Hi Jimi,
If you love berries as much as I do, you'll be super excited to learn that in addition to being delicious, they're FULL of cancer-fighting properties!
And even better?
You're not limited to just one type of berry... there are cancer-fighting properties in all kinds!
But today, I want to let you in on the incredible benefits of a lesser used berry that you just might find on your table this Thanksgiving...
So, let's talk about:
Cranberries
mail
Cranberries
The phytochemicals in cranberries shield your DNA from damage caused by free radicals and oxidative stress. It's actually one of the few known mechanisms in which plant-based antioxidants limit cancer progression. It's of utmost importance that we start including deeply-colored fruits such as cranberries into our diet as we age.
Cranberry's characteristic deep red hue indicates that it's rich in phytochemicals, and therefore a good source of food that can stave off DNA damage. Moreover, cranberries contain ursolic acid, quercetin and epicatechins, effective agents in fighting against cancer.
The good news is that you get multi-faceted protection against cancer growth factors and cell physiology with cranberries and other plant foods. The many helpful chemicals in the fruit regulate enzymes that are facilitators of cancer cell growth, including ornithine decarboxylase, quinone reductase and matrix metalloproteinase.
The phytochemicals in cranberries encourage faster cell cycling and apoptosis (cell death) in cancer lines. Plus, normal cell functions are supported, which means less cancer cell growth.
Studies have found that plant chemicals in cranberries can be 'activated' against common cancers like colon cancer and lung cancer, as well as hormonal types like prostate cancer and breast cancer. Pterostilbene and resveratrol protect one's DNA from damage and makes healthy cells live longer.
Extracts of cranberry juice can amplify the effects of platinum-sourced cancer drugs up to 6 times against ovarian cancer. Though test tube findings still have a long way to go before being applied to people, Nicholi Vorsa and Ajay Singh, doctors at the Rutgers University are optimistic.
Singh and Vorsa state that new and exciting 'possibilities' have opened in regards to platinum-based therapy and intervention. Currently, platinum-based drugs are the mainstay of ovarian cancer treatment, but the patient develops a resistance over time. What's more, there's a limit to the chemotherapy dosage before the treatment becomes more harmful than beneficial to the patient.
Researchers have found that isolated compounds in cranberries could effectively eliminate prostate, brain and ovarian cells. The anti-cancer characteristic was believed to have come from a group of substances called PACs, or proanthocyanidins.
The duo reported that the chemical entities are ones that can't be found in any other fruit. The compounds' mechanism of action hasn't been discovered yet, although they tested it against ovarian cancer cells that had developed a resistance against platinum therapy.
The extract of cranberry, which was taken from a commercial source of juice with 27% concentration, increased the potency of platinum-sourced radiation therapy by up to 6 times versus resistant ovarian cancer cells.
=======

So, head to the store and grab a bag of organic cranberries to whip into a tasty side dish for your Thanksgiving dinner and enjoy all the amazing benefits they have to offer.
I hope this reaches you well!

Jimi,

We have been telling you for months that this COVID plandemic is going to push us down the slippery slope of forced vaccines, and now it’s happening. Just last week, we saw the New York State Bar Association pass a resolution calling upon the state government to require mandatory COVID vaccinations and eliminate religious, philosophical, or personal exemptions.

Just yesterday, Australian airline Qantas announced that it will require travelers on international flights to be jabbed with a coronavirus vaccine once a vaccine is ready. In other words ... No jab. No service.

This announcement comes less than a week after United Airlines began a four-week trial on flights from New York/Newark to London Heathrow in which each traveler over 2 years old will be required to take a COVID-19 rapid test before boarding.

There’s little debate that the year 2020 has been one of the craziest, strangest, and most bizarre years in recent history, with the virus frenzy, lockdowns, quarantines, forced face diapers, election fraud, “warp speed” vaccines, and murmurings of a “Great Reset.”
Are all these topics and events related?
Are they part of a bigger plan?
And what exactly is the Great Reset?
Great questions! We just wrote an in-depth article where we attempt to “connect the dots” so put on your seatbelts and get ready to learn.

