A new independent lab test, commissioned by the holistic food scanning app Olive, has found that several popular baby food products contain lead levels up to 257% higher than California's Prop 65 daily limit. This is the largest heavy metal screening of baby food to date, analyzing close to 300 products from major brands. Lead is a known neurotoxin, and there is no safe level of exposure, particularly for children. Even small amounts can permanently impact brain development, lower IQ, and increase risks for learning disabilities, attention issues, and behavioral problems. While California’s Prop 65 law sets daily maximum intake limits, federal agencies like the FDA have still not established enforceable limits for heavy metals in most baby foods. This regulatory gap allows brands to continue selling contaminated products with no accountability.

Breastfed Babies Have Healthier Blood Pressure

Toddlers who were breastfed for even a few days have lower blood pressure than those who always got a bottle, research finds.

And lower blood pressure at an early age may lead to healthier heart and blood vessels in adulthood, researchers said.

"Infants who received even a relatively small amount of their mother's early breast milk, also known as colostrum, had lower blood pressure at 3 years of age, regardless of how long they were breastfed or when they received other complementary foods," said lead author Dr. Kozeta Miliku, a postdoctoral fellow at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Colostrum, which is present in breast milk but not infant formula, is loaded with immune, growth, and tissue repair properties that benefit baby. Other research has linked breastfeeding with lower heart disease risk in adulthood, but how much breastfeeding was needed to gain that benefit was unclear.

Furthermore, fats make up about 70% of the brain and insulate the cells to allow neurotransmitters to communicate.
Fats and cholesterol make up every cell in our body. The cholesterol keeps cell membranes permeable, which then allows the good nutrients in and toxins out.

More than 8% of the brain’s solid matter is cholesterol, which is essential for cognitive and brain functioning. It normalizes the neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.

You need fat. But it needs to be healthy fat.

Fasting and cancer?

“You’re not going to believe it, but I went to school with this guy!”

Here are 4 breathing techniques to help you do it right:

👉 1. Diaphragmatic Breathing (a.k.a. Belly Breathing)

This teaches you to breathe deeply from your belly—not your chest—which activates your body’s natural relaxation response.

How to do it:
  • Sit or lie comfortably.
  • Place one hand on your belly, one on your chest.
  • Inhale slowly through your nose, letting your belly rise.

In recent years, scientists have come to understand that there’s a crucial link between telomeres and aging.

Telomeres are the protective caps at the ends of every chromosome in the human body.

As one study explained, “Telomere length shortens with age. Progressive shortening of telomeres leads to senescence, apoptosis, or oncogenic transformation of somatic cells, affecting the health and lifespan of an individual. Shorter telomeres have been associated with increased incidence of diseases and poor survival.”

Research has shown that certain things can affect the rate at which telomeres shorten. For example, doing more exercise, eating better, managing stress, and getting enough sleep can slow telomere shortening. By doing so, you can effectively extend your lifespan and combat biological aging.

Well, according to a recent study (from May 2025), there’s a simple yet highly effective new solution for protecting your telomeres against shortening. One simple supplement may offer game-changing results to help you age gracefully and improve longevity.

The study, using data conducted by researchers from Mass General Brigham and the Medical College of Georgia, found that taking Vitamin D had startling effects on slowing telomere shortening.

More than 1,000 patients took Vitamin D supplements (along with Omega 3s), and their telomeres were measured two and four years after the study began. The patients that consumed Vitamin D daily or frequently experienced “significant” reduction in telomere shortening over that time.

As one of the researchers made clear in an interview, “Our findings suggest that targeted vitamin D supplementation may be a promising strategy to counter a biological aging process.”

What does this mean for you?

Simple: getting more Vitamin D in your daily life has the potential to slow aging—specifically, biological aging, or the breakdown of cells caused by damage, wear, and the deterioration of your internal mechanisms.

Because Vitamin D slows the rate at which telomeres shorten, it preserves the protective caps that keep your chromosomes from degenerating. You are likely to live longer and suffer from less disease (often caused by cellular deterioration) just by adding more Vitamin D to your life.

The simplest solution for getting more Vitamin D is just to spend more time outdoors.

When sunlight hits your skin, it interacts with 7-dehydrocholesterol (a cholesterol derivative) and causes it to be turned into previtamin D, which your body ultimately uses to produce Vitamin D.

Just half an hour of sunlight a day is enough to maintain healthy Vitamin D levels.

However, if you want to increase Vitamin D production, or you live in a climate that has little to no sunlight for months at a time (common in northern North America or parts of Europe), a Vitamin D supplement may be the best choice.

In the study mentioned above, the participants took only the recommended 2,000 IU of Vitamin D per day. No extraordinary amounts or extra-large doses, just the standard dose that is recommended on every label on every Vitamin D bottle.

But with that amount of Vitamin D, you can improve the health of your skin and bones, boost your immunity, support good brain health, and above all, preserve your longevity.

One small supplement added to your daily routine, but what a difference it can make.
