Hi friend,
Have you ever noticed that your blood sugar always seems to be the highest first thing in the morning?
No matter what you eat, or how good it was before bed, it goes up almost every morning. It can be so frustrating and confusing.
The Dawn Phenomenon, or high morning blood sugar, is one of the most common and annoying experiences that many people with diabetes and pre-diabetes have.
We often hear that this is due to the awakening process. The adrenal hormones like cortisol and adrenaline rise and trigger the liver to release sugar. That is true, but it's only part of the story.
Understanding the true cause of high morning blood sugar will help you correct this problem and finally get your HbA1c to where you want it.
That's why I put together my new webinar called "Secrets To Lower Morning Blood Sugar", where I'll help you gain a better understanding of how this works and how to fix it.
The webinar is this Friday, March 12 at 3:00pm Eastern, 12:00pm Pacific.
>> Register now by clicking here.
This webinar training will be about an hour, and will be jam-packed with valuable information.
Here's some of what I'll cover:
  • What really causes high morning blood sugar (it's not just cortisol from the adrenals)
  • How to use your morning blood sugar reading as a way to assess the cause of your diabetes or high blood sugar
  • The difference between the Dawn Phenomenon, the Somogyi Effect, and a Phase 2 Insulin problem
  • The secrets to lower morning blood sugars
  • When to consider using insulin, medications, or supplements to help lower your morning glucose readings
  • Live Q&A with me!
This is a brand new webinar training, and I'll be sharing some powerful information! If you're serious about fixing your blood sugar and you want to learn how to get those morning blood sugar readings down, join me for this free webinar training.
See you there!

Cold Showers

Okay, I have to admit on this one I just cant bring myself to do it. I have a rule that I don't really recommend anything unless I have tried it myself. This goes for just about every product or practice I talk about with anyone and every health hack I have ever written about or shared. BUT, this one... I just cant bring myself to do yet.

When I wake up in the morning the last thing I want to do, is to jump in a cold shower. However, there are some great benefits and I am working up the nerve to try it.

Benefits of a cold shower:
  • Improve Circulation
  • Increase Metabolism
  • Reduce Stress
  • Tighten Pores
  • Boost Immunity
  • Increase Alertness
  • Speed Workout Recovery
  • And More.
The more I read about taking a cold shower the better it sounds. Right up until the point where I am about to flip that water over from a comfortable warm temperature to a polar bear blast.

Here are a few tips I have read, on how to build up the willpower to take advantage of these benefits.
  1. Alternate between hot and cold water, a technique known as the “Scottish Shower.”

  2. In classic James Bond style, you can switch over to cold water for the last couple of minutes.

  3. Make it "fun" by turning it into an experiment. LOL... Okay. They say to try it for 1 minute on the first day and see how you feel. By day 3 work up to 3 minutes. (Experiment. yes... fun.. well I'm not so sure about that)
The recommended time to get the benefits, is at least 3 minutes.

So... let me know how you do. :)

I am going to give it a shot and I'll let you know how it goes.
Until next time! Make good choices and stay healthy! 😀

Today's Motivation

Thursday

March 11, 2021

Anyone who has rejected you was never meant for you. You don't have to internalize their limitations. Think of rejection as an opportunity of being redirected to someone you needed. Do not let rejections of the past convince you that you don't deserve any better. Use those experiences to become emotionally stronger than before. Trust that you are being aligned with someone worthy of you. You deserve to be with someone who doesn’t take you for granted.

Hi Jimi,
Inflammation, when functioning properly, is essential to help the body fight off hostile microbes and repair damaged tissue.
However, there is a much darker side to inflammation that has been linked to 20% of all cancer-related deaths.
Both MIT and Harvard report on chronic inflammation as not only being linked to cancer but “...as many as one in five cancers are believed to be caused or promoted by inflammation.”
1 in 5!
Thankfully, to help reverse these terrible statistics…
My good friend, Dr. Villanueva, has just released an easy-to-read eBook with unique ‘inflammation fighting’ foods to help people around the world fight inflammation and ward off inflammatory conditions like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and even Alzheimer’s.
>> Claim Your Copy Here (100% free)
This eBook is jam-packed with 36 pages of (quite unique) ancient herbs, spices, foods, and remedies that will transform your health for the better.
Be Blessed!
Dr. David Jockers
P.S. Along with your eBook, you’ll also get FREE online access to Dr. Villanueva’s powerful 5-part series, the Inflammation Masterclass.
This series will reveal everything you need to know about inflammation, its impact on your health, how to keep it from spreading, and what you can do to keep it away for good!

