Things are pretty much normal around my place. I don't go out and mingle a whole helluva lot anyway. Thankfully got tp and some other stuff just on the brink of people starting to empty local shelves. I think I'm good til 2021, but honestly I didn't hoard much. I just buy in bulk to begin with, so instead of buying a big pack I got two. Got some other non perishable necessities seeing this shortage coming awhile back, laundry soap, dish soap etc. Have plenty of hand sanitizer but don't use it much, soap and water are more effective.
For those with dried out hands maybe see if you can score some corn huskers lotion. Pretty good stuff, kept my hands from cracking when scrubbing every 30-60min with pumice soap even in winter months when I worked at the shop. Kinda of a balancing act working on cars while also expected to be sparkling clean dealing with customers. Boss didn't want techs interacting with customers looking like a podunk pick and pull so we were expected to look like the typical service writer or cover model of a uniform co.
My thoughts on this corona stuff, it may slow the initial spread being holed up for a few weeks. But this isn't a hurricane or tornado, ducking and sheltering in place it's not going to pass. Come out peeking out of the house in 3 weeks, be like knock knock. Who's there? Still corona bitches! Hoping things begin reopening so the economy doesn't get hit harder than it has to. Thing is the half assed quarantines aren't really stopping corona and the businesses closing means we're taking it dry in both ends like finger cuffs. A lot of people are being more careful but a lot aren't. And so long as it's not mandatory quarantine, enforced quarantine, full quarantine, this shit's gonna keep spreading. All we're doing is delaying the inevitable. People still going to stores, everyone molesting all the packages, exchanges of money, people not following the distancing suggestions.
It's like having a boat and saying of course it won't sink, see? It has a solid bottom. Well except for that crack.. oh and that hole. And that one.. and that one over there. That's a sinking boat. Mr. Miyagi comes to mind. You do karate yes, you do karate no. You do karate maybe, squish like bug. So it's no surprise that it's popping up in stores, in staff, at distribution centers like amazon. And while the news is quick to harp about the numbers and gloomy estimates and conjecture, they're not informing people very well. I've got other vape friends who work at places like nursing homes, confused over what kind of mask to try and get. Not understanding the difference between a surgical flat panel mask, an n95 respirator mask, the diy homemade masks. Some of the diy masks are being accepted by hospitals, not all and they're not for fighting cv19. They're being used elsewhere in the hospitals freeing up the better masks for those working with cv19 patients.
They're also not being real forthcoming with the people suggesting covid19 hangs around on various surfaces for 1-3 days. Yet on some of these cruise ships they've found traces of covid19 on surfaces 17 days after being vacated of passengers. That's coming from the cdc, but they're not mentioning it much to the population at large. So 3 day 'safe' windows, 14 day 'quarantines' are somewhat pointless. And even worse could be more dangerous. They put out a false security blanket of '3 days' so people avoid touching surfaces or a week has passed. Hey, it's safe to be around friends and family now.. corona, corona, corona. News - more cases keep popping up. Gee, no shit. Hopefully with time there will be more effective treatments to manage it better but I don't see this flu going anyplace. Pretty sure it's going to continue hanging around. Even if 90% of non essential people did all they could, quarantined for 14-21 days. Soon as they move back into the wild, they're going to be exposed to some degree. Even if kids are out of school the rest of the year, just wait til next year when it becomes a little petri dish house party and they spread the funk.
