Most of us grew up thinking that our doctors ALWAYS knew what was best for our health.

But we’re in the midst of a massive sea change when it comes to wellness.

More and more people are starting to wake up to the fact that modern medicine doesn’t have all the answers.

People are starting to take their health back into their own hands, and REAL medicines are beginning to emerge in the form of: healthy living, exercise, mindfulness and… drum roll please…

Wholesome, organic, consciously-created, plant-based FOOD!

For decades, people have written off medicinal food and simple kitchen remedies as being ineffective for anything serious… Well, we were WRONG.

The research is in and it looks like a natural helper for just about every disease (big and small) may exist in medicinal superfoods and healing herbs! We’re talking about cancer, Alzheimer’s, infertility, obesity, depression, auto-immune disorders - you name it.

And it’s all revealed in a stunning new documentary series, Healing Kitchen: Let Food be Thy Medicine. This 9-part exploration of the world’s most promising medicinal foods and how they can be used to prevent and heal disease is a must-see and it’s absolutely FREE!
Healing Kitchen is going to put the power of optimal health back into your hands. Each episode is beautifully filmed and jam-packed with potent recipes and ancient remedies that will turn your kitchen into a personal sanctuary of natural wellness.

The natural medicines that are used in these healing foods can’t be patented and therefore the big drug companies can’t make any money from selling them… which is why we’re not being told about them.

Sadly, “A pill for an ill” has become the mantra for modern medicine. Western doctors will never cite food as a possible solution to your ailments — even though it’s been saving human lives for thousands of years.

And it’s not entirely their fault — the system that educated them is designed to keep you sick (In other words - coming back for more expensive medications). In fact, the average doctor receives less than 1 DAY of nutritional education in medical school… Scary, huh?

Long story short, this food-based medicine revolution will not be televised. It’s up to you to empower yourself with the knowledge of these safe and effective natural alternatives.
Healing Kitchen's mission is to give you all the food-as-medicine tools that you will ever need. This is more than just a fascinating and educational docuseries. This information might very well save your life.

It’s time for us to take control of our health and truly thrive in this life. It all starts with you and I, sharing powerful resources like this series and spreading this natural healing knowledge to those we care about.

Join us for this revolutionary docuseries, Healing Kitchen: Let Food Be Thy Medicine, airing September 12-21.

To better health,

This NB takes boring ol’broccoli to a new level of NOM with a quick easy recipe.

You’ll also discover why this recipe is not only tasty, but has health benefits, too.

Broccoli is undeniably nutritious, but its strong taste and texture can be a deal-breaker for many, especially children.
However, with the right combination of flavors, you can transform this green powerhouse into a dish that's both delectable and brimming with health benefits.
I eat a LOT of broccoli since it’s easy to get frozen, is fast to cook and is super versatile.
Still, you can become bored with it quickly, unless you are creative!
Below is a recipe I use to give my boring old broccoli some “umami”. And it’s TASTY!
It uses: unfortified nutritional yeast, sesame oil, avocado oil, garlic salt, gluten-free soy sauce, and dried garlic pieces, all of which not only elevate the taste of broccoli but also offer their own unique health benefits.
1. Broccoli: This green vegetable is a member of the cruciferous family, which includes cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts.
Health benefits include:
- Rich in vitamins C, K, and A.
- High in dietary fiber, which supports digestive health.
-Contains compounds that may have anti-cancer properties, such as sulforaphane.
2. Unfortified Nutritional Yeast: Often used as a cheese substitute in vegan cooking, it's more than just a flavor enhancer.
Nutritional yeast is:
- A complete protein, meaning it provides all nine essential amino acids.
- High in B vitamins, though it's essential to note that unfortified versions won't contain added B12.
- Offers a cheesy, umami flavor without added dairy or gluten.
Why unfortified? I prefer to not have synthetic vitamins in my nooch. Our fave brand at VegHealth is Noochy-Licious.
Guaranteed high quality and taste! >>Check it out here.

[More about why unfortified is a better choice in our recent article]
3. Sesame Oil: Distinctly aromatic, this oil adds a rich, nutty flavor to dishes.
Health benefits include;
- High in antioxidants, which can help fight oxidative stress.
- Contains sesamol, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
- Source of healthy unsaturated fats.
4. Avocado Oil: Mild in flavor, this oil compliments the taste of other ingredients without overpowering them, adding a ‘buttery’ addition:
- Rich in monounsaturated fats, which are heart-healthy.
- High in lutein, an antioxidant beneficial for eye health.
- Excellent for cooking at high temperatures due to its high smoke point.
5. Garlic Salt: A blend of garlic and salt, it's a quick way to add a punch of flavor. And of course..
- Garlic can boost the immune system and is known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
- May help reduce blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels.
- Contains allicin, which has been linked to a range of health benefits.
6. Gluten-free Soy Sauce: Adds depth and umami without gluten. Plus…
- Contains antioxidant properties.
- Good source of some essential minerals, including manganese, phosphorus, and iron.
- Offers the savory depth of traditional soy sauce without triggering gluten sensitivities.
7. Dried Chopped Garlic: For those who adore garlic, dried garlic can amplify the flavor without the prep. Plus you get:
- Concentrated flavor means a little goes a long way.
- Retains many of the health benefits of fresh garlic, including its immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties.
Of course, fresh or even frozen garlic is good, too. I just like the crunch!