Hi Jimi,
Vitamins K1 and K2 are critical to the health of your teeth, bones, brain, and heart. They’re also important for blood coagulation (so you don’t bleed out whenever you get a cut or a bruise!).
Vitamin K1 is especially abundant in leafy greens. But vitamin K2 is surprisingly difficult to obtain from plant food sources.
So where can you get each kind of this important nutrient? How much do you need? And how do you know if you’re getting enough?
Here’s what you need to know about vitamin K.
Yours for nutritional knowledge that matters,
Ocean Robbins
P.S. Don’t be deceived by the fact that vitamin K apparently got stranded at the middle of the alphabet. It deserves a lot more attention than it’s been getting. Click here to find out all about vitamin K.

Can Awareness Help Us Unwind Anxiety? with Dr. Judson Brewer

Anxiety might mean different things to different people, but one commonality is the literal feeling of being wound up and tangled.

The brain is always looking for information to try to predict the future, in order to keep us safe. While this may have been helpful when we were trying not to starve and dodging large predators, in modern times it can cause us to spiral into anxiety and worry.

Today on The Broken Brain Podcast, Dhru talks to Dr. Judson Brewer about the patterns involved with anxious thinking, how they also relate to addiction, and mindfulness exercises that can help us break free.

Dr. Brewer is an internationally renowned addiction psychiatrist and neuroscientist. He is an associate professor in the School of Public Health, and Medical School at Brown University. His 2016 TED talk, "A Simple Way to Break a Bad Habit," has been viewed over 16 million times. He has trained Olympic athletes and coaches, government ministers and business leaders. His first book, The Craving Mind: From Cigarettes to Smartphones to Love, Why We Get Hooked and How We Can Break Bad Habits, was published in over 16 languages.

Dr. Brewer explains how positive and negative reinforcements shape our behavior and why humans evolved this way. Anxiety and addiction are both heavily dictated by this push and pull of behavior—Dr. Brewer tells us why embracing the feelings we often want to run away from and bringing greater awareness to our habits is the first step towards changing them.

When it comes to food, Dr. Brewer and Dhru discuss some helpful tips for being more aware of each bite to reduce overeating and identify our pleasure plateau. This is a great way to differentiate habitual eating from purposeful eating and create a healthier relationship with our meals.

After suffering from panic attacks and the stress of medical school, Dr. Brewer began practicing mindfulness and meditation and discovered some amazing benefits. This dramatically changed the way he practiced psychiatry and led him to some interesting trials and many patient success stories.

Mapping our habit loops by recognizing the trigger, behavior, and result is essential if we want to break the cycles of anxiety and addiction. Mindfulness practices are a powerful way to be in the moment, break out of autopilot, and finally ditch the bad habits that bring us down. Dr. Brewer and Dhru talk about this and so much more on this episode.

Wishing you health and happiness,
Mark Hyman, MD

5 Ways to Enhance Your Memory

By Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Mike Roizen, MDs

"Right now," said Steven Wright, "I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before." And while it's true that youngsters do forget names, math facts, and when Dad said to be home, many folks 50 and older notice that their recall (what year did we go to California?) isn't what it used to be.

Special: Brain Doctor's Secret Weapon for 'Shrinkage'

When you have such a senior moment, it's just a stutter in what's called episodic memory, and rarely is it long-lasting. But if you're concerned about your recall, talk to your doc about stress, sleep problems, depression, thyroid disease, diabetes, vitamin B-12 deficiency, excess alcohol use, infections, and your medications. They're all possible memory-busters. And try our unforgettable, brain-boosting tips!

1. Walk fast for at least 30 minutes daily, heading for 10,000 steps a day. Any exercise, but especially aerobics that make you sweat, is the very best memory enhancer.

2. Cut body-wide inflammation with omega-3 DHA from salmon or ocean trout; and take 900 mg of DHA from algal oil daily. Add in more omega-3s: walnuts, canola, and extra-virgin olive oil.

3. Try the spice turmeric to reduce triglyceride levels, increase fat burning, and keep blood sugar steady. Dr. Mike carries packets of yellow mustard, full of turmeric, to add to snacks and meals.

4. Take two baby aspirins daily (if your doc approves) with a half-glass of water before and after.

5. Get romantic. The neurotransmitter dopamine helps control information flow and memory. Levels decrease with age, but zoom up with sexual activity.

6 Steps to Reverse Heart Disease

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

Heart disease is really just a way of saying that you have deposits of calcium and/or other substances in your arteries. The good news is that there are ways you can reverse the condition.

