Strawberries Help Prevent Heart Disease, Diabetes

Scientists at Warwick University in England studied the health benefits of strawberries and discovered the reason why they help prevent heart disease and diabetes.

Paul Thornalley, professor of biology, and his team found that an extract from strawberries helps activate a protein in the body called Nrf2, which helps lower blood glucose levels (sugar) and unhealthy cholesterol after a meal.

Special: Why Your Sugar Is Out of Control (Has Nothing to Do With Sweets)

“We’ve discovered the science behind how strawberries work to increase our in-built defenses to keep cells, organs, and blood vessels healthy, which can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular problems, such as heart disease and diabetes,” Thornalley said.

Research published in The Journal of Nutrition backs up the claims, suggesting strawberries may improve vascular function as soon as one hour after consumption.

“A diet low in fruit is among the top three risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes,” said Britt Burton-Freeman, professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology. “We need to increase the amount of total fruit consumed, as well as the diversity of fruit in the diet.”

How Bill Healed Stage 4 Cancer Holistically
In today's video, we sit down with Bill Buvens. In March, 2001, Bill was diagnosed with stage 4 colon and liver cancer and was told by doctors he'd be dead within six (6) months if he didn't comply with the doctors' recommendations of surgery, chemotherapy and possibly radiation. Doctors went on to say that even if Bill did comply, the chances of him surviving five (5) years were still less than 20%.

Bill decided to research the metabolic cause(s) of cancer and in doing so was able to formulate and implement a protocol to avoid chemotherapy and radiation and has remained cancer-free since 2001. Y

Rob Prior was diagnosed with stage III kidney cancer in 2013. A CT scan showed a 6.5cm tumor in his right kidney. Rob was advised by his doctor not to disturb the tumor with a biopsy due to the risk of spreading the cancer.
Rob then decided to opt out of conventional cancer treatment. He made radical changes to his life: a whole food plant-based diet, exercise, quitting drinking, and changing his mindset. Thirteen months later he was completely healed!
Rob has a remarkable healing story and a lot of wisdom to share. This was a great conversation. Enjoy!

Sugar is everywhere but did you know the child and adolescent age groups are consuming the most sugar?

There are both short and long term effects for our children.

The prefrontal cortex is an important regulator of higher order cognitive functions which include attention, behavioral control and self-regulation. This part of the brain is developing until the early 20’s.

Because a child's brain is always developing, it is particularly susceptible to the effects of sugar. Prolonged and daily consumption of high sugar (and high fat) foods has been linked to a loss of neurons (cells that make up the brain) in the prefrontal cortex, and may negatively impact the formation of the cognitive processes.

Also, an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex can decrease self-regulation during this stage of life and may be a reason a child is experiencing behavioral issues.
