At first, the headline sounds almost impossible. How can someone be biologically older than they are chronologically?
Well, we've reached a point where science can actually measure that.
For years, age simply meant counting birthdays. Today, researchers can look at markers in your blood and other measures of your health to estimate your biological age—how healthy your cells actually are.
The new study found that adults born in the 1990s had a much larger gap between their biological age and their actual age than Generation X did at the same point in life. Researchers also found that accelerated biological aging was associated with a greater risk of cancers such as colorectal, lung and uterine cancer. We've talked before about the rise in colorectal cancer among younger adults, and this may be one piece of that puzzle.
Now here's the part I want you to remember.
Biology is not your destiny.
That was my biggest takeaway.
What these markers are really telling us is that our cells respond to the lives we live. Chronic inflammation, poor diet, obesity, lack of sleep, environmental exposures, stress—they all leave fingerprints on the body.
That sounds discouraging until you realize something important.
Those are also many of the things we can change.
Eat better. Sleep better. Know your blood pressure. Know your cholesterol. Exercise. Limit alcohol.
mail
The second story may represent one of the most exciting developments in cancer screening in years.
Researchers are studying a blood test called Galleri that looks for tiny fragments of methylated DNA released into the bloodstream by cancer cells. Rather than diagnosing cancer outright, the test detects signals that may point physicians toward where a cancer is developing.
Imagine that.
One blood draw with the potential to screen for as many as 50 different cancers.
If this technology continues to perform well and ultimately receives broader approval, it's hard to overstate how important that could be. Early research has already shown fewer late-stage cancer diagnoses among people using the test, and Medicare is expected to begin covering it in 2028.
But there is an important caveat.
This is not replacing mammograms.
It's not replacing colonoscopies.
It's not replacing the screening tools we already know save lives.
Instead, it's another layer of information. If the test detects signals commonly associated with liver cancer, your physician knows where to look next. If it points toward breast cancer, additional imaging can be ordered.
That's what makes this so exciting.
It's another tool that helps us find disease earlier, when treatment is often most successful.
mail
Finally, let's talk about melatonin.
Parents ask about it all the time.
The truth is, melatonin absolutely can help some children. Kids with autism, ADHD and certain sleep disorders may genuinely benefit from it when it's used appropriately and under medical guidance.
But I also want parents to understand something.
Melatonin is a dietary supplement—not a prescription medication.
That means quality control isn't the same.
One analysis found that the amount of melatonin inside products varied enormously, sometimes containing 83% less than the label stated and, in other cases, nearly 500% more. That's a remarkable difference, especially when we're talking about children.
Every time I walk through a pharmacy, I see shelves full of melatonin products in every flavor imaginable. Sometimes it feels like there are more varieties than Kool-Aid.
The important thing isn't finding the newest gummy.
It's finding the right dose—if your pediatrician believes your child needs it at all.
We're usually talking about very small amounts, around one-half to one milligram per day. More is not necessarily better, and too much melatonin can cause grogginess, vivid dreams and even bedwetting in some children.
Nothing is completely innocent.
That's why my advice remains simple: talk to your pediatrician before starting it.
The common thread running through all three of these stories is that medicine continues to evolve.
We're learning more about how we age. We're developing smarter ways to detect cancer. And we're reminding ourselves that even common over-the-counter supplements deserve thoughtful conversations.
Science keeps moving forward.
Our job is to keep learning with it.

There are a handful of go-to herbal remedies that my wife Michelle and I keep around the house at all times. Plants are super powerful and our ancestors knew it -- thankfully they've handed many of them down to us.

And here’s something that most folks don't realize: certain everyday ingredients – many of them sitting in your kitchen right now – become dramatically more powerful when you pair them together.

Two humble ingredients, combined the right way, can outperform what you'd expect from either one alone.

My friend Brian Vaszily just put together a free guide on this exact topic, called The 20 Most Powerful 2-Ingredient Natural Remedies.

Inside, you'll find simple kitchen combinations like:

→ A Parsley + Lemon recipe to cleanse your liver & kidneys

→ Blueberry & Walnut "Super Brain Longevity" snack

→ Garlic + Lemon for healthy circulation & cholesterol

→ Garlic + Honey immunity booster

It also contains remedies to stop bloating, fight colds and flu, ease nausea, boost low energy, detox heavy metals, and calm inflammation – all using two simple ingredients you likely already have on hand or can grab at any grocery store.