Special: Doctors Witness Amazing Joint Pain Changes

  • Increase fiber intake. If you want to reverse existing heart disease, increasing your fiber intake is key. You can get fiber by eating more fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
  • Eat a plant-based diet. People who eat diets rich in fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains, beans and legumes, olive oil, and nuts tend to have healthier hearts.
  • Adding modest amounts of cold-water fish like tuna, cod, salmon, or trout also provides a boost of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Lose weight. Excess body fat not only raises cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels, but fat cells also produce inflammatory compounds that can cause formation of plaque in the coronary arteries. Losing weight can also reverse diabetes — a major heart attack risk factor.
  • Take a daily hourlong walk. Study after study has shown that regular walking helps regulate or prevent diabetes, keeps the heart muscle strong and flexible, and boosts blood flow.
  • If you use any type of smoking products, quit. Tobacco smoke contains thousands of chemicals that can damage your coronary arteries. Studies show that e-cigarettes also may be harmful to your heart and lungs.

Hi Jimi
All disease begins in the Gut… right?

Or is it the Brain? Or the Immune system?

Here’s the TRUTH.

For many of us, it may be all three.

And all three — the Brain, Immunity, and the Gut — need to be addressed no matter what your symptoms are.

You see, there is a Brain-Immune-Gut axis that interconnects all 3 systems, and when one part of the system goes down, the other parts suffer as well.

And the ‘BIG’ idea that is sweeping functional medicine is that the microbiome is the connector of the brain, immune system, and gut.

The microbiome communicates with immune cells all over the body, it communicates with our brain and even with our mitochondria.

And this understanding is changing the way we address chronic health problems!

Please join us to discover the BIG Idea in healing chronic conditions at The Brain Immune Gut Masterclass.

image

This event focuses on sharing practical strategies that you can use to improve your Brain-Immune-Gut Axis, which will have a far-reaching impact on the whole body.

You will learn things that you can implement right away and see changes in your symptoms in a matter of weeks!

The bottom line is that whether you are trying to heal from a chronic illness or fight an acute infection, you must address the Brain-Immune-Gut dysfunction that is driving it all.

Learn how to reset and reclaim your health when you join me at The Brain Immune Gut Masterclass!
To your health,

Jimi,

While we were finishing the TRAUMA documentary series, I set out on a mission to capture some of the most powerful learnings along our journey and put them all in one place.

After years of suffering, many patients we interviewed had seen fast and profound results doing some new innovative therapies.

This blew my mind. After all, I've been in medicine for some time and knew of how dismal the efficacy of most therapies were.

THESE WERE DIFFERENT.

I invited three of the docs who were getting the most profound results in to teach a Masterclass on Healing Trauma. New modules start next week along with live Q&A sessions with each of these experts.

You need to check this out.

It's the most comprehensive course on healing trauma out there- all for less than 3 typical therapy sessions.

See you there!

*-- CDC: Fully vaccinated people can gather with others, without masks --*

People fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors, without wearing masks or staying six feet apart if everyone gathered is at low risk for severe disease, according to guidelines released Monday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

They also will not need to quarantine and or get tested for the virus after having contact with someone who has COVID-19, unless they start having symptoms, the agency said.

"We know that people want to get vaccinated so they can get back to doing the things they enjoy with the people they love," CDC director Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky said in a statement.

"There are some activities that fully vaccinated people can begin to resume now in their own homes," she said.

A "growing body of scientific evidence" indicates that fully vaccinated people are less likely to get infected and pass the virus to others, according to the CDC.

Therefore, they "can safely take fewer precautions in certain situations," the agency said.

About 31 million people in the United States, or about 9% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against the virus, meaning they have received both doses of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, according to the agency.

A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last required dose of vaccine, it said.

A single-dose vaccine, from Johnson & Johnson, has been available since last week.

Although the agency described the somewhat relaxed restrictions for fully vaccinated people as a "positive step," the vast majority of people across the country still need to be fully vaccinated before pandemic-related precautions "can be lifted broadly."

As a result, it is still important that "everyone continues to adhere to public health mitigation measures to protect the large number of people who remain unvaccinated," including wearing face coverings in public, avoiding large gatherings and maintaining social distancing, the CDC said.

In addition, CDC recommends that fully vaccinated people continue to wear well-fitted masks, stay at least six feet from people they do not live with, avoid medium- and large-sized in-person gatherings and get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms "when in public, when visiting with unvaccinated people from multiple other households and when around unvaccinated people high risk for severe illness."

"Everyone -- even those who are vaccinated -- should continue with all mitigation strategies when in public settings," Walensky said.

"As the science evolves and more people get vaccinated, we will continue to provide more guidance to help fully vaccinated people safely resume more activities," she said.
