We are all good here - getting ready for weekly tea with the neighbor at her yurt across the road

She is planning to sell out and move in with her nephew a few streets down - I am sad

Yup, vintage Dale Jr apparel there..sadly, he ain't running today.

On the good side, Stenhouse wrecked himself on lap 1...lol...good riddance.

Covid-19 can suck it.

My son has often been told he resembles either Dale Jr. or Eric Church (country music guy), who also resemble each other...

Daughter and I went on a walking tour through the DEI headquarters some years ago, down in Mooresville NC, on our way to spend a few days with some relatives I have near Charlotte. That was an interesting place to see. They had the car Waltrip won the Daytona 500 in the year DE was killed, lots of photos and apparel and cars everywhere. I'm glad we got to see it before it got gobbled up in whatever acquisitions have happened since.

The Burton brothers who were also racing back then are natives of the county we live in. Ward does a lot of conservation work in the county these days. I used to keep up with Nascar pretty closely, but not any more. Some of the newer drivers just aren't my cup of tea.

Checking in: My sister and my niece are both out of the hospital. My niece has a brain disorder and refuses to leave her room at the assisted living place she's at. She's terrified of getting sick again.
I feel bad for her but there's nothing anyone can do about it.
I'm past ready for this all to be over. But no end in sight so I continue to take precautions when I go out and I pray for everyone directly affected by this virus. It's really very scary to have a loved one in the hospital and you can't even go visit.

A few times a week at 7pm, people are driving by and honking and yelling. I’m not sure why, but for weeks and weeks they’ve been doing it.

It doesn’t sound like an angry rent protest. I’m curious what it is, but by the time I notice it, they’re gone.

Is it only weirdos in my neighborhood?

Anyhoo, same old same old here. I feel pretty good. Trying to eat healthy and take vitamins and minerals.

Stay safe and healthy, everyone. <3<3

I've read some odd things people are doing over the world to make up for the quiet that has taken place and replaced the usual noise of everyday pre covid life.
Going outside at a particular hour and clapping or yelling, some howling at the sky like wolves, opening their windows and singing aloud the same song from the internet together. Id guess its the same thing. I think if I did that here at night id just get told to shut up as I haven't heard anyone here make noise at night other than burnouts.
Another of the same here. Typical Autumn weather, nice days zero c nights.
Hopefully get out for a few hours on my own today.
Stay safe and well everyone.

I heard that people are coordinating expressions of thanks for first responders and medical staff who have worked the COVID-19 debacle.

Clapping, whistling, yelling, honking horns, however noise can be made is acceptable.

I was out today and farted in a Northern direction toward that there New York place. ;) Maybe they all gone bonkers from my doing that of late. My Bean-o-thane is quite potent I'm told. It even painted the walls in our room here a light blue. ;) "Ain't that something?" *chuckling*

Out today to go do laundry in Spencer. It was nice. We got Mickey D's for a bite of lunch. Still watching eating of red meat but I figured a double soya burger (and no, no modern burger joint can tell me they don't use soy in their burgers) and a two ounce baked steak in gravy was not too much today.

Wife is having some pain in her hip. She got to looking it up on the Inter-webs and discovered my telling her that our GP doc would tell her that like me she's getting old, was pretty near on the money.Still I told her she may want to get it checked out for what she read off concerning it. Don't like knowing she's hurting and or scared like that.

Me on other hand, bah, so I get a nail shot into my leg while weed eating? Big deal, pull it out and go get an updated tetanus shot. Go back at it.

It was a bit of scorching, broiling day today. Too muggy to do much out. Still nice but yeah, muggy too. :)

I think the Corona shit just hit home here.

I was antsy and really needed to get the fuck out of my Apt.today. So, I took a bus downtown...a cfew miles from where I am.
Got off the bus and wandered, it'd been a long time since I'd been downtown, used to live thereabouts for many years. A lot has changed.

And....Nothing. Not a damn thing was open. No stores, no restaurants, no bars, nothing. I even asked a homeless gal, is anything open? She said no.

Wow. This was at like 7pm on a Sunday...not late at all for weekend behaviors.

I wandered a bit, had a few interesting convos with various street peeps...then decided I'd call a damn cab and get my azz home. If I hadn't had a cell, I woulda had to walk like 4 miles home. At night. (busses stop early on weekends)

As it happened, I got a cool driver, he cooks Louisiana soul food...used to have a restaurant but it went under and now he works 6 days a week driving Yellow cab to make ends meet. He got me home and I gave him cash plus a tip...they like cash... ;-) I got his number and he wants to hear more about the superhot chiles...lol! Humanity ain't dead.

But yeah, first time in 40 years I seen Downtown utterly dead.at like 8-9pm on a weekend. This is a city of over 400,000 people. Freaking odd.

