but with the PV industry moving at the rate it is, it can feel like an eternity.

For what little it's worth, I am extremely proud for the growth my team has accomplished in less than a year.

As you can imagine, trying to produce content while also manage production is a bit hard - and production always comes first. Sorry for the lag on this video, but my top priority is making sure units are manufactured safely, correctly and in a timely manner. I hope you can respect that as what I believe to be a proper decision.

I managed to put together a few clips I had for you quickly - hopefully this suffices.

Ok, my computer crashed while typing this up so take Two won't be as well written....
First of all
Thank you for responding , I've tried emailing and calling you but have not gotten a reply. so evidently this is what it takes.
Do you go back and watch makertalk? do you realize how you all come off? Really?
As to Ian, whats really going on there? Either he lied to garner sales through smog, or he lied after the fact to separate himself from the disaster. Either way he's a big fat liar. Which begs the question, is it your practice to hire liars? Or is it your practice to lie to customers? Because once I'm lied to, I have a hard time accepting what someone says as truth without verifying. That's why I called your vendors.

Second.
Dude, I don't care how much you have invested personally. No one does. What we care about is what we paid for; and, the long term success of the business. THATS WHY WE PAID! I would expect a business person to be personally invested in the money, when you make that statement it comes off like,'i have a shitload of money invested, I don't give a crap about your shitty 200$ ' I don't care if that is how you feel; but, I don't need to be told every time you make a statement. Some people are very principled, unfortunately this customer is one of those people. When I say I will do something I do it. That's why I put together a file.

Third
If you can't keep your word to update on a day that you say, how should I take your word ever? "I'm gonna update on Sunday.'' That means you say something, anything, Sunday, even if it is not an update, you say something, if you want credibility. some people, myself included want to see your business take off, but we are looking for any action somehow that you are serious and care. words are pointless, we don't want free shit, we want what we paid for from an HONEST business,

Fourth

Delaware. Just so that you know. I have owned 3 different companies in life so far. I incorporated all three, and have since sold them-none were Delaware -1 in Arizona when I lived there, the other two in Louisiana where I'm from and live now. 2 of those were private investigator firms. Every business owner I've met, knows deleware is a debtor state, shady companies 'inc,' in Delaware. I don't care what legalzoom says but thanks for the link.

again, I want you all to succeed, otherwise this its just a big DNABox, of which I already own a few, more importantly I want honesty, I am sick of paying a company to lie to me, no matter what the owners investment is.

That certainly helps. Why is this not posted on your sub? Do you realize how many pissed off people there are? Whipping out your cell phone, taking two minutes out of your day, and posting is not difficult or time consuming, no matter how busy you are. If the units aren't going to be shipped to paid customer's until the end of January, tell us that for christ sakes. Stop bullshitting everyone, and trying to save face. It's obvious, and very unprofessional.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't believe there has been any dishonesty going on on Ian's end. He was working to become something more with Smog Distribution, and it never came to fruition. Perhaps he prematurely posted his credentials? I am not sure, and I found out the same day the rest of the internet did. What I do know is that he is not and was never a principal of Smog Distribution, which (as alluded to in your prior Reddit posts) you could check by pulling the articles of incorporation records if you are inclined to verify this (as I personally have).

Second -

The point of mentioning this was not to exclaim about my personal investment, but rather to explain why it wouldn't make sense for us to be a fly-by-night operation that disappears. I apologize if it came off the wrong way.

Third -

Holding to a routine schedule is something we have been actively working on and is a core focus moving forward. With all of the noise right now, we are stretched to our limits and are susceptible to dropping the ball - but when things quiet down I think there will be less need for daily updates and more time to organize our communications. I have been personally manning the helm lately, as we are going through a personnel and responsibility shift internally.

Four -

The motive behind a Delaware corporation is the ease to receive future investment, so we don't have to rely on pre-orders. Almost all investors prefer a Delaware or Nevada corporation. I am sorry you've had poor experiences with Delaware corporations, but our reasons are sound.

We are a work in progress, and are actively trying to improve as we go along. I look forward to trying to earn your trust and business back.

P.S. - I messaged you my email and Skype several weeks ago, and my personal phone number a few minutes ago. You are free to contact me whenever you would like.

Thanks for the feedback. We did post a multitude of pictures on this thread here.

