Does everybody but me love the Profile RDA?

and no deck pics. does it have larger mesh ?

It supposedly has a larger deck and larger mesh. Perhaps that means more flavor. It also means burning more juice. Other than testing at night with small RDAs, all of my vaping is with the Profile and the Unity. I go through a shitload of juice every day. I'm going to keep track one of these days, but it's got to be around 50-70 ml per day. Even though I DIY, it's still a lot and I don't need to burn anymore for an incremental increase in flavor as I have more than enough of it already.

pretty much waiting as well. For me a v.2 would have a knurled ring on the top cap and springs on the clamps, V1.5 has neither Personally I do not need more airflow or a bigger deck, and not interested in A1 mesh..

I just ordered a Kylin M because I just saw one for the first time the other day. Three things caught my eye. The springs on the clamp, the posts within the clamps which make positioning the coil a breeze and the top airflow. The latter very well may cut down the flavor, but the thought of no leaking is appealing. If they put the first two items on a new Profile I'd probably get a couple for that reason alone.

It looks like a way to squeeze some more money outta us Profile fans more than some serious innovation. Add a little surface area because us mesh fans love that, and attach an awesome name like chill or extreme, you know something to vape as I chug a Mountain Dew while snowboarding down Mt. Everest with my best bro’s. Seriously though I’m sure it’s a great rda just not different enough from the original to add anything worth replacing my OG profiles for. That’s my two pennies on the subject anyway and if I’m wrong it just means there’s an awesome new rda I need to buy.

Since I have lost count of my Profiles and Unitys , it would have to be a major improvement, and I'm not sure it is possible.

Exactly. My original Profiles give me plenty of flavor the way they're built. No need to buy this 1.5 or whatever.
No need to get sucked into this. Sounds like the Pulse 80w going to the 90w with Tony B. standing next to it with a big grin on his face!

yep. they have to come up with something. much like movies, they keep rehashing the same shit.

:giggle:

basicly.... sometimes things are not made to be "used". they are made to be "sold".

if the mesh becomes dirt cheap, i would get one, under $20.

I agree. I'm not the hugest fan of the Profile to begin with, but I came to like it pretty well for what it is after awhile.

A problem, or a reality I should say, is that due to the nature of mesh strips and how they must be mounted and wicked, there's only so much you can do with the airflow etc. It's not like with regular coils where they are suspended from different types of posts or sticking out of holes with empty space around them to play with.

Although I personally don't think the Kylin M holds a candle to the Unity for performance, I LOVE the spring loaded clamps.

I agree with your assessment, as I like short powerful hits of like two to three seconds tops which mesh works especially well with. If you like a longer slower pull I think mesh would be problematic providing a hit that was acceptable.

Hi guys, been a while! :D

i have an issue I need help with but would also like to mention on the most recent topic that I have the 1.5 on its way (but I sold my 2nd Profile and missed it so needed another anyway) and also bought the VandyVape Mesh v2 which Im loving, mostly on par with the old Profile but enjoying it more because I have been having Profile issues recently! :(

this is maybe more of a Topside Carbon issue than the Profile but its when i am using the SS316 Nexmesh strips. First few months they worked perfectly, had this issue once or twice but rebuilt and fixed. The TC mode just does not agree with them at all. It read the strip as 0.15 in Wattage mode but 0.14 in TC and less than a second after I fire it does the constant stutter thing when its controlling the temp down.

I have used this setup since I got the Carbon and never been an issue, somewhere between 50-60w and 220C temp and its never been an issue. It did it with a build last week and I couldnt get it working so I rebuilt, worked fine, no issues at all for about 5days then suddnly (with nothing changed anywhere) started again and I couldnt get it to stop. So rebuilt yesterday and having it right from the get go.

I cant figure it out and its really pissing me off! Does anyone on here have the Profile/Carbon and any ideas? Its like I need to force the mod to re-read the Ohms but I cant find a way to do that.

thanks in advance!

Two problems I have noticed with the nexmesh316 in TC mode. And this only happens with the Carbon and DNA 250 mods. The slightest bit of gunk on the coil or any sag in the cotton will will make the mod misread the resistance. Of course when I adjust for it works fine but occasionally misfire and overheat the mesh..I think the Yihi and dna chip are so sensitive to a change to a change of .01 ohms where that effects the TC.Most of the time a cleaning and rewick fixes it. If the mesh overheats , replace....