Came back home to Milly crashed out on the back of the couch waiting for me.....pretty much tackled me coming in the door...heheh. Home is where yer kitteh is...

It’s just strange since they’re doing it at exactly 7pm! They’ve got some car horn that sounds almost musical. It’s not, but it’s not an angry get the hell out of my way horn sound. Just very odd, all in all. If they were protesting or something, I’d expect them to sound angry. They don’t. (??!! )

That must be what it is!! It’s always 7pm. But they’re not saying “thanks first responders”, they’re just woo hoo-ing and honking. Plus I think some neighbors are banging pots and pans.

I feel better knowing what it is. Thank you!! I have a fan and air purifier going in the BR and LR, so it’s kinda hard to hear them outside very well. Now I’ll listen for it!

Where do you live? My neighborhood is dead too. Nothing open, except the bank. And one guy in a street vendor thing selling chicken and rice or pita felafel type food. I saw a couple cabs, but I’d taken a car service. It was a Friday afternoon and there were two cars on the busy shopping street where everything is here. And no people walking around. No street people either. Depressingly empty.

Mon 18 May 2020 10:36:47 AM EDT - Think I'm heading out for some weed eating. Seems a Sisyphean task once Spring & Summer come along. About mid-October it'll probably be done for the season.

Yep, really motivated to go. Sure I am.

The start of what should be an SSDD week.

Raining this morning which is unusual for central Cali in May. I'll take it though. Highs in the 70s today and tomorrow, then starts to heat back up to the 80s and 90s.

Me, my wife, and the critters are all fine.

Still good here. Stressful times.
Work is going well. My clients are all very conscientious about keeping distance while I'm in their homes, as well as cleaning before I arrive and after i leave and mask wearing.

Joining my wife on a low calorie, high protein diet. Cutting it down to 1800 calories a day. I was eating over 2800 a day. Im doing this along with an app called myfitnesspal. You scan in the food you eat, log your meals, it tells you the nutritional content, what's good and bad. Tells you when you eat too much. Makes me really conscious of the junk food and soda I shove down my throat. Im doing this in hopes that it can help me get down below 220lbs, and feel better.

But the most important reason im doing this, is to support my wife. She is going through this diet, has been for months. She has lost quite a bit of weight. But she has a hypoactive thyroid. Causes her to fight constantly with weight along with other medical problems. She has been doing this diet for months to prepare for bariatric surgery. She is having a gastric sleeve procedure where they remove a large portion of the stomach leaving a small, sleeve shaped stomach. Safer surgery than having your gallbladder out and will help eliminate some of her medical problems as well as keep and maintain a stable, comfortable weight.

She goes under the knife June 3rd and will be kept for two days.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit scared.

Taking the misses for a corona test today, guess they'll do me too. I feel 100% normal. She though felt a bit off a few days ago and now has flu like symptoms that have got worse. No fever but all the rest. Probably is just a flu as it is our season for it. But how is that. We spend almost all our time in isolation distancing and she has only been out twice in two weeks near people. Once a quick shop taking all precautions and one trip to the chemist to get her medication for pain and covering her hands with sanitiser, mask on, wiping down the shopping and gets a flu! Reckon it is just a flu but better safe than sorry. Guess that's the norm now, get a cold/flu and get a covid test. Used to be just stay home and rest.
Hope everyone else is well here and stays that way.

Good luck with it all. Yeah surgery is a nervous time anyway let alone now with everything going on! Here is hoping it all goes smoothly for you both with a great outcome.

Good on you for taking a little better care of yourself while supporting your Mrs

A lot of us here are super into alternative health food/medicine - she may want to look at alternatives to surgery

I know the hypoactive thyroid issues are pretty scary

Checking in!

Another day of cleaning out the restaurant. Getting close to done. One big push for all the large equipment, then a day or two of cleaning....then.....all the paperwork, phone calls and meetings. Ugh.

I also have a meeting of sorts tomorrow. Another restaurant person reached out to talk about “future plans”. We’ll see what that means. They’re the second person to reach out about “future plans”. I have no future plans. Hahaha!

We’re all healthy and good here. Hope y’all are the same. Thinking about ya!:blowkiss:

Monday check in. We are all well here, so far, 2368 new cases in the state today and people here are upset that the state isn't completely open. Some are trying to sue the governor for the lockdown. They are going crazy across the river, Had another riot yesterday, only 60 people but one fatality:eek:. And today police got a call for shots fired and when they got there there was only one person there, a corpse:eek:. Both of there happened in mid afternoon, usually they wait till night to start popping caps:rolleyes:.
Wish I had a better report,
But hey, we're still virus free:bliss:
Everyone stay safe and healthy
