Welcome! I've never tried any RY4, but I'm hoping more folks who have will chime in. I know it's been discussed in this thread, though, so a search may be helpful. Lots of talented mixers here, so glad you joined in :)
Thanks for all the welcomes. My friend Mr. Mann suggested I check you all out, and he was right. It's been useful and fun.
I'll have to do a search on FA RY4 and see what pops up.

But I have to look at it this way - if I spend $50 on a carton of cigarettes, they're gone in a week. That same $50 on DIY supplies will make enough vapors to last me MUCH longer than a week! There's no comparison to the money you're actually saving and there's certainly NO price tag on your health. Maybe you could even talk the wife into joining you. ☺

^^^ Yeah, that right there! That's how I justified spending on flavorings, too. Eventually, you won't need to buy as many as often, and you'll save some real $$ then. If you're starting with mostly FA flavors, you'll get to that point faster than I did.

I love Fa ry4. So good. for me it was never a flavor i liked before FA and the FA was still an aquired taste for myself. I know most people like ry4. Anyways now I really enjoy it.

Yay! More new friends. :) Welcome @stasek! I love the old thread. I still cruise it, looking for things, now and then. Boy, those were some times! I feel pretty confident that you'll find this one worthy of the time it takes to get through it, too. It's the best way to get to know everyone and still join in as it moves along.

I was cruising Fasttech earlier, and boyfriend was like, hey get me x of these, x of those and... so I asked "is that all? I was kidding, but he started justifying it being cheaper than smoking. "Oh, no, I agree honey. That's why I'm ok with all those bottles of flavor that I own." He gave me a look, then said, "well, that's true and you enjoy it." He did admit to me that I'd have spent more on smoking and he shut his mouth about my flavors, lol.

Thanks to Daintanee's pestering me :), here is the latest incarnation of my Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

Pinapple Upside Down Cake

4% Cap Vanilla Custard V2
1.5% FA Pineapple
1% FA Vienna Cream
1% FA Almond
1% TFA Brown Sugar
0.5% FA Caramel
0.5% Inawera Sesame
0.5% CAP Cake Batter
0.25 FA Honey

After vaping both for a week, here is no doubt in my mind that this is the better version. Thanks Daintanee.

Note: If you just mix the flavors you can cut down on the amount you use in the juice to what suits you. I like it full strength.
Me a pest?! Sticking my fingers in my ears while I sing la,la,la,la,la! Dangit, got every flavor but that sesame! Have to pick some up in a while.

First post EVER on VU... Started vaping as a new year's resolution. So far so good - except the part about saving money :).
Last week, I decided to jump head first into diy'ing my own juice. First and foremost.... COULD YOU STOP POSTING IN THIS FORUM for at least a months or so? I can't keep up :). I'm about 40% through that other thread and only scratched the surface over here - wouldn't want to miss anything important.
My first order from ECX included roughly 20 flavors/flavor enhancers, 1L 30/70 PG/VG, and 250ml 100mg nic (plus bottles, syringes, etc) I wish ECX had better selection of FA (or at least more flavors in stock) - I tried couple flavors from INW, LA, FW, and FE, but they generally suck - at least compared to the FA stuff I tried. I'm going through some of the great recipes posted here and keep saying, nope - don't have this, nope - don't have that.... DAMN! Now, I've put together a little more comprehensive list at e liquid mart (roughly 30 flavors) which should help :). All I have to do is press SUBMIT and there goes another $50! :)

So far, I've tried mixing one/two fruits with some FA Fresh Cream/Meringue/Vanilla Classic just to get a feel for what each one brings to the table, and for the most part, everything is pretty vapable). My favorite so far? Fuji Apple 4%, White Peach 2%, vanilla classic 1%, and fresh cream 1%. The apple is so damn good! Oh well, back to reading... Just wanted to say hello :)
Hey stasek! Take notes as you go through. Took me 3 mos. I finished last mos. And got bored. Hi to u!

I've been trying to talk her into vaping every day! She actually tried for a day or two, but somehow didn't like it. I'm guessing she didn't care for the juices she tried (can't say I blame her - the first few I bought were terrible). She keeps saying how she doesn't want to vape nicotine - well, hello, hello - let me get my supplies, couple ml of this, couple ml of that, quick steep and bingo!
Can't get my husband to vape either...tried different liquids, nicotine,....he says it's the aftertaste...which he describes as burnt dirty socks! And smoking tastes better??

Sounds familiar . . . my husband doesn't like it, either. He only smokes one or two cigs a day, though, so I don't bust his chops over it. Ha ha . . . I probably wouldn't vape, either, if my "one or two" was cigs instead of packs :D

total opposite here. Mrs. C. never smoked. she started vaping zero nic shortly after I started vaping. every once in a awhile she will steal a toot off my 6 mg and she has a couple bottles of 3mg stashed around for "emergencies" haha.

My hubby has never smoked but has severe asthma. His list of scrips is as long as my leg and he's hospitalized at least once a year, usually twice. Never touched a cigarette but one doc told him he was born with the lungs of an 80-year-old lifetime smoker. But I've read that there are certain vapors that can be beneficial to asthmatics. Would love to find out exactly which ones these are and if any of them would help him.

she was trying to be supportive of me not smoking and she went and bought her a mech mod and stuff. she ended up liking it lol. funny you should mention that . she has severe asthma also. daily pills and inhalers and allthat fun stuff. she has never had any breathing problems from vaping. even when she vapes nic. high vg kinda makes her chest heavy sometimes so I just keep it at 60 vg 40 pg and shes fine, I wouldnt say she has had any benefits but no side affects either from daily vaping. so I would lean towards people with lung issues who do smoke would benifit from vaping just from not inhaling smoke.

