Clarification regarding Toucan Cereal !

If you bought this recipe, give your Meringue flavoring bottle a sniff. If you do NOT smell burnt caramel, sulfur, or spoiled eggs, all is well. Mix, enjoy, and vape on!

If your Meringue smells horrible, don't use it! Watch for new info on the flavoring here: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/my-notes-on-flavourart-meringue.2696/ . (It would be helpful if you let me know when and where you bought it - please PM me; I need all data I can gather.)

If you aren't really sure whether your Meringue is ok, or it's caramel-y but smells tasty to you - please DO mix the recipe! I'm hearing from people with new bottles of Meringue flavoring who DO like it in Toucan Cereal. Two noticed a difference from earlier bottles and still like it. (But if yours smells really horrible, please don't waste supplies using it - it won't improve.)

I grew up getting Haribo long before you saw them in Walmart. I miss the cola gummies and the double cherries were the best.

Want a peek into what's coming next? Here are two of my current projects that are producing encouraging results:

shortbread and creme sandwich cookies (think Oreo, Dare, Hydrox, Vienna Fingers): The shortbread cookie part of this is so impressive, I’ve been combining it with all of Oreo’s “limited edition” filling flavors. So far, lemon-creme sandwich cookie is a clear winner, so watch for that one very soon. I didn’t like real watermelon Oreos, but of course I had to try a vape version. Uhmmm, we’ll forget about that one. Would you believe Caramel Apple Oreos were a thing? Speaking of caramel...

dulce de leche: This might be the sweetest all-FA recipe I’ve ever vaped - and so buttery-rich. I’m excited by the prospect of an all-FA replacement for those tasty (but loaded with diacetyl/subs) flavors by TFA and FW. I don’t have a straight dulce de leche to offer yet, but this “dulce effect” can be found now in my Hazelnut Pralines n Cream recipe - available at my store.

Those two projects are leading to numerous ideas and offshoots. With luck, a few will develop into tasty new recipes. With certainty, a few others will give me some funny stories to tell...
The recipes look awesome...and i've purchased 14 so far. Can you list your VG/PG ratio on your recipes?

I personally use max-VG, mostly because I can't vape much PG, but I also I like the sweetness it adds.

You should use whatever PG/VG ratio you prefer!

Vaping kiddie flavors puts me in a goofy mood. :D
Yeah I vaped LARS for a week. Then made my only own recipe and it gave me a cold. Back to Samoa's and Banana Pudding mixed with mine, and a triple strawberry triple cream menthol.
I guess my recipe was OK for a newly quit smoker but either too much Espresso or too much Cuban peeled off my throat and I've had a sinus cold for a week.

Oh I remember. PG is a flavor carrier so I wanted flavor?

Maybe, although I'm not sure I entirely buy into that! I mix 50/50, because I can't tolerate high VG. But I actually prefer the subtle sweetness of higher VG :)

I can't tell what I can tolerate. I don't feel great but I am on painkillers and I don't stink of smoke. A friend of mine said he had tightness in his chest and then never made the switch. Another girl I helped two weeks ago said the same. I then made her a 75% pg and she said it was worse so made her a 75vg and she said it was better. I guess I should experiment now that its cardio season again. I assume I'm not allergic to anything if I've been doing it 6 months strong.

I make all my mixes in max VG. If I use a 50/50 juice for a day then I end up with a sore throat.

New today at HIC's Mixes: Pixie Tarts

"In 1963 the original flavors of Pixy Stix powder were compressed into SweeTARTS. The formula and flavors of SweeTARTS remained the same until 2001. You can no longer buy SweeTARTS or Pixy Stix in the original formula, but now you can vape it! This is a treat for those of us "of a certain age" - and for everyone who knows SweeTARTS shouldn't taste like Smarties. This recipe requires FlavourArt flavorings plus The Flavor Apprentice Sweet Tart. Plastic tanks are not recommended."

I was excited when I first tried TFA's Sweet Tart flavor. They really got that powdery effect down, don't you think? But the underlying flavor is just wrong! It's a little bit Smarties, a little bit newfangled (corrupted!) SweeTARTS. Well, I wanted original SweeTARTS - so I fixed it. :)

Hi,
I just purchased some more of your recipes and thought I bought this one, but I ordered Holy Frappe twice by mistake...only needed one. Any way to get this one in exchange for the extra Holy Frappe I bought?

What you are doing here is amazing for what you are charging. The kind of research you do is priceless for the vaping community. THANKS!

Any plans on putting together a Complexe Spiced Rum recipe like the work you have done on the Black Barrel Mac?

Oh, you know I love my Jamaican Rum and all the spices. They appear together in lots of my recipes. Last time I had out Rum, I was thinking of the hot-buttered type, then I tobacco-spiced it, and that made Palermo. I haven't had it out since, but it never gathers dust for long.

