Aaaargh! I can't keep up with this thread anymore! :bawl:

;)

That said, I'm really bummed that I haven't been able to buy any new flavors that I need for various recipes for a long time now. :(

My husband "officially" starts his new job today, so it will be 2-3 weeks before I can get any new flavors. I really need Vienna Cream...

I just wanted to say that we have the friendliest group of people here in the DIY section! :)

Within minutes of me posting this, someone started a convo with me and offered to send some Vienna Cream. I'm very touched. :)

Now I'll finally be able to try HIC's Lemon Meringue Pie! :D

I minimize flavorings to minimize my PG intake. If FA were alcohol-based, I could vape with more, but I've come to like less bold flavor.

Lately I've been vaping with stronger flavoring, so my tinnitus is driving me nuts now. I have to keep flavorings extra light a few days. Fortunately many of FA's allow me to still get good flavor. This Marzipan + Hazelnut is flippin' great with under 2% total flavoring!

I didn't know PG affected tinnitus. :(

Great. Several of my medications excite my already strong tinnitus (too many concerts as a teenager). :(

Maybe it's time to follow your lead and go max-VG.

No, no nevermind. I am not liking the stevia. Its got a kinda minty molasses taste. Might have to move away from the fruits until I get some sweetening flavors in.
I would skip the sweetener but give your kiwi a day or two and try it again. I don't have any experience with kiwi but sometimes it does help a bit.

I stay away from sweetners, dulls flavors over time. If you have meringue coming give that a try in small percentages
Yeah I had to re-wick after that experiment. Next up was the Tuscan Reserve 2%. Now this I like. Really this one is very good by itself. Tastes like my humidor smells minus the cedar. Has a tiny bit of the burning flavor but I'm not left wanting anymore. Probably the best tobacco I have tried but also my first FA tobacco so thats encouraging. Almost afraid to add a drop of apple just to see how it mixes.

I will have to restrain myself from posting about each flavor. LOL

No, if you have an opinion on a particular flavor, post it! I love hearing what others get from something I've had, or not had for that matter!

Well then I will wait and put up notes in a bigger group. I don't want to flood the thread with my noob opinions of things that have already been well covered.

Does VT nic reduce harshness at all? Compared to WL (trying to use it up)? I have 2x 120ml 100% VG VT nic I haven't opened yet. Just curious as some of the FA flavors I find harsh. This could be due to the fact that I have been favoring organic (PG free) for the last year and now I'm in PG territory. (as little as it may be) Thoughts?

P.S. I only mix with a max of 3mg/ml and never add additional PG to a mix.

P.S.S. Just ordered $100+ of FA. 44 additions to my 25-30 existing FA collection. This is gonna get crazy. Gonna go on a FA tangent I think. My NF bottles will be getting jealous over the next couple months.

Quick question - where can I find FA bavarian cream? I have been to Pure Vapes, Eliquidmart, Ecigexpress, Rtsv, & Bull City. Either they are all out of stock at the same time or I have to order from Italy? Sheesh.

Absolutely! One of the first word I used to describe my flavorings with VT versus WL nic (both VG, by the way) was SMOOOOTH. I'm looking forward to reading your impressions. Try the flavor you find harshest first.

The NF flavorings I used absolutely required 'steeping' to taste reasonable. If those are all you've used, I think you're going to be pretty pleased. Of course there's no reason you can't mix FA with your old favorites, too.

I think RP intended "formally". I could be wrong, but many people have/had referred to it as the Pure Vapes thread. Not past tense but "formal" name.

For sure! I've only been a VT user for a short time but everything else tastes harsh to me now.
My advice, use up the other nic you have first, otherwise you'll have a stash in your freezer forever! Lol

Tobacco didn't even occur to me, but that would be excellent for complex-nutty-sweetness.

I like the way Hazelnut tames down the almond in Marzipan, while Marzipan turns Hazelnut into a mild, sweet version. I'm still vaping it, now even weaker but with a tiny whiff of Raspberry and Custard. Almond torte with raspberry filling...ish.

That's what I was hoping. I have 20+ flavorings from each of the major flavor companies I've been using but I find myself most satisfied with NF after extensive breathing, heating and steeping. Must evap alcohol from flavoring first, then mix with base, then steep. Takes days or weeks to get a delicious product but damn they are good. I Ain't got time for that right now tho! I want some instant gratification! My NF favs will stick but I'm going on a FA tangent for a while. :)

Definitely don't toss it! I fully suspect it's still good nic, just not as good as VT. Try HICs swiss bliss with both, the difference is obvious. I'm tasting things I never tasted in some of my flavorings... TFA Key Lime, by far my favorite fruit vape, standalone, now has a hint of zest, think I need to try FAs Cold Press....

I vape at 3mg. I'm a little over half way through the 120ml WL I started in late March. If I keep using it up it will be next year before I finish it. If I open VT, then I apparently will never use WL again. Still a dilema.

