[FREE FROM OUR FRIENDS] Toxic Nation: The Movie
"I'm from the Government and here to help." According to President Ronald Reagan, those are the nine most terrifying words in the English language. And perhaps it is true.
The instructions we were told to trust have continued to make us sicker. It would seem like America's health crisis wasn't accidental. Seemingly, all at once, untested chemicals, government-approved toxins, and pharma-first policies hit the mainstream.
Is it a coincidence that autoimmune issues, obesity, infertility, and cancer have all risen at the same time? Do the agencies have our well-being or profit in mind?

Stop aphid damage before it starts

Hi, Jimi,

Sooner or later, every gardener runs into aphids. They're one of the most common garden pests — and some (like cabbage aphids) can turn into a full-blown infestation practically overnight! 😮

And with so many colors — green, yellow, pink, brown, black, gray, white, even clear — it’s like they’re auditioning for a Skittles commercial. 🍬

That’s why we created this complimentary Aphid Management eGuide to help you prevent aphid problems and keep your plants thriving.

Instant Master Gardener 2: How Much Land Do You Need To Grow All Your Own Food

Watch these short videos I am uploading and you’ll gain all kinds of smarts. Even if you aren’t growing food right now, you’ll be ready when the time comes.
This is a short video exploring how much space you need to grow your own food. I explore the work of John Jeavons (a master!) who developed a completely plant based methodology for growing food. I think he developed it this way as in many parts of the world where it is implemented, people cannot afford to buy rabbits or chickens. Part of the reason he has such a large space is that he is growing all the fertility the food plants need.
Note that I use and highly recommend John’s bio-intensive method, but in raised beds as you see in the free webinar https://backyardfoodproduction.com
LOL, I’ve been doing this a long time! You can see I was a lot younger in this short video.

[ARTICLE] How to Outsmart the Squash Vine Borer
The dreaded squash borer doesn't have to squash your summer cucurbits! Overcome this fearsome foe with one of these tested techniques.
Click here to read the full article.

Plant catnip all around the vines, close to the vines, and mulch everything well. It keeps squash borers away, and catnip flowers attract honey bees.

If you have cats, they won't bother catnip in the ground, but you can pick some of it, dry it, and make little cloth mouse toys for them. They love that.

Tell my cats that... They love fresh catnip and I can't start it in the house.

Do they attack it once it's in the ground and well mulched?

If they're attacking your indoor starts, maybe this is one plant you have to get at the local nursery, get it right in the ground, get the mulch all around it. Mine didn't even notice it when I did that.

I don't have cats now, just to avoid confusion, but when I created the huge garden at my auntie's house when I was looking after her, she had two and I had one.

I had catnip growin behind the house and the neighborhood cats loved it, I grew it to make tea outta but cats didn't leave it alone.

Okay, so I had to look this up. It turns out that not all cats are susceptible to the lure of catnip. About 30 percent are not (see article linked below).

BUT, my next question would be whether or not you had your catnip very well mulched. I think it makes a difference. The mulch might get between the catnip and the cat's smeller. I really don't know, but my organic gardening book emphasized mulching the catnip really well, and applying more mulch if it wore down or blew away.

Anyway:

Are you ready to take your irrigation to the next level?
Drip tape is flat (pun intended) out the best way to water your garden. 15 years ago my mentor and friend Scott Murray introduced me to this process and it changed my gardens and orchards forever.
So what exactly is it?
Drip tape irrigation is a low-pressure, highly effective system that delivers water right where we want it through thin, lay flat tubing with pre-spaced emitters.
It minimizes water waste by reducing evaporation and runoff, making it ideal for row crops, raised beds and believe it or not orchards (thank's Janis).
This system is especially useful for conserving water while promoting healthy root growth.
And unlike other drip irrigation systems it evenly distributes water pressure in the entire system. So no more thirsty plants at the end of our drip lines.
It is super simple to install, think tinker toys, long lasting system that is super easy to use. That’s a win in my book!
Each year we offer a Drip Tape Class live in March and record it, so jump in, watch and send me any questions that you have. Then if you are inspired you can get your Drip Tape Supplies from us.
