The Nuts and Bolts of Your Mitochondria | |
Hey Jim, Have you ever thought about what powers all the functions of your body? We get power from nutrients which our body transforms into energy. It’s that energy that boosts the cells in our body. All types of cells have small generators called mitochondria that, in many ways, are their sources for life. (We all have heard "mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell!") Mitochondria are the only part of the cell where our basic life requirements — food and air — are combined to make energy in a process known as the Krebs cycle.