Click here to get this free remedy guide now

You'll also get free access to Brian's upcoming World's BEST Longevity Summit (Literally!) – where 21 renowned doctors and researchers share the most effective, science-backed steps for living long and well.

I highly recommend digging into both!

Stay curious,

🐿️ CREATURE FEATURE 🐿️

A legendary and rare Okapi.

🦒Okapi

The okapi is one of the strangest-looking animals in the Congo. It looks like a few creatures blended into one: zebra-striped legs, a horse-shaped body, and the face of a giraffe. In fact, okapis are the only living relatives of the giraffe. Western scientists didn't even know they existed until 1901, though the Mbuti people of the forest had lived alongside them for generations.
Okapis feed with a long, dark tongue that reaches about a foot and strips leaves right off the branch. It's long enough that they can use it to clean their own eyes and ears. They're endangered now, with only a few thousand thought to remain as logging and hunting shrink their forest home. For an animal that stayed hidden this long, they could use a little looking after.

The Nutrient You Can't Eat

We spend some much time talking about dialing in the perfect plate and nutritional habits. Omega-3s, polyphenols, fermented everything, the right olive oil poured at the right temperature. Meanwhile the science keeps circling back to something most of us leave off the list: the people we eat with.

Just how much does connection matter?

A 2010 analysis that pooled 148 studies and more than 300k people found that those with strong social ties were about 50% less likely to die early than those without them. Researchers at Stanford's compassion lab note that a lack of social connection does more damage to your health than obesity, smoking, or high blood pressure. It works alongside diet, and can outweigh it. That's a strange thing to consider with when you've just spent forty dollars on a bag of superfoods and eaten them by yourself.

What loneliness does inside the body

Can your organs age at different speeds?
Hey there,

Most of us think about aging as a single process. You turn 40, 50, or 60, and your whole body ages together, like a clock steadily ticking forward.

But what if that's not how aging really works?

What if your heart is biologically 70 years old while your liver is behaving like it's 50? What if your brain is aging faster than the rest of your body? And what if a simple blood test could spot these differences years before disease appears?

According to groundbreaking recent research, that may be exactly what's happening. The study suggests that our organs don't age in lockstep. Instead, each one seems to follow its own timeline. Some stay youthful. Others race ahead. And those faster-aging organs may offer an early warning sign of future health problems.

Let’s take a look at the study and what the science has to say.

Your Biological Age Isn't Just One Number

We all have a chronological age, and that’s the number of birthdays we've celebrated.

But scientists are increasingly interested in biological age, which reflects how well different parts of the body are actually functioning.

Think of two 60-year-olds. One runs marathons, sleeps well, and has excellent cardiovascular health. The other struggles with high blood pressure, poor fitness, and chronic inflammation. Both are 60 on paper. Biologically, they may be very different. The previously mentioned Stanford researchers took this idea a step further. Instead of looking at the body's overall biological age, they examined the age of individual organs.

But How Do You Measure the Age of an Organ?

The answer lies in proteins.

Every organ releases distinctive proteins into the bloodstream. By measuring thousands of proteins in blood samples, researchers can identify biological signatures associated with specific organs such as the heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, liver, immune system, and blood vessels. The research team from Stanford analyzed blood samples from more than 5,600 adults. Using machine-learning techniques, they created models that estimated the biological age of 11 major organs and organ systems.

The results were striking. Many people had one organ that appeared significantly older or, in some cases, younger than the rest of their body. In other words, aging isn't necessarily a whole-body process. It can be highly uneven.

One in Five Older Adults Had a Rapidly Aging Organ

In the Stanford study, among adults aged 50 and older, nearly 20% had at least one organ that was aging substantially faster than average for their age group. Even more concerning, researchers found that people with accelerated aging in a particular organ were much more likely to develop diseases affecting that organ in the future. For example:
  • Faster heart aging was linked to a dramatically higher risk of heart failure
  • Accelerated brain aging was associated with cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease
  • Aging in other organs was connected to increased risks of diseases affecting those systems
This suggests that biological aging may begin long before symptoms appear. Your organs could be quietly signaling trouble years, or even decades, in advance.

The Organs May Be Telling Different Stories

One of the most fascinating findings is that two people of the same age can have very different aging patterns. Imagine three 65-year-olds:
  • One has a youthful brain but an older cardiovascular system
  • One has a relatively young heart but an aging immune system
  • One has an older liver but otherwise youthful organs
Chronological age alone wouldn't capture these differences. This helps explain why some people develop dementia but never have heart disease, while others experience the opposite. Different organs may have different vulnerabilities and different aging trajectories.