Units will be shipping as soon as we get them in house, which is looking to be between Thursday and Monday at this rate. If we anticipated a longer delay, we would communicate that to our customers.

Again- reddit is a fuckstorm of confusion for new users; however, I told you I don't have skype, I did not get your number but PM'd you both from your website and on reddit with mine.

As to questioning Ian's honesty, I guess it can be confusing when one makes a statement ''i am 49% owner' so buy from them, then backs off,
No legally he was not, as stated previously, he is not on their paperwork at all. He still lied before hand to customers, but I guess that's ok; which was my point. I guess we have different standards on what honesty is. I wish I knew that before I invested.
I did pull smogs and your paperwork and spoke with your R/A and incorporator.

I certainly see where the confusion comes from, as I was just as confused to wake up it one morning. Aside from that one confusing post, it ended up being people of the internet digging in too far and trying to put a conspiracy case together. The reality is it was just an unfortunate circumstance for all parties involved.

I cannot speak on behalf of him - I am sure he would be happy to talk to you if you were to message him directly - but I am still inclined to view this as more of something that didn't come to fruition rather than being dishonest.

I am glad we were able to sort this out.

Just so that everyone knows and can make there own decision.
I call the attached image a lie and a retraction. But, the retraction was not made until the proverbial shit hit the fan; and, a huge reason some of us have trust issues. I dont see a conspiracy i see flat out saying one thing and later retracting it. Truth or Lie? In an adult world it can only be one or the other.
Also in the interest of full disclosure I messaged returnity (ian) also; and, have heard nothing back. its a trend...
This conversation, your response on reddit alluding to wanting to improve the companies image, and aaron(i think) telling me mods would ship Monday(Still in china 9 days later, out of your hands -I know not the point) are the only three times i have had return correspondence from a cmt person since I bought in.
Edit: both pics are exactly the same one appears to be clearer

I don't enjoy tearing a business apart or being an asshole. I used to make a whole lot of money doing just that. For ten plus years when I had my PI businesses that's what I did. I was basically the angry iron fist of corporate lawyers pursuing international judgments in asset management. I completely stopped doing that when I grew a soft spot 5-6 years ago. Once in a while a friend will have an issue and ill step in. But I felt the need to put this out there because looking at it, I can see where someone could say, that im an asshole. I think compared to what I would have done in my old occupation, I've been a pretty cool cat.

So you guys are getting closer it seems. No Whiteout Xmas but stuff seems like it will happen for you guys that were not screwed in the Smog Distro crap.

One thing that initially made me hold off was the size and I got to say the damn thing looks huge. https://imgur.com/Z3FU0aj Makes the Wismec look small in that pic.

Looking for feedback from you guys when they do actually arrive.

And yeah, looks like those of us I. Batch 1 not through smog, are only a few days away.
Its about the size I figured from the early renditions. Definitely nit all day carry mod for me. But, im looking forward to the aftermarket kits and to have it as a toy :)

Believe me, ill be screaming something from the rooftops.

After talking to blitz I certainly feel alot better about it as a whole; and, slightly bad(but justified) for going Into evil PI mode. Overall though, I think it helped them as company long term.

Roger that, one thing is for certain. It is DEFINITELY not easily portable. I don't think the design was meant to be. When the put out the squonk portion that'll only make it bigger

Im curious to see how they implement the squonking feature. Cause I. Want. Squonk.
Lol
From the pictures I have seen of the box mod it looks like when they make the Squonk feature it will still maintain the same exterior dimensions.
I think their intention is to maintain the same form factor for all versions.

You know, I had that thought at first; and, then realized that if everything works as it should and the build quality is there; then, I wouldn't want to see them start giving shit away. It's Pavlovian to a point. Some (a few)would then expect every time something went askew, that they would get free stuff, It weekends the brand. In regards to people that bought in at the very beginning; and, stuck it out all the way through,i can see some sort of special honorary, recognition. But not for the masses. I've seen brands do that before; and, its a nice patch for public dismay- all is good for a week or two. Then another wrinkle happens, and the giveaway becomes expected. not by everyone but by some and they are left with people who have unrealistic expectations of a gravy train.

Edit: Im not referring to myself in that group, my order number is 11xx. Im referring to people that ordered the first week or two.

That is a fair view point on it. It should not be too long now that they are exiting the country

Assuming that they have family like mod humans, I'm gonna guess that they'll be getting them Monday and shipping out next week
-I can live with that at this point