Thanks man, yeah that was my thinking as I never have the issue on my regular TS Dual. Only thing I would say to counter this is that twice its happened to me right from the off on a fresh build, so no gunk or anything. Not sure how that could be? Its like it tries to heat up wayyy too quickly so starts stuttering instantly trying to regulate.

Normally if this would happen I would unscrew the RDA to blank out the ohms, put it back on to make it re-read, or if the mod has the feature, just force it to recalculate ohms but as far as i can see the TS Carbon doesnt have this feature? Or am I missing it?

PS, not sure I should trust anything you say with post #666 !

found this exact same issue as well ...DNA as well and that was using VV 316L mesh ...cotton being packed in is a must otherwise the mesh heats up so damn fast it confuses TC

On the Unity I have to pack the cotton quite tight, not so much the rda. Getting pretty used to it happening, when the resistance starts to rise I see it as the check engine light....LOL

Yeah true, weirdly after the first build working for a week then doing it, the new build yesterday doing it straight away I just tried again (have been using wattage mode since) and its suddenly working again?! So weird. I just realised theres a firmware update to the Carbon aswell so done that and hopefully it helps.

My 1.5 has arrived!

Nice looking thing and seems OK so far, only issue is I picked it up from the post office on the way to a mates and I got so impatient that I built it there with the cotton etc from the box and only had the juice I had on me which is a bit meh even in the last Profile. So going to rewick today and put my favourite cotton and juice in so will update later :D

One wee question while im here for anyone using the Profile/Topside combo. How wet is the bit around the 510 hole on the mod when you remove the RDA? Mine always has a really thick layer of juice, way more than I remember getting with any other combo. Not sure if its because theres more pressure to push through the cotton on this, does everyone else get this too?

*** UPDATE ***

They fucked it :(

Not massively... I think the bigger mesh deffo gives a bit more flavour and vapour as expected but that airflow is shite. The top row is barely angled and just even just a hole or 2 open starts muting the flavour. Having it fully open just kills it. I dont think the thinner topcap helps either, because the old one was so thick the air would go more straight out and along onto the mesh, whereas this one - impossible to tell but you get the feeling that - the air just seems to comes straight up from the holes.

However the clamps and screws are miles better in this one though. I think this deck with the old topcap would be perfect, I'd happily take adding a mm to the overall RDA to make the topcap thicker and bring back the old airflow would be spot on. I started on the 'extreme' mesh at 80w so still to try my favourite (VV 316l spool cut to size) so you never know, that could make a difference as I dont think any of the Wotofo or Nexmesh were as good as the VV in the original Profile.

All in all, its good but a little disappointing.

Wet but contained..
I think
i heard Joel say they redesigned it for those that wanted higher airflow and higher wattage, that right there ruled me out. If it aint broke, don't fix it....I still use my profiles/unity s most of the time but haveadded the Kelpie to my favorites.

I got the Kelpie as well just because its from my favourite reviewer and fellow Scot, felt I had to haha but Im not agreeing with it, its a bit too restrictive for me (OG profile fully open is my ideal) and I cant get it to stop slightly leaking, but only if I leave it for a day, think it would be OK if it was like the only thing I used.

Wee update on the 1.5... I couldnt get the flavour right at all on the Extreme mesh, best i got was at 80w with top air closed but that made it too restrictive and warm for me. Pulled it out and tried the 'Chill'. First 4 pulls I instantly thought was much better but then it very quickly lost flavour completely. I was with a couple of mates and let them try at first, then again after a few mins and all agreed the flavour was gone even though the squonking right through the centre was soaking the mesh and cotton, squonked in as much as I could fit then it started giving me hint of dry hits on the 2nd pull!

So I put my fav VV 316l in and used on TC mode, this has by far been the best Ive had so far from it but still something doesnt seem right... Maybe its like the OG where we all figure out little tweaks to improve, maybe just this needs different tweaks and havent figured out yet. So far I would buy another OG over one of these. I'll be honest, I think I would buy another VV Mesh V2 over both of them!

I got the topside dual and using the drop RDA, mine has juice around the 5/10 connection too. since I have screwed the RDA tighter onto the mod it's a little less. But I noticed some is from leaking out of my air flow too. It gathers round the bottom of the RDA and looks like it's coming from the 5/10..

Yeah i have the Drop aswell, that was pretty easy to leak with the bottom airholes being so low. With the Profile I have the clear frosted white topcap which is so handy cause i can squonk right up to below the airflow but not go over. My issue is deffo just coming out of the gap between the 510 connection but just way worse on the Profile/Topside than with anything else. It never actually comes out to being visible but when i remove the RDA theres a thick fully covered circle of juice and theres juice filled right up in the 510 hole in both the mod and RDA squonk pin, even after an hours use.