Sully, figure out how many dollars-worth of WL nic you have now... Then remember how much per day you used to spend on smokes.
Geez, break out the VT - you're worth it!

Next batch of banana coconut cream pie (@wllmc) I will make with VT. I've vaped through about 60ml in the last 8 days! We have a winner!

And this is important because I never made something I really liked with my FA flavors before. I just didn't, and still don't really know how to use them.

and now FA Pandoro I find are too delicious to give up!

Curly...SHHH! Contains 2% diacetyl. If you avoid custard notes, skip this flavoring and this post.

I made a 0.5% dilution of Pandoro, one drop from the purevapes bottle in 6ml of my nic base. If I mix a recipe with 10% of this dilution, I'm using 0.05% Pandoro and vaping liquid that contains (0.10 in my recipe * 0.5 dilution * 0.02 diacetyl in straight Pandoro = ) 0.001% diacetyl. Now and then, I crave cigs. If I can be satisfied with 0.001% diacetyl instead, well, I choose what I feel is the lower risk. (Okay, sometimes I use twice that amount - and I feel guilty about it!) I really wish FA would come out with a reformulation of this one, but I don't think the flavor could be accomplished without diketones. By the way, it's really good in (real) Kahlua coffee.

PIF it off to someone, if not local have them pay shipping. I'm sure there's someone out there hard up for nic. There's nothing wrong with WL nic, that VT will just be better :p

Haha, yes sorry if it wasn't clear but I did intend for that to be aware. But, yes it's good stuff! Why are bad things so darn good!?
I don't use that small amount but 0.25% is good for me, plenty flavorful.

FA Lime Cold Pressed tastes like what a fresh cut lime smells like, if that makes sense. It has the lime juice part, but also that slightly tropical coconuty high note that the lime oil makes when you get it on your hands. It's delicious. Lime Tahiti tastes like lime flavored Popsicles. I'd say a mix of the two might make you happy.

Lime Cold Press is pretty tart and strong to me! I'm still using WL nic, though. I still have quite a lot to get through.

Thanks, on the list to order it goes. I like tart. Great description, @Cramtholomew!

Here is my review of my first 8 flavors from Flavourart (and my first flavors at all for e-juice). I don’t consider myself to have an extremely refined palette so I wouldn’t be surprised if my observation are significantly different than others. I noticed by the percentages I have seen elsewhere that I certainly am not as sensitive as most. Most of the commercial juices that I have enjoyed are much more bold than what I experienced with these flavors by themselves. Anyway here they are. Feel free to let me know you think I’m full of it. I was an art major so I don’t take offense to criticism.

I started with a VG base at 6.3mg VG nic. 3ml base with 1% representing 1 drop of flavoring from the little PV sample bottles.

Kiwi - I worked up to 4% before I thought I had something I could recognize as kiwi. Still very light tart flavor compared to commercial juice and even though I'm using all vg in my base it has almost no sweetness that I can taste. I think this one could definitely use marshmallow or cotton candy or one of these sweets though I don’t know how creamy I would want to make it.

Tuscan Reserve - 2%. Now this I like. Really this one is very good by itself. Tastes like my humidor smells minus the cedar. Has a tiny bit of the burning flavor but I'm not left wanting anymore. Probably the best tobacco I have tried but also my first FA tobacco so thats encouraging. After just a few hours it mellowed out quite a bit. Still the same flavor just smoother and milder, maybe a little less of the cigar flavor moving more toward a pouch of rolling tobacco.

Chocolate 4% - Chocolate syrup flavor with a little nuttiness maybe almond. Definitely missing a creamy element to get to the milk chocolate flavor I would prefer. Not artificial tasting but like chocolate syrup it has a tang to it almost alcohol flavor. Added apple at 4% just to see how fruits mixed with the chocolate. Could taste faint apple in the background but still strong chocolate syrup in front.

Apple - At 6% I could barely taste sweet apple flesh. Not sour apple candy flavor I have tasted in many commercial juices. At 8% still very light flavor. I could taste more apple notes when it was mixed with chocolate at 4% than I could by itself at 8%. Added some tuscan reserve 2% on top of the coils already saturated with 8% apple and more apple started to come through. For me this definitely needs mixing and I’m not really blown away by the flavor anyway. What little flavor I got was not artificial tasting. I think what I was really missing was the bitter skin flavor that I associate with a red apple.

Green Tea - At 4% I get pretty much what I would expect from a green tea. Its a very mild leafy flavor with sugar. I actually started enjoying it at 6% where it starts to come across like a dried basil flavor. I think it could fit right in with some tobacco blends and maybe fill the brighter end of the spectrum if you are trying to round out that profile. It could probably work well with very light fruits. I went ahead and added 4% apple and it helped a bit. Still not getting much from the apple but I could taste it. I could still taste both the green tea and the apple. I think for someone that likes a smooth understated flavor this could have some uses or maybe add that mystery element to a complex blend to set a mix apart from the herd. It held my attention longer than kiwi, apple or chocolate so far.

