Thanks for the warm welcome!
I am a diy beginner and have only tried making single flavor juice, but I am feeling somewhat inspired by ideas here.
My cart list gets longer everyday..... go ahead, enable ;)

Welcome NiaJane! Just fair warning . . . there seems to be some invisible force in the DIY universe that virtually guarantees you will run across a recipe you really want to try, only to find you are lacking ONE flavor. Buy 'em all :D

its so quiet here tonight. hope everyone is busy mixing masterpieces
I have been having some success making a custard more inline with what I expect a custard vape to taste like by adding some cookie to custard and sweetening with EM. Wondering if maybe apple pie would have a similar effect.

I just made a splendid key lime pie recipe. Bloody marvelous! After making this and dripping it tonight, my hubby made a comment. He wondered if e liquid vendors troll the forums looking for recipes to copy, make and sell. I thought about that and got a bit pissed off.

Getting FA custard to taste more like what I guess Caps custard might taste like. I'm using starship 1 to compare.
be sure to post when you get something close. I love a good custard recipe of any kind

As a base I like 3 parts custard, 2 EM, 1 cookie (I like 6/4/2%). Now I'm messing around with custard/apple pie/honey/EM/cardamom in different percentages obviously.

But then look at the list of clones/want list for clones. Not saying it's right just saying it goes both ways.

I am sure some have been mixed and claimed as originals. If some vaper claims it as their own to all their friends - eh, big deal. Some vape shop or seller somewhere could produce your masterpiece, claim it as their own. (When unearned profit is involved, I get pissed.) But even so, maybe a smoker somewhere will fall in love with your masterpiece, and switch to vaping instead of smoking. :) I would like to think something I've written has helped someone, somewhere, quit smoking; that'd make my day.

No reputable seller would steal DIY recipes. If any big seller were to release a flavor that any of us recognized as coming from here... well, we're a vocal bunch. We could very publicly reveal them for the thieves they are - and publicize the original recipe for DIY'ers. Oh, and then we could make and publicize clones for all their best-sellers. hehehehe...

Based on nearly all vendor juice I've tried, have to agree 100%.

Yeah - what is WITH that?! I've been occasionally trying some hugely-popular juices from some big names, and I've been really surprised I don't usually like them. Sure is a lot of coil-killing, over-sweetened, popular juice out there!

Maybe the pepsi challenge effect? Even those that prefer Coke standalone tend to choose Pepsi side by side because it is sweeter.

That doesn't sound very positive at first glance, lol!

I've been messing with FA Apple versus FA Fuji and various combinations in cider recipes. FA Apple for sweet juice, FA Fuji for crisp, fresh apples has turned out to be a good rule-of-thumb for me. Lots of my recipes benefit from a combination.

Ever since I mixed wllmc's "It's dark in Fuji" I have to resist the urge to add Dark Vapure whenever I have some Fuji. :)

I've been lurking here for awhile now. I am one of those someones. HIC, your work has been extremely helpful to me and my journey to quit smoking. I got into DIY juices partially for the cost savings ;) and partially for the hobby. I figure if I'm more invested then I'll have less desire to go back to smoking. Your leg work with flavors has definitely been helpful and your willingness to share is much appreciated.

I prefer the real thing!
I grew up a Pepsi fan but I prefer Coke now, though I don't drink much "pop" anymore. A cold Pepsi from one of those glass bottles you had to return is a treasured memory.

BTW, just found my first original recipe that I love as much as HICs limoncello torrone parfait. 2.5 parts custard, 1.5 EM, 1 cookie, 1 marzipan, 1 cardamom. I like it at 5/3/2/2/2%= 14% A little high even for me but it combines my two favorite FA flavors marzipan and cardamom and blends so well. The bitter almond and cardamom balance out the sweet creamy custard. Does need to steep and you could halve the cardamom if you don't want it to stand out like I do.

Noob DIY high! :D

Sounds good - I might give that one a go today. But do you use the EM for sweetening? If so, I might skip that part!

I use it for sweetening but I also like the effect it has on flavors. Seems to smooth things out with some flavors. If you cut out the EM and you like the percentages that HIC uses you could get under 6% flavoring.

I have some but I've never used it, mainly because I've never needed extra sweetening. But I might make it both ways for comparison!

We could very publicly reveal them for the thieves they are - and publicize the original recipe for DIY'ers. Oh, and then we could make and publicize clones for all their best-sellers. hehehehe...

