If you pull out the fluff on those carto's you will also tear out the coil that's built in the fluff and they won't work.

Better to get 510 bridgeless dripping atomizers. Us old school Vapers used those before there was anything else.

But they're old school and expensive for the better ones like joytech. I'm thinking the 310's were what I preferred.

Anyway, just water down your VG and you can use any modern tank you want

umm nopes.. i used them for over 6 months last year..
never had a coil issue when jerking out the fluff.. as they are horizontal bottom coils ;)

and 4.99 for a pack of 5.. hmm..
i used to buy 4 packs at a time..

I've never seem one built like that and I've torn apart many if them, but I'm sure if you say they started building them that way, I guess anything is possible .

@HeadInClouds, You've mentioned that you vape exclusively VG--some flavorings' bases aside. @Smoky Blue, it looks like you have experience with all-VG liquids too.
My mom, also a vaper, has tinnitus at times and I am thinking of making some VG-only liquids for her. Because of its viscosity, I am concerned her vaping apparatus won't handle it well. Various comments I've come across online warn against using high VG fluid in tanks. She has a bottom-feeding pyrex/stainless steel Aspire tank and Protank Mini 2, as well as cheaper plastic tanks of the GS-H2 variety. What is your guys take on high VG and vape gear? Do we need special equipment? Any input appreciated!

You do NOT need any special equipment. I use only tanks and max-VG. I use about 15% distilled water in my nic base (which is just VG plus water plus VG-based nic at my preferred nic strength). That thins it perfectly for my EVOD, mini-pro-tank-clone, and similar bottom-coil tanks.

@Smoky Blue : Thanks for the link to the 510 cartos. I was looking at joining a coop for the bridgeless ones you mentioned, @Thunderball (thanks :)) and had the idea they could be rebuilt--which would be a plus--but didn't follow through. (I'm pretty paralyzed by indecisiveness when it comes to vape-related purchases lately!)
I may experiment with either or both of them myself, but asking my mom to learn to use a new piece of equipment at the moment will not go over well as she is still adjusting to not smoking, etc.
Smoky, I like the price of the cartos but 3-4 uses each seems like not much. Did you find you could refill/rebuild them for more uses?

What is it you don't like about the result when adding water? Why is alcohol preferable?

And if you feel like it, since I won't be able to do the "Smoky Vanillin Test" you recommended for a while, any thoughts you have on how/why/where vanillin might be superior to vanilla would be a bonus. :)

one carto should last 1 week, if not longer..
if your juice has zero additives, like sweets that normally clog coils..
keep that out of your juice and they will last even longer.. :)
they can not be rebuilt, but it is easy to transition to them.
one friend of mine had one going for over 8 months, but vaped plain juice, just nic and vg..

i like them still, and i use drippers ;) i will still use one, if my drippers ever broke..
i never did like the clearos or cheap atties.. not enough draw for me..

i just personally don't like adding water to my juice..
i like and enjoy it thick, it's easy on my throat..

vanillin is a booster, vanilla flavor is just that :)

I will try using a few things to thin out VG and "figure it all out" --or some of it, anyway--eventually ;)
Vanillin is a booster! Maybe that explains why it takes so much more to create a vanilla-like flavor. You probably wouldn't use it for that, generally.
Thanks for the feedback, all.

Ditto. That's my recipe as well -- though I primarily drip, this also works flawlessly in mini ProTanks 2s. Primarily vape on Magma and Veritas but excited about Orchid V4 arriving next week.

I've said it before, I'm sayin' it again. FA FIG! This is just some really good stuff. brought to you by a friend that didn't like fruit vapes until FA.

*sigh* what are you doing to your fig to make it taste like ripe fig? I think I'm missing fig tastebuds....

Oh that's sad! I'm not doing anything special to it, at all. I usually mix it at 2%, I think? I'll check my notes. Have you tried it with amber or anything? Maybe adding pear or apple in a tiny amount? I just read somewhere about orange, lemon or even brown sugar could boost the flavor. I wonder... hmm. Worked for Fig Newtons, lol.

