That shit don't get it, down here in the south, where we really do say "y'all come back!" when a customer leaves. And when you sit down, the waitress runs right over and says " what can I get for y'all?" That's hospitality. Apparently the south is the only place you can find it.

Andria
It's the only location I've found it.....:)

10 years ago maybe, but not so much now. At least not in the part of the south I am in.

How's life treatin ya at home?....:vino:

Bet you can't wait to get back to the choppers......:headbang:

I always been an odd ball like that. When its time to be at work, then that is where I belong. The ex got so mad at me many times when I was out recuperating from a surgery and pushing like hell for a return to work slip. :giggle: Never did tell her I could only stand being in the house with her for so long before it was time to get the fuck out of there :xD:

How yall fugee's doin tonight?

TBH... I'm kinda down. I wanted to watch last night's DVR'ed Person of Interest, but my husband found it more interesting to stare at coins for sale on ebay. And I keep checking tracking for my incoming pkg from e-aromashop, and there keeps NOT being any updates.:sad: So I'm thinking maybe an early bedtime. Sleep is about the only cure for what ails me, since booze is out of the question.

My husband is like that too. If he has nothing to do, he's miserable. We got married during a late-summer model year changeover (Detroit, auto industry), and after 2 wks of staring at each other in a 2 room cabin, I thought I had made a dreadful mistake. but once he went back to work... all was well, and the honeymoon commenced. Until about a month later when I got pregnant. Guess that was a hellacious honeymoon. :)

When I first moved down here in the early 80's it was enchanting the way people was. Kids was polite and always said mam and sir, people was usually always friendly, but in the last ten years or so it has changed a lot.
Just like everywhere else....sad really. I guess that generation is long gone.

I'm from Atlanta, lived here my whole life except for that 5 yrs in MI... but the place that really knocked me out with pure southern niceness was Charleston, SC. Even the pimply adolescents in fast-food joints.... nice, polite, friendly... I was amazed! Atlanta's like a hotbed of furriners in the middle of the deep south. :D

Damn mo...I haven't played Pinochle in 30 years, actually forgot all about it....that is a great card game....!

There is a website, worldofcardgames.com, that has all the classics. The people in the public rooms can be REAL jerks. Often quitting when behind and such. But once you become known as a decent person, you get invited to the private tables, where everyone knows your name. THEN it is a RIOT. THOSE ladies take gossip and chat to a WHOLE nother level.

One of the players, a very sweet lady and retired school teacher in Switzerland, is coming to spend a week with my family at the end of this month. And we are invited to go stay with her. Much like here, we all know all about each other, and the support, warmth, and kindnesses are amazing. The Bama Belle lost her husband last fall. Fell into dark depression. So far, 4 of the players have gone and spent time with her to keep her on the rails. THAT'S caring. She wanted a memorable way to bury his ashes. He loved the birds that sing in their trees, so I sent her an urn that includes a small tree that envelopes and grows around the ashes, that she could plant in her yard. She just thought that was the most amazing thing... I passed the idea by her first, very carefully. She planted it right in front of her porch.

Mo....You got me taking notes:

Truffles
Pinochle deck
Epoisses

Ah, the good ol days.

When I was 18, my dad introduced me to 2 of his great loves... B&B liqueuer and partner spades. I'm still good at the latter, and damn did i put a hurt on some bottles of B&B when my husband and I got together. He just thought it was funny, how I could suck that 80 proof sugar down and never get sick. :D (the glory of alcoholism!)

We ALL played spades, then the site added Double deck pinochle. A lot of the ladies prefer it, but just when I REALLY had the nuances in spades figured out. Well, Southern Lights, the Bama Belle, schooled me, and she doesn't TOLERATE mistakes. I'm struggling through learning the nuances of Pinochle just now, with apologies in advance of each game.

I loved how it would evaporate off your tongue. That really was magical! But a really bad hangover from that cured me of it forever. After that it was just beer and tequila... till that finally made inroads on my liver and I figured it was better to be sober and living, than drunk and dead. :)

Partner spades is pretty magical, too, when you can count and remember cards. I don't care for gambling, but I figure I might last about 10 minutes in a casino before they'd run me out and ban me. :D

There's a great old Dire Straits song on Pandora right now, that reminds me of Detroit/Pontiac... Telegraph Road, from Love Over Gold. Brilliant music!

Mark Knopfler is one of the least recognized of the greatest guitarists EVER, I think. Telegraph Rd. is a FABULOUS song, but it isn't about OUR Telegraph road, is it? Oh, I spent many a Friday and Saturday night racing on THAT strip. I had this sleeper '72 Gran Torino Sport... :)

There is a handful of Liqueur's I can tolerate. B&B being one of them. Cointreau is another I can drink straight. The Dad used to drink Bols Blue Curacao.. I don't know how...

No, I think it's a "generic" "main road in town" kind of Telegraph Road. San Francisco has one I think, and it's probably a common road name in a lot of towns. But when I hear "Telegraph Road," SE MI is what I think of -- lived near it, right off Fort St, in Southgate, and Trenton, downriver, then went up it some miles when my husband was working in Auburn Hills; first in Lake Orion, at Rustic Cabins -- hence the 2 room cabin when we were first together -- and later, the top floor of a renovated farmhouse in Pontiac, when our son was born, and then later a real nice apartment in Pontiac, before the auto industry had one of its frequent belly-ups and we came running south where there are people who give a rat's ass if I have something to eat. :D Plus I wanted my son to have the benefit of an extended family; mine is pretty large, but most of my husband's is gone.

TRULY. One of those few people you KNOW you got lucky coming to know....
I actually seem to be VERY lucky in that regard, or there are WAY more of them than we imagine. She SCARED me into becoming a good spades player. It was SO disturbing to disappoint her...

My last 3 high school years were in Dearborn Hgts, a couple miles from Telegraph and Ford Rd. My first wife and I owned a house two BLOCKS from that corner. I fell outta the habit when I left the house, of kissing her goodbye, and before long, I was kissing the house goodbye.. ;)

The singer for Sublime and Alice in chains were a terrible losses to music..... They were talented...... For real.....

Sent from my 710C using Tapatalk

Agreed on all four counts, they both are great losses and both were highly talented. Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon was as well. He too got lost chasing a dragon. That's why I said, it's just odd I find myself drawn to these artists. Maybe it isn't odd though.