Hi Jimi,

If you are considering using fasting a therapeutic diet change, there are a couple of words of caution that are often left out of blogs and documentaries. So before you make any changes make sure you know that fasting is not a good idea if you are:

  • Underweight
  • Pregnant or Breastfeeding
  • Signs of Infection or at risk for infection
  • High level of exercise

In addition to these guidelines, there are certain types of cancer that might actually grow in a fasting environment.

Some cancers can use the ketone body acetoacetate to increase growth of the cancer. This has been shown to be a concern in cancers with the BRAF gene mutated. This gene can be prevalent in melanoma, colon cancer, and other cancer types. You can often find BRAF mutation information in your pathology report or in tumor cell genetic reports such as Guardant360, Caris, or FoundationOne testing.

There is also some evidence that AML can become resistant to the effects of fasting or fasting mimicking over time. However, ALL does not have this same precaution.

So before you start something like fasting, it’s important to know if it’s the right fit for you and your body.

Also, check with your doctor before starting a diet change like fasting.

Cheers,

Hi Jimi,
Sulforaphane could be the most health-promoting antioxidant in the world. Studies tell us that it can help fight inflammation, protect your brain, detoxify your liver, prevent cancer, support your heart, and promote healthy weight loss.
But this marvelous nutrient — sulforaphane — isn’t actually in any foods. It’s a compound that’s created when you chew certain vegetables, thereby releasing components that mix in your mouth, and create this life-giving antioxidant.
Get the whole story about this truly amazing nutrient here.
Yours for vibrant health,
Ocean Robbins
P.S. You’ve probably heard that broccoli is good for you. But do you know what might be even better for you? Broccoli sprouts. Turns out, they’re the richest source of the compounds your body needs to produce sulforaphane. Find out all about it here.

Mouthwash Helps Fight COVID-19
By Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, MDs

It's hard to believe that even today some people think washing a kid's mouth out with soap for sassing off is a good idea. The American Academy of Pediatrics considers it a form of child abuse.
But as recently as this year, a Florida teacher was suspended after she declared a talkative student needed to be punished like that, and proceeded to put hand sanitizer (the modern version) into his mouth.
Special: Don't Buy Another Bottle of Olive Oil Before Seeing This
In contrast, using mouthwash to rinse your mouth — voluntarily — can be a healthy step, according to a study in the Journal of Medical Virology. It knocks out the virus that causes COVID-19.
Researchers tested a wide range of mouthwashes, including Crest Pro Health (active ingredient cetylpyridium chloride; safe and effective, but shouldn't be used for more than seven days according to a 1994 FDA report) and Listerine Antiseptic (active ingredients eucalyptol, menthol, methyl salicylate, and thymol). They also looked at hydrogen peroxide–based mouthwashes.
They found that Crest Pro Health killed at least 99.9% of the virus in the mouth; Listerine Antiseptic killed more than 99.99%; and peroxide brands knocked out slightly less.
Overall, the researchers say, "Most of the common over-the-counter mouthwashes/gargles tested demonstrated at least a 90% reduction in infectious virus at one minute of contact time."
And the longer you rinse, the more power they have.
If you want to do all you can to keep COVID-19 at bay, mouthwash is one more effective technique to complement mask wearing and social distancing.

Wouldn't just plan Hydrogen peroxide do the same. That's what our soldiers used.

I think it would help but not be as effective as mouth wash because of the alcohol content in the mouthwash being more of a disinfectant than the peroxide maybe ;)

How's 'bout all the children who sees people wearing masks? Not seeing people facial expressions, seeing peoples lips move, not seeing smiles, etc.... How' bout the children who don't see their mom or dad ( the divorced parents) , not seeing their grandparents, not being able to physically touch, hug, play with one another. I could go on, but I think the point is clear.
Who the hell is going to start standing up for the CHILDREN??? It most certainly CAN NOT be the government.

Hello everyone! And Happy Tuesday
?

The Wellness Universe has published another of my blog posts, but due to an email server issue, I didn’t know! So I’m sharing it now.
Sugar is not great for us for a number of reasons. Besides the fact that cancer LOVES sugar and needs up to 200x the amount that healthy cells do, sugar also contributes to chronic inflammation, weight gain, and hormone imbalances, all things we want to AVOID, especially in the context of cancer.
In this blog post, I share some very interesting research on the many reasons why sugar is as bad for us as it is delicious and offer my favourite alternatives for treats, baking, and everyday use.
Check it out on The Wellness Universe below!