Welcome Rum, I'm a veteran here. Been visiting for about 2 days now. It's a fun place and lots of good advice, as I see from reading backwards. Though I've been vaping for almost a year and 1/2, I've been diy-ing for about a week and 1/2. So, I'm guessing I have a bit to learn from you, as well as the others here.

Welcome to the crew, @Rumrunner64! We're a fun crowd. If you start from the beginning and feel a bit lost, we were together at another forum before, but the mods there tried locking one of us up, so we all picked up and moved here. We're a family, we're loyal, we love flavor and fun. We left a lot of great stuff there, picked up here where we left off. So welcome to book 2 of the clownhouse! Now you're family, too.

What?! A fellow tamarindo/chamoy/Lucas appreciator? :)
I can't tell you how happy I would be if I could actually mimic tamarindo candy. I don't think tamarind is a very sought after flavor though...don't think we'll be seeing FA producing it anytime soon. :(
They just don't know what they're missing.

So if you know tamarindo candy and chamoy, then you probably know what I'm going for with the fruit/chili thing right? Like Lucas powder?
Have you ever tried to make it?
I haven't finished catching up on this thread, if I remember correctly, Nude Nicotine has Tamarind flavoring. I agree, there's nothing like a sprinkle of chile & a squeeze of lime to bring out the flavor in fruit. I grew up in TX and spent many weekends and vacations in MX, just for the eats, drinks, hunting & fishing. Mmmm aqua fresca & fresh, chile sprinkled fruit just can't be beat.

I've been reading all evening. Found this thread http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-creamy-cocktail-vape-party-numerous-recipes.1852/
Looks like i will be busy in the morning. Thanks HIC for you work.
Rob

Welcome, Rob! Glad you found this gold mine of info :) Like you, I started out using TFA with so-so results, but then found the FA thread at "the other place" and was blown away by the stuff HIC and other talented folks were coming up with and all the info about the bad stuff to avoid when choosing flavorings. I'm no master mixer by any means, but I'm enjoying my mixes so much more now thanks to the people who have shared their knowledge so generously. Please let us know how your "cocktails" turn out . . . that thread alone will definitely keep you busy for awhile!

Welcome to all the new people joining in and Hi to those just reading!

Thought I'd mention something new with my mixing... I'm finding a sensitivity to citrus flavors. They seem very strong and I need to cut citrus ingediants in half in many recipes. Started with Lemon after vaping several different recipes over a week. Yesterday I was reading about a guy spicing up his cheap $6.00 bottle of rum so decided to break out my TFA Jamaican Rum (I'll save my FA for later) and came up with this

My Rum
Jamaican Rum (TFA), 4.00%
Vanillan 10% (TFA), 0.50%
Caramel (FA), 0.50%
Chocolate (FA), 0.50%
Cinnamon Ceylon (FA), 0.50%
Oak Wood (FA), 0.50%
Butterscotch (FA), 0.25%
Maple Syrup (FA), 0.25%
Clove (FA), 0.25%
Orange (FA), 0.25%

The description I went off of called for Orange Peel but I don't know of an Orange zest flavor and didn't think 0.25 would have much of an impact. While I still really like the result, that Orange is still too prominant and next go I will leave it out.

On a side note, Thanks to @wllmc for the Ry4 recipe I've been really enjoying.

Looks good...

I can taste a bit of peeling in the FA Mandarin.
Sometimes that Citrus "Twang" will fade away in time, but it varies, from 1 day up to 3 weeks.

Bergamot is on my shopping list to use with margaritas but I don't have a lot of other FA flavors I want to buy in 3mL sizes right now. I'm replacing flavors in larger sizes more than trying new at this point. I have around 120 now.

3ml of Bergamot will last you a bit, most likely. I still have some 3ml samples from early to mid last year, that I do use. My theory was, if I use it rather quickly, buy a 30ml, anything else, depends on how much it gets used. Some I still buy at 3ml, some in 5 or 10.

That's so weird . . . although some of my mixes have ended up qualifying as drain cleaner :D Sounds more like dry hits to me, which are totally nasty!

Even after seeing me buying flavors and vaping stuff he said smelled great, my husband just wanted to vape unflavored o_O To each his own, I guess, but I can see why he said "meh".

Yes, I agree that FA Orange can be stronger than expected!
If you let this one sit a day or two, it will taste different. I predict you'll taste more cinnamon, less orange and maple, and overall sweeter. My predictions aren't always right, so I hope you'll post back how it changes if you let it settle a while.

As hard as we keep you working, shoveling a bit of snow might be a nice break for you HIC.

4 rounds of shoveling in 24 hours, and probably 1 more later today. I'd rather be mixing!
But I won't complain any more. It's nothing compared to what Boston has dealt with.

I've got my hot coffee (peanut butter cookie flavor) to drink, an army of fresh batteries, and all my supplies. Ready to mix!

I'll take shoveling over -28 Deg F temps I have here at home any day. Even the dog who tends to dawdle when he goes out to do his business simply ran out, did his stuff and ran back in and plopped his butt down in front of the wood stove.

Wow - I'm way behind on this thread!
ONE more round of snow shoveling, and I'll catch up here.

I feel you HIC. Im in Maine we have had a record year for snow. I spent 2 1/2 hours shoveling and chipping at ice on the roof today. Now its time to relaxe and do some mixing. I got several of the flavor bases in from wllmc and have been chomping at the bit to get mixed up. Have done a couple of quick 0 mg 10ml bottles of the Dr F'n Pepper and it was GREAT.

When we moved to Maine a couple years ago I splurged and got a snow blower. It is worth EVERY bit of the 900 it cost me. Now the only real shoveling I have to do are the porches and roof. Being from OK it still seems funny to say "I have to shovel the roof"

I did that once, years ago, and it was just more stressful than I could handle. Careful up there, Oggy!
