Now I'm in a pissy mood. I despise computer problems. And I just got this tablet a week ago, and at a time when money is really tight. But, my other one had next to zero battery life, and was going wonky every few minutes. I just can't exist with just a phone. The screen and keyboard are too small, and make me crazy. It seems pretty nice for an el cheapo. Has an external keyboard, USB and other ports, and a camera. My old tablet didn't have anything.

It also has Word, and other things I've been missing since my friend destroyed my desktop downloading some spoof website :(

that really sucks roxy, not sure what you are using or what your needs are for a computer. but the inexpensive notebook computers are really not bad for basic home use.

I live in an all Apple world as my wife is a photographer. I have an iPhone but I was ok with Windoze. Fast forward to a few months ago and my box died. Wife and all the kidz are on me to get an iMac. Nope. I know everything. So another Windoze box with Windoze10.

Last ever MS product. What a steaming pile of shit. I hate this computer so much I'd like to...................well at any rate I'll get by.

But for a fact I'm going Apple moving forward.

That's why, when my mom needed a new PC for xmas, i told her DO NOT GET WIN 10!!!!!!!!! GET WIN 8.1!!!!!!!!!! It's not QUITE as stable as winXP Pro, but not too far from it; in about 13 months of constant use, it's frozen on me so I had to turn it off just twice -- with winME, that happened weekly. I'd give it (8.1) about a 7, maybe 7.5, on a scale from 1-10. XP Pro was about a 9.

I switched to Mac last May - it was the best move I ever made. Took me three weeks to relearn everything, but Windows can kiss my ass.

I entered the contest and if I win I'm gonna give it to Roxy for putting the awesome in the Boreas.

But I never win anything Roxy so don't get to excited. But I am serious.

That's a really good idea. I haven't entered, because I don't really need a new PC, so I figured I'd stay out of it to keep the clutter down for those who really want it. But I could enter, and if i win, just give it to Roxy.

I'm just having the worst few weeks. My friend's 19 year old son, who is like my nephew, has terminal cancer. That has been devastating, and I just don't know how to even begin dealing with it.

Everything else is just minor aggravations. Broken fridge, tablet going haywire, broken dvr (which has 4 parrots screaming because they want to watch TV, and don't understand why they can't).

We are still dealing with FEMA.

If you ever get a chance to dance with FEMA (3 years now) just bash your head into a wall until you smarten up.

If I ever get done dealing with them I swear from that day forward I'll never complain again.

After many years of working in IT, I have to say my preference is:

Windows 7
Windows 10
Windows XP pro (all though no one should be running xp anymore)
Windows 8.1

I have a laptop and desktop running 10 flawlessly. I have no issues at all with either one and I have run it since it was available.

I support win 7 machines daily and it's a great OS.

8 sucked, 8.1 was better, but I still prefer 10 over it.

I'm 19 years sober but I still know how wonderful a drink would be until the cops get here.

I'm just fucking around, I been sober a long time so I'm kewl.

GOOD to know. I bought the graduating dawter a new laptop that I intend to give her when she gets her diploma in a few weeks. It came with 8.1 on a regular sata HDD. I put in a 2nd 8gb ram to use readystart or whatever it is, and an MSata SSD that I WANT to make the boot drive. I do all the IT for my businesses too, been doing board level work since the 8088 chip.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to dumb down to Win7, or upgrade to 10. Taking your awesome advice, I'm going to go for Win10. She knows 7 well, but the workplace in graphical illustration will be using Win10. She hates Macs but a lot of folks in her field use em. She's after my own heart. ;)

Now if I can just get Samsung Magician to move her OS to the SSD, I'm in. Not as simple as they make it sound.. grrrr....

My major resistance to win10 is that it's 10, not 10.1... I've learned since Dos4 to wait till it's a .1 or at least a .01 release, to avoid some of the worst of being MS's beta testers.

But this inquiring mind would love to know... what exactly makes 10 better than 8.1? If they ever release a 10.1, I might be interested, if I know exactly why it's better.