Hi Jimi,

It’s no secret that the holiday season is often used as a time for over-indulgence.
Grilled and salted meats, buttery potatoes, pies, candies, sugary beverages…
All of these things have become an almost intrinsic part of celebrating the holidays but over time they do far more damage to our health than the temporary pleasure they give warrants.
During the filming of The Answer to Cancer, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Jane Barlow Christensen and she shared a number of fascinating insights about the power of a healthy, clean diet and utilizing herbs.

Quick question: do you enjoy mushrooms?

What you might not know is this: mushrooms are one of the world's most well studied superfoods and are jam packed with amazing benefits, making them one of only 50 superfoods in the world that qualify as "Four Sigmatic."

In other words, the best of the best.

Plus, mushrooms don’t just benefit our bodies’ internal environment. They can also improve the health of the ecosystems on which our very survival relies.

[More on the work of Paul Stamets later. But for now…]

Cool thing is, you don’t actually have to eat mushrooms to absorb all of their amazing healing properties.

I mean, don’t get me wrong - I LOVE sauteed ‘shrooms for sure.

AND you can also drink the benefits in some great tasting, Four Sigmatic blends.

Check out the benefits of these varieties:

CHAGA - ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES:
Chaga mushroom can help support immune functions. It is called the king of mushrooms. You'll find growing naturally in the wild and it has antioxidant properties.

LION'S MANE - BRAIN & NERVOUS SYSTEM
Lion's Mane is an all-natural cognitive enhancer. It has been shown to support memory and concentration.

REISHI - STRESS & SLEEP
If you have occasional stress and difficulty sleeping, Reishi mushroom can help you relax and get a good night sleep.

CORDYCEPS - ENERGY & PERFORMANCE
Cordyceps is an adaptogen, not a stimulant, so it helps you produce and maintain steady energy levels. Coffee can give you an energy spike, followed by a crash; cordyceps, on the other hand, helps your body produce its own energy.

One of the many gifts of this time has been aligning with friends and colleagues who share my views on health as a celebration of human life.

I’m grateful for this conversation with a treasured ally and pioneer, Dr. Thomas Cowan. In this in-depth discussion, we cover a wide range of topics that all come back to one thing: what it means to walk the path of personal reclamation. ?

? Watch now to find out more about...

  • My personal journey through the Dark Night and the reclamation of my shadow
  • How to handle interpersonal conflict during this time
  • My views on conventional psychiatry
  • The journey from victimhood to personal salvation
It is my hope that conversations like this one can help grow the field of possibility for health, healing, and liberation. ✨

What if Maslow Didn't Have it All Right?

In 1943, even Abraham Maslow noted that there were flaws in the theory he presented when he published his paper, “A theory of human motivation.”

Still, he continued to tease out its more tangled bits until in 1954, he published a book on the subject: “Motivation and Personality.”

Whether the theory caught on because of the paper or the book is a matter for some debate. But what’s clear is that, flawed or not, the pyramid demarking the human hierarchy of needs became a touchpoint in psychology, sociology, management training, and our individual understanding of how to measure our growth and gauge our stability.

You likely learned about this pyramid in some general education health class, or in Psych 101…

At the very least, it’s probable that you’ve heard the expression “self-actualized” applied to someone we as a society would consider put together well.

The pyramid functions thusly: The motivations at the bottom tier are human beings’ first and most basic motivator. As we move up the pyramid and needs are met, motivation graduates to less tangible pursuits.

  • On the bottom tier are the Physiological Needs that you must meet in order to survive. They are: food, water, shelter, rest, warmth.

  • On the next tier are the Safety Needs that you must meet once the Physiological Needs have been met. They are: security and protection.

  • On the next tier are the Connection Needs that you must meet once the previous two have been met. They are: intimate relationships, close family, friendships.

  • On the next tier are the Self Esteem Needs that you must meet once the previous three have been met. They are: pride in yourself, prestige, and feelings of accomplishment.

  • On the final tier are the Self-Actualization Needs that you must meet once the previous four have been met. They are: reaching your full potential and feeling satisfied at your final result, like you grew in the direction you were meant to.
But there are another set of needs that have been said to influence Maslow’s admittedly unsound model: the indigenous Blackfoot Nation’s hierarchy of needs.