Why Do Some Organs Age Faster?

Scientists don't yet have all the answers.

Genetics almost certainly plays a role. So do environmental exposures, chronic stress, sleep quality, nutrition, physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and underlying health conditions. Different organs also face different workloads.

Your heart beats roughly 100,000 times a day. Your liver constantly processes toxins and nutrients. Your immune system fights infections around the clock. Over decades, those demands may leave unique biological fingerprints. Researchers are now working to understand exactly what drives accelerated aging in specific organs, and, more importantly, whether those processes can be slowed or reversed.

Could This Lead to Personalized Aging Medicine?

Potentially, yes.

The most exciting aspect of this research isn't simply identifying aging organs. It's the possibility of intervening early. Imagine visiting your doctor and learning that your cardiovascular system is aging faster than expected. That information could encourage targeted action:
  • Improving fitness
  • Managing blood pressure
  • Optimizing cholesterol levels
  • Improving sleep
  • Reducing smoking or alcohol use
  • Addressing metabolic health issues
Instead of waiting for disease to develop, healthcare could become more proactive and personalized. That said, experts caution that these tests are still largely research tools. While the science is promising, more studies are needed before organ-age testing becomes a routine part of medical care.

What Does This Mean for You Today?

The big takeaway is surprisingly encouraging.

Aging isn't one unstoppable process affecting every part of your body equally. Different organs respond differently to life's challenges. That means there's room for improvement. While we can't yet order a standard test to measure the age of every organ, we already know many of the habits associated with healthier aging:
  • Exercise regularly, combining aerobic activity and strength training
  • Prioritize sleep
  • Eat a nutrient-rich diet centered on whole foods
  • Avoid smoking
  • Limit excessive alcohol intake
  • Manage stress
  • Stay mentally and socially engaged
These habits support multiple organs simultaneously and may help keep biological aging closer to chronological aging.

The emerging science of organ aging reminds us that aging is far more dynamic than we once believed. Your body isn't a single clock ticking toward old age. It's a collection of interconnected systems, each with its own story.

The good news?

That story isn't fully written. The choices you make today may influence how your organs age tomorrow, and perhaps help keep more of them younger for longer.
Yours in good health,

Sitting here sipping my structured water with some various minerals thrown in there, pretty much the same thing I always drink…

I was just thinking I need to be drinking something refreshing with some cucumber or lime or something in it on a hot day like this…

and then I came across this 👉 20 Most Powerful Liver-Cleansing Drinks to Detoxify Your Body guide, my friend Brian Vaszily put together for his longevity event!

And yes, they all look great for detox and other healing / anti-cancer compounds as well…

but more importantly for right now, they all look:

1. Super refreshing

2. Super easy & quick to make!

In today’s world, I guess I could just hop on an AI platform and ask it to give me a bunch of refreshing detox drink options or something…

but I still enjoy scrolling through guides like this and seeing what jumps out at me, what I used to love but forgot about for some reason, etc.

Anyway, if you’d like to be inspired to make the cayenne lemon metabolism drink or the parsley & lemon detox juice, or any of the 20 he’s got in there, 👉 get the guide!

Should mention Brian puts on GREAT events as well. :)

*******

You know, speaking of longevity, the theory that before The Flood, there was some sort of water canopy above the atmosphere, resulting in a mild hyperbaric environment

explaining the crazy long lifespans in The Bible and other ancient texts (not to mention GIANT insects, plants, animals, etc.) has always intrigued me!

I doubt we’ll be getting into much of that in the long-awaited hyperbaric webinar this week, but it’s fun to think about

and I DEFINITELY think in general, well actually I know, that we’re missing things today that we used to have an abundance of, like various electrons, ions, not to mention minerals, so the oxygen thing is an interesting log to throw on that fire. :)

BUT, we WILL be talking about all the benefits of hyperbaric, various conditions it’s been shown to help, what it’s synergistic with, the mountain of oncology-specific research that’s come out lately, and so much more!!

You can 👉 sign up to attend + ask questions live / catch the replay / get the webinar only deal here!!

Oh, and you know you’ve got a lot of regular webinar attendees when you get a bunch of emails asking if the date on the registration is wrong…

we usually hold webinars on Thursdays, sometimes Wednesdays, but yes, this one is indeed on Friday! :)