This topic interests me because it becomes very complex. Most DIY recipes posted are based around real world foods/drinks. Some of the top juice vendors have signature flavors that are a blend of items that make a good vape, but are not found in the drink/food world. With that said, there are so many different variations of each recipe (Apple Pie, Key Lime Pie, Chocolates, etc) available online, anyone that sells these mixtures could be seen as copycats, even if they did not read a recipe online. We all use the same flavor companies.

No one can "Steal" a recipe that has been willingly posted on the internet for everyone to see and use. You don't see Cosmic Fog, Space Jam, etc posting their signature blends on the internet, same as you do not see the recipe for Coke, Pepsi, etc (of which the Coke recipe is estimated to be valued easily in the Billions). You don't think Coca-Cola would be made by many different companies if the recipe went public? Alter that recipe by such a small amount that it does not make a difference, and that recipe is no longer officially Coke.

Cloning popular items/recipes happens with every desirable product in the world. Look at our own hobby here. Why have an issue with juice clones while vaping with a Kayfun clone? I know many vapors, most of them have no desire to make their own juice. The DIY crowd makes a very small % of the actual vape world. Posting clone recipes does not impact it all that much anyway as people just don't want to mess with making it themselves to begin with.

Futhermore, trying to shame a business by saying they are using a recipe you created can be very troublesome. If that company altered the recipe in any way, they are in fact not using that recipe, and you may acquire some legal troubles for the false claims.

Having someone use an internet found recipe helps the economy in the area, puts food on someone's table, helps someone stop smoking and feeding BT companies, increases exposure to the vaping world, helps us DIY people enjoy the hobby more, improves some B&M's horrible flavors, and probably helps line some already wealthy folks pockets even further. If someone has an issue with any of these, wishes to be credited, or profit from their personal recipes, then I suggest they bottle them for sale, and never publicly post a recipe.

I am not claiming I advocate any such activities, just trying to put things into perspective here. The minute a recipe is willingly posted, that person gives up any, and all rights to the ownership of that recipe.

I just spent nearly an hour searching for my FA Mango, which I knew I had, 'cos my spreadsheet said so, 4ml. Seems it was wrong :(

FA Mango arrved today, and, well... I think I prefer the Inawera! The FA seems a bit thin, delicate, and subtle in comparison. It's still good, but when I thnk of Mango I think of something that tastes a bit 'thicker'.

Anyone else tried both?

I have a full bottle of INW so I didn't order the FA. I got it a while back when I first started out. I like it too Hermit.

You wouldn't be doubling up if you had both, I can say that for sure! I'll try a mix of the two later, probably 2 parts Inawera to 1 part FA, That could work well, I think.

Just put in a flavor order, who wants to post a recipe with something I don't have/didn't order? Or would you rather wait until it gets here lol

I'll try! Did you see my Pink Bubble Gum recipe yet? or maybe a Chocolate Toscano cigar? If either of those interest you, but you already have the ingredients, I'll post a cider recipe with spices you don't have. lol!

Off-topic, but I made an order for some Atmos Lab flavours today:

Banana, Biskoto, Blueberry, Chestnut, Cinnamon Cookies, Honey Moon, Kaimaki, Mastic, Pistachio, Soursop (guanabana), Vodka and Waffle.

I did have Tamarin on the list, but they were out of stock :(

A mix of familiar ones for comparison, and the more unique AL ones - should be interesting :)

Was too late for me. I have orders from Ecigxpress, Bull City, AND wizard labs. I felt like I finally won!, the feeling was great!
Hit F5 on the recipe section. OMFG! Wintergreen? Wintergreen? no one used wintergreen. Now I feel like I've been benched.

Mastic..Vodka.. ...Tamarin

When you start ordering flavors like those, it's a sign you had enough flavors some time ago.
Kaimaki is the one I keep considering. Sure I have plenty, but that one sure sounds gooood. Don't forget to tell us all about them!
Wintergreen - really, you have none? I like any wintergreen standalone and don't use it in many recipes, but you can't do many gum flavors without it. I was really surprised, never realized that's the "gum" bit of most gums.

Yup you did it with both! Wintergreen and Tuscan Reserve. Although tobaccos don't appeal to me much anymore, when I first started I was all about it now I have a 3 month old bottle of my favorite RY4 left untouched. I definitely don't have many "spice" flavors, so that would easily do it. I am almost caught up on every FA flavor I'm interested in that Bull City sells. Couple left I wouldn't mind trying but not in any rush to get.

I will report back, of course! Vodka appeals as an alchoholic 'element'. Mastic and Tamarin intrigued me, dunno why, I'm almost expecting to dislike Mastic, lol.

Oh, and now I have to get Wintergreen as well, to compare Mastic to. What an enabler!