The Fundamental Flaw

Before we get into the Blackfoot Nation’s pyramid, let us try to spot where Maslow may have missed the mark.

I’ll give you a hint…

Self-actualization is not the apex of human growth. Or rather, it’s not the apex of human growth in a society that meets the bottom tier’s needs.

In the 1940s and 1950s, it was normal (as it is today) for each individual person to be responsible for their own survival needs.

So when Maslow visited the Blackfoot Nation in 1938 and learned from them their own motivational model, it makes sense that he would tweak it a bit to make it applicable to not all of humankind, but Western capitalistic householders. His theory is less reflective of the universality of man and more of the 18 people he surveyed for his pyramid.
For the Blackfoot Nation, the motivational model looks like this:

On the first tier is Self-actualization – a feeling of reaching one’s potential, completeness, ease with oneself.

On the second tier is Community Actualization – this references an idea antithetical to the Western principles of individualism. The community ought to function as a living, breathing organism, focused on maintaining self-sufficiency and care-taking all of its members.

On the third tier is Cultural Perpetuity – even though the life of each man is finite, the life of the culture may live on forever if the tiers below are fully realized, the health of the community is ensured, and traditions as well as new ideas are nourished.

What Does This Mean for Us Today?

For most of us in the West, it’s difficult to wrap our heads around such an idea.

Thousands of people live in neighborhoods, but how many are involved in neighborhood endeavors – monthly meetings, community safety and clean-up, community-supported agriculture plots? Usually, it’s a very small percentage.

And of course, there’s no wonder that’s the case. Because we spend most of our lives trying to meet the lower tiered levels of Maslow’s pyramid before even reaching self-actualization…

It’s certainly more of a struggle to consider needs outside of the self when the needs inside of the self have yet to be met – and in our world, meeting the needs inside of the self is made to be a perpetual trial.

That’s why, for Maslow, it seemed worthy of its own pyramid.

However, in an indigenous nation, with its emphasis on connectivity and communal living, self-actualization isn’t some elusive goal, like a horizon that recedes as you approach it.

It’s considered not only possible, but a basic need. The true goal was to build a legacy that lasts.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week – however you’ve decided to or not decided to – we would do well to remember the legacy of togetherness and community care baked into the philosophies of many indigenous nations, how we’ve interpreted them, and how we can better integrate those principles into our own lives.

While you’re giving thanks this year, think of ways that your community has supported you, and give thanks for that too!

Say NO To Forced Coronavirus Vaccine
Immense fear of the coronavirus, along with sweeping government-imposed shutdowns and stay-at-home orders, has crippled entire populations. Authorities now say the only way out is a vaccine for all along with 24/7 tracking and surveillance. Bill Gates, a tech billionaire who uses his wealth and status to influence policy, has gone on record saying that life will not return to normal until we can vaccinate the entire global population against COVID-19. Gates has also suggested that the coronavirus vaccine might become part of routine newborn immunizations. To that end, he is pushing for disease surveillance and a vaccine tracking system that might involve embedding vaccination records into our bodies through quantum dot technology.

Fried Fish Can Shorten Your Life

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

Everyone has most likely heard that fried foods are bad for your heart. At the same time, it’s often recommended that a healthy diet should include plenty of fish for proteins.

Frying can transform any food — even fish, which the American Heart Association recommends twice a week — into something that’s bad for your heart. And according to research, that holds true no matter what your gender.

Special: Dr. Crandall Saved His Own Heart With This

In January 2019, data from a large U.S. study found that women who regularly ate fried food, even if it was fried fish, were at an increased risk of dying from heart-related causes.

That finding correlated with an earlier study on men, in which fried fish led to an increased risk of the most common form of diabetes.

Perhaps more surprising was that fried fish — both fin or shellfish — was linked to a 7% higher risk of death from all causes, and a 13% higher risk of death from heart disease.

Fried fish is dangerous for your heart because fillets are typically coated in batter or flour prior to frying, which adds calories. When fish is fried in oil, it loses water and absorbs fat, increasing the calories even more.

Fried foods are also typically high in trans fats, which are formed when unsaturated fats are heated to very high temperatures. Consuming these fats increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes.

Fish is a vital part of a heart-healthy diet, so long as it’s grilled, baked, or broiled — but never fried.