But here's an idea for you to try, since you like Black Barrel Whiskey Mac. Jameson whiskey is aged in bourbon barrels, but what if my Black Barrel recipe used this whiskey flavor instead: http://scotchnoob.com/2014/12/01/teeling-small-batch-irish-whiskey/ - aged in rum casks and apparently rummy flavor (I've never tasted it, just going by the description). You'd just leave out Brandy and use Jamaican Rum instead. You could play with balance of the whiskey versus rum flavor to make it similar to the whiskey in that link, or more like a whiskey-spiked rum. Rum is sweeter than FA Brandy (especially fresh), compatible with the other flavors, worth a shot to try it.

Suddenly a rummy Bavarian torte sounds really good.

Ahh yes I forgot I ruined my Palermo and never remade it. Still love Dark N Stormy but not really a CapNCoke.
I'll have to recheck the list of rums. I never made the HICs liquer cabinet.

HIC's mixes

What is HIC's mixes?
This is my stash of unpublished, new DIY recipes -- ones NOT available anywhere else. They are for personal, non-commercial use only.

What do I get when I buy a HIC's mixes recipe?
You receive instant access to the recipe and my accompanying notes -- along with free updates if you don't object. My notes may include recipe variations, flavor substitutions, explanation of new flavor tricks, interesting background info, mixing tips, etc. Occasionally, free updates might include an entirely new recipe, but they're usually added notes or new suggested variations.

What flavors do I need?
HIC's Mixes recipes avoid diacetyl and related diketones, mainly by using FlavourArt e-cig flavorings. When you click on a recipe, the description tells you if any other brands are needed.

Why buy HIC's unpublished recipes?
Here are some reasons DIYers have given me:
You want better-than-vendor vapes -- with no diacetyl or substitutes.
You're new to DIY or FlavourArt and want tasty results quickly.
You need to save time/money/effort -- but you want gourmet vapes.
You're an experienced DIYer and want to learn new FlavourArt mixing tricks.
You've enjoyed my public recipes, and you want more.

Drop by often and see what I have to offer. New recipes are added frequently!
Hi HIC...what are your thoughts on Natures Flavors without diacetyl. I'm looking to make a custard and/or vanilla base without diacetyl and these seem to be the only ones I can find. Haven't tried any of them yet.

I been using the vanilla cream for a while. First with diacetyl. Then without. While there is a noticeable difference - the vanilla cream w/o is very good imo.

I've tried only a couple of their newer formulations, and only in small amounts as accent flavors in recipes. They seem interchangeable to me, flavorwise, when used like that. Since NF refuses to disclose what they use to replace diacetyl, I don't know what - if any - advantage there is to their newer formulations.

Thanks for the heads up...I just purchased some from e-liquidmart. Haven't received it yet so hopefully it will be the new batch.

What is triacetin? Is it bad or what are the baddest of DAPA?

Triacetin is a flavor carrier (i.e. solvent) used in some flavorings. I haven't read of any inhalation hazard, but it's a plasticizer that can fog or crack some plastic tanks. I've heard some of the newer plastic formulations are safe with it, though.

Diacetyl, acetyl propionyl, acetoin, and butyric acid are all "lung irritants" and all GRAS (generally recognized as safe) for ingestion.

So you think butyric is being subbed for diacetyl in NFs?

I honestly have no idea! Short of having it independently tested, there's just no way to know. TFA was already using butryic acid when NF began reformulating and stated that 'other companies' were already using it. Such secrecy, huh?

I don't get notifications on this thread any more, either - and I started it! There are annoying little bugs here since Easter or so.
Well, that ain't right! I checked out the threads I'm following and this is one. Odd. On a happy note, SuperWllmc and SuperMamaJ just flew flavors to my door so tm. I get to mix key lime ice cream and Toucan. Taking them on a journey for a long weekend tm. Thank you SuperHIC! I love my Super heroes!

Do you have a oatmeal cookie, oatmeal cookie with rasin???

I do have an oatmeal-raisin cookie but never posted or listed it. It's not a short one, uses small percents, and it takes a good flavor collection. It takes several FA flavors to get the impression of raisins and baked oats (the baked oats bit is also in my Apple Crisp Granola recipe). It tastes like old-fashioned cookies though, like 1940s when everyone used dark brown sugar. Should I write up my notes and list it, or are you looking for Keebler-type, light cookies?

Just made my first of HIC's mixes "Quickberry Pink" and I can't put it down. Just as described and just as I remember. I like this so much I am tempted to kick up the overall flavor a notch. I may try increasing each ingredient by 25%.

I became a fan of HIC before I purchased a single recipe. The amount of knowledge he shares is priceless. I've purchased most of his current ones and just reading his notes on what the flavors do to each other is stuff I may never have figured out on my own. I can't wait to start using what I learn from him to start creating some of my own creations.

Thanks again HIC for being such a great asset to the Vaping community.