I just had an idea. What if you mixed Apricot with it. Maybe you'd finally taste the apricot! Kind of kidding, but it's such a light flavor, for me, too, that I wonder if it could add something to it.

haha - the two flavors I can't taste for the life of me, except with real fruit! But nothing to lose!

You know just maybe those lost taste buds do eventually return. Two flavors that have always been tasteless to me were TFA chocolates and caramels. Just popped top on flavor samples, six months after mixing and 12 months after quitting cigarettes, and they actually smelled like the flavors represented (though didn't vape). Maybe it's just a question of enough time...

Where is @Hermit these days? I wanna hear about those AtmosLabs flavors. If FA doesn't come out with some new flavors, I'm gonna roam...

fig...with marzipan and cocoa...mmmm!

Who has Fig Newtons?? I've never gotten the right figginess (is too a word) from FA Fig to make that.
Bryon had one, wasn't bad. I was thinking about one yesterday. What about 2% fig, 1@ cookie, 0.5% some citrus, and you decide what % molasses, because I don't have it yet.

Maybe someone can help me here...

I got another bottle of FA Fresh Cream, but this time I got it from BCV. The first one came from PV and my second one came from ECX. I don't remember this being the case, but my new bottle (in an amber PET) smells exactly like the notes I've seen about Meringue (though I've never tried that one), but not like how I remember Fresh Cream smelling. And the taste of it in my mix tastes QUITE egg-y. It's not that this is a bad thing, on the contrary, but I need to know what gives. Did I miss something the first few times, or is it *possible* that this bottle is mislabeled. Man, when I say this is egg-y, it is egg-y.

I've never gotten eggy out of Fresh Cream, myself, nor meringue. I think glassgrl and Tball both said they did. I think. From meringue... left that out, sorry.

This is very strange. I am almost at the point where I am going to have to send this bottle to someone to see if I am going crazy. The problem is that I really like the mix I made with it, but I really don't believe this is the Fresh Cream that I have just used so much of recently. I mean, Fresh Cream never really added a flavor note necessarily, it was more of a shaper at 1.5%. This, on the other hand, has definitely added an whipped egg white note. From the bottle though, it actually smells kinda rotten -- not terribly rotten, but n.o.t exactly "fresh."

Edit: This bottle came from ECX. (So many orders.)

OK. Meringue to me, smells kind of sweet. Almost reminds me of sugar cookies baking. Fresh Cream, not as sweet. Not an unpleasant scent, just... not sweet, not eggy. Neither smell eggy to me. Anyone have thoughts that can compare them?

I suppose it's possible you were sent a mislabeled bottle. I'd inquire with the vendor most certainly!

Try a few drops in water - see if you get a weird taste. (Try and make it 2% or something like that)

Yeah, just sent an email. The part that sucks is that my mix is god with this liquid, whatever the hell it is! Oy vey. Hmmm...anyone want to receive this bottle to compare (I highly doubt ECX will have me send it back)? I don't even want to make anymore mixes with it until I KNOW I will be able to recreate them. I am going to order some more Fresh Cream and Meringue and hopefully I will be able to come to some sort of resolution.

Weird - I'm happy to compare it for you - you could just send a tiny bit. I've not had a problem with ECX, but Bull City sells in original bottles if that's a concern.

Afterthought - I wonder if it's Whipped cream, instead of Fresh cream?

Oh, I wonder if those were the notes that I had seen about egg? Sure, I will send some over to you.

p.s. Howdy. :)

Do you have Vienna Cream? When I hear eggy, I think egg yolks and eggnog, and Vienna Cream.

Wait a minute...I do have that, but it's from PV in one of those little sample bottles, so I can't get a large whiff from it. But, trying it on the back of my hand, I think those two are quite close, but not the same. Wow, good call though. Maybe I will try and substitute with the Vienna Cream for this mix until I figure it out.

Do you happen to have a little PV bottle of whipped cream to compare?
