You know Jimi, I'd say one of my biggest themes here at Evolutionary Herbalism is that if we want to be holisitic herbalists, we have to use whole plants to heal the whole person.
But an entirely other level of being “whole-istic” is looking at how people and plants are in relationship with the wholeness of life itself. And that's really what astrology is, the underlying pattern of the wholeness of life.
To me, it only makes sense that it’d fit right into a holistic philosophy and practice of herbalism.
But I’m getting a lot of questions about how all this works…

Dr. Chauncey Crandall, M.D., writes:

A research study suggests strict control of hypertension may help prevent dementia. Researchers at the U.S. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) used MRIs to scan the brains of hundreds of patients with high blood pressure.

They found that people who got “intensive” control of their high blood pressure showed a slowing of accumulation of certain lesions in the brain’s white matter, compared to people who got “standard” blood pressure treatment.

Prior research has suggested that people with high blood pressure are at increased risk for accumulation of white matter lesions and also for mental decline and dementia.

The study also found that patients who received intensive blood pressure control had slightly more loss of the brain’s volume, compared to people who got standard treatment.

The effect was seen predominantly in men.

Dr. Chauncey W. Crandall is author of Dr. Crandall’s Heart Health Report newsletter. He is a Yale graduate and is chief of the Cardiac Transplant Program at the world-renowned Palm Beach Cardiovascular Clinic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He practices interventional, vascular, and transplant cardiology.

Men who sleep five hours a night have significantly smaller testicles than those who sleep at least 7 hours...

And women can expect similar disastrous outcomes to their sexual health if they don’t get enough shut-eye.

It gets worse...

The link between a lack of sleep and cancer is now so strong that even the World Health Organization is declaring that sleep interruptions can act as a cancer-causing carcinogen.

And according to top health researchers, daylight savings time is proof …

When we lose one hour of sleep in the Spring, heart attacks increase by 24% the next day.

In the Fall, when we get an hour of sleep back, heart attacks drop by 21%.

That’s bad news for anyone that already sleeps badly most nights.​

Some of us have an inner belief that we deserve bad things. Maybe you've had many bad experiences in the past, and you have been feeling down for so long that you just can't see beyond sadness. So when bad things happen, you make no effort to be happy because you think you somehow deserve it. That's not true. This belief makes you oblivious to moments of happiness that are right in front of you. You deserve good things. You deserve happiness. Allow yourself to fully savor happy experiences. You have to make an effort to bring positive change into your life and embrace happiness. You are worthy of joy. Don't let yourself believe that pain is all there is.

You Can’t Exaggerate White Bread’s Drawbacks

Around 150 B.C., wealthy Romans decided they wanted white bread, made in mechanical dough mixers powered by donkeys, to distinguish themselves from the lower classes who ate bread made from unrefined whole grains.

That obsession with pale loaves of bread has persisted to this day.

Each American eats about 53 pounds of bread a year — and although much of it now comes in packages with "whole grain" on the label, very little is actually 100% whole grain.

And the majority of the hundreds of millions of bagels, tortillas, and croissants that Americans eat are nothing but refined white flour that is stripped of nutrients and fiber, turned into a glucose-boosting, heart-clogging choice.

A new study published in the BMJ shows that eating seven servings a day of refined grains, like those in croissants and white bread, is associated with a 27% greater risk for early death, 33% greater risk for heart disease, and 47% greater risk for stroke.

No wonder heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S.

Unfortunately, it's easy to eat more than seven servings. That equals one big bagel (around five to six servings in a 5- to 6-ounce bagel) at breakfast and two hearty slices of white bread on a sandwich at lunch.

Instead, opt for 100% whole grains. You can cook them up using the wonderful recipes in Dr. Mike's "What to Eat When Cookbook."

[BREAKING NEWS] Corrupt Coding Coverup:
Hospitals Intentionally Hide Prices Despite New Federal Law

One of the biggest problems with the American healthcare system has been transparency; patients have no idea how much they’ll be charged for care until after they recieve it. Under a federal law proposed by President Trump and signed into law on January 1st, hospitals are now required to make their pricing easily accessible to patients.

However, a recent investigation has discovered that hundreds of hospitals have been intentionally removing pricing data from Google searches, despite the new law requiring them to make this data public.



Hospitals that violate the rule face a penalty of up to $300 a day. But it appears that hundreds of hospitals are still trying to circumvent the transparency law, using Google search parameters in their website code to hide the data.