Its probably just that because the Profile has the squonk pin covered with thick cotton there so much more pressure needed to push through thats its escapaing everywhere it can. On a normal RDA where squonking has no pressure to it I dont get this issue, (or at least just a tiny bit).

To stop the leaking on the Kelpie, (in my best Scottish accent) cut the wick a wee bit longer than Vic recommends, prime and tuck in the top of channels.

Guys,

Apologies first of all, but dont beleive everything I said above about the Profile 1.5! I should have tested more before giving it a bad rep :(

So during work I've been dripping using VV Mesh v2 on a Nunchaku v2. And for travelling home at night, been squonking on the Profile 1.5 on Topside Carbon. Key thing to note here is on both I have been using the same juice from the same bottle, just filling the squonk bottle with it and dripping on the other.

Yesterday I decided to switch the pins in both and swap them round on the mods so i can get a decent vape on the way home. Also when swapping I did not change the builds/wick at all, left them exactly as they were. So I did this a lunch, took the Profile 1.5 outside on my last break on the Nunchaku and dripping on it. Amazingly I finally had the flavour of my juice actually come through without the weird off / muted taste to it. Was actually really nice, maybe on par with the original Profile but too early too tell.

I then took the VV Mesh v2 with my for the journey home which had been working perfectly and tasting amazing for the past week. First few pulls were as good as they always were, but as soon as I squonked some more it, the flavour instantly disappeared to a weird muted 'off' taste, the same one I had been getting since day 1 in the Profile.

Common denominator = the Squonk bottle

This would make sense as when i rebuilt the 1.5 a few times it always tasted OK first few pulls (when I had dripped to prime). So I made a mistake, and the 1.5 isnt as bad as I made out. Will need more time to confirm, will need to get a new squonk bottle to test with and will rebuild both RDAs from scratch so theres no leftover funky juice from the bottle still sitting in the cottons. Ive never had this issue with squonk before and now wondering if my last juice i wasnt enjoying was the cause of this taste or if the bottle was affetcing the flavour!

I'm much happier with my purchase now, but still to confirm if I prefer the old or new version of the Profile better.

Hello Profile lovers. Lightning Vapes is running a 30% off sale and has nexMESH strips for $6 a pack (roughly). China's probably cheaper but you might find something else you want there. Just a heads up!
*discounted prices show up in the cart page*
https://lightningvapes.com/ofrf-nexmesh-replacement-coils/#

They also have a bunch of cottons. I've never seen all 3 Native Wicks in one place before.

Yes I have but only the kanthal version. I got a SS316L mesh roll on the way (150 grade?). I wasn't really interested in SS mesh. But as others have said they like it, I've gotten more interested. I ordered SS Nexmesh from Lightning to try as well.

The kanthal mesh works pretty good but seems to loose it's bright flavor faster than nexmesh for me. The VV ka1 mesh starts pretty awesome but that fades a bit it seems. Maybe I need to do more testing because it just seems that way to me. Maybe it's because I run more wattage through it? I dunno...

I got a couple Yacht Vape Mesh Lock RDAs from My Freedom Smokes for only ten bucks a piece. The mesh it comes with is bigger than the Profile V1 mesh. I'm guessing its the size the Profile 1.5 uses. It also vapes awesome for such a cheap atomizer. Some people might be turned off by the clamp style but I had zero trouble getting mine going.

It comes with two each of two types of mesh. Replacement mesh strips are only $2.99 for 10 of them! I'll see if I still need to trim VV mesh (from a roll) and report back.

Hmmmmm. You can get just the deck.
I like it. It's like the Digiflavor Themis. Same everything but can use coil/mesh decks, and top airflow too.

I posted this in another thread but Smoant made a subohm tank that can use mesh coils but also included is a RBA. The rebuildable deck can be set up with a wire coil or mesh. Here's the deck-

honestly i only like mesh on mechs, i know weird right? i absolutely love the profile and the unity with the 1.8 kanthal strips running on a mech. Gives me mid range warm vape with tons of flavor and it just feels different than a regulated.

An RDA and a bottle always wins hands down. But that's for me, not everyone.
I bet you would love the Zeus X with the Mesh deck. Maybe not more than a squonking Profile, but I bet you'd love it.

BTW, nice to see you back around :) That superman baggie you sent me is still in use as my working wick bag. I throw a few pads and some Rayon in there to keep it handy while storing the rest.
