Travel is one of the major factors that can contribute to DVTs, because sitting still for hours — whether in a car, train, or plane — can cause the blood to pool in your legs, and lead to the formation of clots.

In addition, taking aspirin during your trip can help prevent blood clots. Discuss that option with your physician before you set out.

Cancer Therapy: Mistletoe (Iscador)
  • Mistletoe targets the cancer cell instead of all cells. Interestingly enough, mistletoe uses trees rather than soil to grow in all directions, mirroring an unruly cancer cell.

  • Results from a study done on mistletoe therapy for cancer treatment show survival time of patients treated with Iscador was longer for all types of cancer studied. Roughly 40% longer than in the control groups.

Cancer Drug: Taxol (Yew Tree)
  • Taxol, originally extracted from the bark of the Pacific yew tree, is one of the most commonly used drugs against solid tumors and is a front-line drug for treating ovarian and advanced breast cancer.

    The drug is known to bind to microtubules and essentially freeze them in place, which prevents them from separating the chromosomes when a cell divides. This kills dividing cells, in particular cancer cells, which are known for rapid proliferation."

  • Cascara Sagrada is an aged bark that is utilized for constipation. The bark is very bitter — which stimulates the vagus nerve, liver and digestive organs. As bile acids and pancreatic secretions begin moving in the gastrointestinal tract, it triggers the gastric mucosa to expand and contract. This is important to help foods move through the digestive tract.

  • Some of the active compounds in the herb work by irritating the digestive mucosa — causing them to writhe and contract. We will never get rid of the feeling of uncertainty, but we can learn to live with it. Don't lose your sense of peace over something you don't even know yet.

Why would you entertain negative thoughts about something that's not actually happening?

Practice acceptance and appreciate the good things you have right now. Focus on becoming a better version of yourself every day.

Remind yourself that worrying will not make you better at predicting the future. Just trust that no matter what comes next, you will be okay.

Hope your fall is going well. And I hope you are taking advantage of getting outside if the weather is nice where you are.
Recently I went on the longest bike ride I’ve been able to do for the past few years. Partially because the Minnesota weather is much cooler than Arizona this time of year. And I want to enjoy it while I’m here.
Did you know Minnesota converted many of their unused railroad lines into paved bike paths? Isn’t that a great idea?!
In fact, the Paul Bunyan trail is the longest paved reclaimed trail in the country at 120 miles. And it’s incredibly scenic and beautiful too. It feels like it was always a biking trail.
As much as I enjoy longer endurance events, I’ve come to learn that they leave me sluggish for a day or so.
When you are too tired to do what you want, nothing else matters. There are solutions though.
Solutions to fatigue can include:
  • Finding the cause
  • Pacing your activities
  • Adjusting expectations
  • Adding in helpful supplements
I’ve created several products over the years that have helped the body make energy more effectively. In today’s new blog, I’ll explain how you can choose them to potentially help you regain your energy.

Diet, Exercise Lower Diabetes Risk

Diabetes is now an epidemic, not only in the U.S. but globally as well. But there is a simple way to reduce your risk of developing this deadly disease: Eat meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables, and take a walk after you eat.

Fruits and vegetables are loaded with antioxidants, which reduce oxidative stress that causes aging and bodily damage.

Special: Doctor Finally Discovers Natural Secret Weapon Against Aging

Researchers in the United Kingdom analyzed more than 1,500 adults who participated in a dietary survey. They focused on two blood biomarkers — serum C-reactive protein to assess inflammation and plasma carotenoid to evaluate oxidative stress.

They found that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and low in chips, sugar, and white bread helped to reduce diabetes risk.

Mayo Clinic researchers conducted a study in which volunteers walked after two of their daily meals and sat after a randomly chosen third meal. Walking was conducted in intervals in which participants walked for 33.5 minutes and sat for 26.5 minutes. Overall, they walked for a total of five to six hours and 3.5 to 4.2 miles in each 24-hour period.

At 4.5 hours after eating, people with diabetes had a glucose level 145% higher, on average, after inactivity than after walking. In people without diabetes there was a roughly 113% increase in glucose at 4.5 hours after eating and after inactivity compared to after walking.

In general, walking began to affect glucose levels 10 minutes after the exercise started, and the benefits extended until five hours.

One time a friend asked me, “John, what herbs do you always have on hand in your kitchen? Also, can you tell me ONE way that you use each of those herbs?”

I was able to rattle off a few answers, but it was that question that kept rattling around in my brain.

So I took out a notebook, went into the kitchen, and took inventory.

What I came up with was a list of the 16 botanicals that I use quite a bit. They are at an arm’s reach in the room I spend the most time in... the kitchen.

In addition to a “quick remedy,” I also listed out the top 3 ways I use those herbs, in addition to how much of these ingredients that I keep on hand.

Personally, I think these cards are like a mini-herbal course in themselves...

Research shows that it takes between 8 to 15 times of eating a new food to accept it as familiar. Taste is a learned pattern. Repeated exposure to a variety of fruits and vegetables has been shown to increase our acceptance and liking of them.
So, if you find a food on the ‘Best’ list that has you turning up your nose, give it another try — and keep trying. Over time, you will like these foods more and more. Just keep on doing it, and you will soon be lovin’ them.
#1: Green Vegetables
Leafy greens, cruciferous and other green vegetables are the most important foods to focus on for diabetes reversal and prevention. Higher green vegetable consumption is associated with lower HbA1c levels.(7)

#2: Non-Green, Non-Starchy Vegetables
Packed with fiber and phytochemicals, vegetables like mushrooms, onions, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, and cauliflower keep blood glucose low.

The ideal carbohydrate source with low glycemic load due to their protein, fiber and resistant starch.

Brent has achieved multiple verdicts totaling $2.4 billion, including the "Roundup causing cancer" case against Monsanto.