Almond - 2% I am definitely getting the almond extract taste. I was thinking I would be distinguishing between toasted vs raw almond (raw almonds are probably my favorite nut I have a bag sitting on my desk right now) but I’m not getting either of those. Not very nutty at all. Kind of buttery sweet almost a cocoa butter flavor. Reminds me of an almond cookie. Very smooth, mildly sweet, not a bitter almond at all. Bumped it up to 4% getting more of the cocoa butter flavor. Its reminding me of something. I can’t quite place it. Actually I am thinking it tastes like anbesol? You know the tooth ache stuff. Not in a really gross way. Maybe its something else. I’m not sure. I went ahead and added 2 then 4% chocolate. It does mellow the syrup flavor. Smoother and creamier in texture but not any closer to a milk chocolate taste. Buttery chocolate maybe but still two distinct flavors to me. Once the anbesol thing got in my head I couldn’t not taste it. I wouldn’t go over 2% with this one.

Maxx Blend - 2 then 3 then 4%. Definitely on the cigarette end of tobacco flavor. Mildly sweet, papery tobacco, no cigar or pipe tobacco flavors. Tiny bit of smoked tobacco maybe also a little stale tasting. I can tell they are going for an authentic cigarette but the flavor is a small percentage of what you get from a cigarette. Maybe an ultralight kind of thing. Not so realistic on the inhale but the taste left in my mouth does remind me of a cigarette. Added 1% tuscan reserve and its getting a lot closer to cigarette for me. Closer to the Camel flavor or back when I was smoking they had the Turkish blend still lacking in the burnt half of the equation. Pretty good stuff actually but the cigarette represents the worst in tobacco flavor in my opinion. I much prefer a cigar, pipe, or even oral tobacco flavor.

Shade - 2% This is a tobacco flavor I recognize from some of the tobacco house blends at local vape shops. Its sort of a generic tobacco flavor to me. In the middle of the spectrum of bright to dark, closer to bright. Pretty sweet for a tobacco and no real smoked flavor that I can tell. Connecticut shade tobacco is one of my least favorite cigar types though they are very popular. I always kinda just thought they were used as a wrapper more for the delicate look than any flavor. I always got a kind of dry dusty feeling overall from these cigars lacking the raison/molasses flavor I enjoyed. I don’t really find much in common with this juice and what I associated with the cigars. I’m kinda been there done that with this flavor so I quickly added 1% Tuscan Reserve and then 2%. At 2%/2% they did seem to be in balance and it was a pretty well rounded tobacco flavor but it wasn’t really doing the Tuscan Reserve any favors IMO. Maybe at a lower percentage it would be good to add a bit more caramel sweetness to a dark tobacco mix but I preferred the Maxx/Tuscan mix to this and probably the Tuscan reserve by itself over them all. It is pretty amazing that these three tobaccos are so different from each other.

Overall, I was most disappointed with the fruits and then maybe the chocolate but I believe these will all benefit greatly from the the sweets/creams/custard I having coming tomorrow so I haven’t given up on them. The tobaccos were the standouts with Tuscan reserve leading the pack and Shade pulling up the rear of the leaders. But it was Green Tea that surprised me the most. I found it interesting and completely unoffensive. I probably just had very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The opposite is probably true for the fruits so those opinions were biased in that way. I just kept adding to this document and never really went back and edited so sorry if there are grammatical problems.

@downInTn when you make your new mix, be sure to post it.

Nutty Layton
1.5% Layton Blend
0.5 Hazelnut
0.5 Marzipan

It's pretty good fresh, not too sweet(for me), totally vapable. I'm gonna give it a hot car steep for a day then wait for the tobacco to develop more before I really tear into it. :) My last batch of Layton 2% developed one of the best mild tobacco flavors I've had, with what I perceived as a hint of marshmallow, after a really long steep.

I absolutely love Marzipan! It's at the top of my list for dessert/sweet flavors. The other day I got to craving something really sweet and mixed this up, calling it Almonboro.
1.5% Maxx Blend
1.0% Almond
1.0% Marzipan
0.5% Black Fire

OMG, it was rich, sweet and delicious... for a short time:p After deciding it was too sweet for me I mixed it 2:1 with HIC's Light American Cig Replacement , it turned out awesome.... I got some reformulating to do.:D

Great review, RyGon - I'll have to try the green tea - it's one of the few I don't have. It looks, though, as if you picked some of the fruits I almost never use. There are some really good ones, so I'd keep trying those as you put in more orders!

Nice reviews RyGon. I prefer creamy and desserts to fruits, but FA got me to liking fruits more. I love the creams and vanillas from FA. I've not had the straight apple flavor, but the Fuji is pretty good.

I mix with higher PG, so maybe give them a bit more time to settle? I honestly don't know.

Nice job!

@downInTn re-post what you think after the hot car method, lol.