Bringing it All Together

By combining these ingredients, you're not just creating a dish that makes broccoli taste good; you're also ensuring that every bite is packed with health benefits.
Here's a simple recipe to get you started:
Note: This is very much a ‘to taste’ recipe. I just sprinkle as I go, so adjust according to what suits your palette.

Umami Broccoli Bowl

Ingredients:
2-3 cups broccoli
¼ cup unfortified nutritional yeast
2 TB sesame oil
1 TB avocado oil
1/2 TSP garlic salt
1-2 TB gluten free soy sauce
1 TSP dried garlic pieces
Proper Cooking Method:
1. Steam broccoli until just tender.
2. In a large pan, heat avocado oil and add the steamed broccoli.
3. Drizzle with sesame oil, gluten-free soy sauce, and sprinkle with garlic salt and dried garlic pieces.
4. Toss until well-coated and heated through.
5. Before serving, sprinkle generously with nutritional yeast for a cheesy finish.
Lazy-Gal’s Cooking Method:
  1. Cook the broccoli
  2. Sprinkle on the nooch and mix.
  3. Add the rest of your ingredients and mix well.
Ha, ha! That’s literally how I do it and it tastes great!

GMO%202_0%20Beyond%20Food_8_28_23.png

GMO 2.0 and the advent of gene editing go way beyond food. Anything with DNA is in play. So, we need a different approach this time around. Consumer decisions in the supermarket alone will not stop the release of GM grass, insects, trees, algae, bacteria, etc., which are facilitated by gene editing and other GMO 2.0 technologies. Protecting biological evolution from the onslaught of a massive number of new GMOs released into the environment requires responsible regulation.

Gene%20Editing%20Not%20Safe_8_28_23.png

Another paper (this one from Rice University) has been published, detailing unintended effects of CRISPR gene editing. The new review summarizes the many types of serious unintended on-target (at the intended edit site) DNA damage resulting from CRISPR/Cas gene editing.

The review appears as some governments maintain their pretense that gene editing is a precise, predictable, and controllable technique and that food plants made with this technology are therefore as safe as those produced by conventional breeding.

IRT created an animated video on this exact topic that should be required viewing for all government regulators. GO HERE to watch the short video clearly explaining why gene editing is dangerous and unpredictable. It’s a good video, laying out the science in an understandable way.

London-based molecular geneticist Prof Michael Antoniou sums up the problem, saying, “The mutations that the review flags up – large deletions and rearrangements at the intended on-target site – can only comprehensively be detected if the developer does ultra-deep, preferably long-read, whole genome sequencing. In the absence of this analysis, they will miss many of these genetic errors. We know they are not doing this, for the most part.”

Click Here for a full write up of the paper from our friends at GM Watch.

3 Natural Ways to Prevent Fatty Liver Disease

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most frequent chronic liver disease worldwide, affecting people who drink little to no alcohol. Yet, there is a lot of unawareness.

NAFLD is a serious condition, and it’s important to determine if you could be at risk. It’s a condition where too much fat is stored in the liver cells, and is often caused by a combination of eating more calories than the body needs and leading a sedentary lifestyle.

Special: Coronary Heart Disease: 5 Tips to Reduce Your Risk

Prevention can go a long way to avoiding NAFLD. Three ways to increase your odds of bypassing it are:

Coffee. Studies show that people who drink three or more cups of coffee a day are less likely to develop this disease.

Vitamin E. Taking 800 IU of vitamin E is not helpful short-term but may have a protective effect over time.

Wine. People with alcohol fatty liver disease must not drink at all, of course. But regarding NAFLD, one study showed that a small glass of wine each day cut the risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in half. The same did not hold true for beer or other types of alcohol.

From the civilizations of ancient Egypt, China, and India all the way to the Mayan and Aztec empires, there was one simple truth that was shared by all… food is medicine.

We have always known this.

Our relationship to food is one of the most sacred and intimate relationships we’re capable of, from sowing seeds in the Earth to merging with a plant’s energy through consumption.

Food has the power to change our mood, bring people together, and it has the power to heal.

You may have heard the saying, “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine thy food.” These words were spoken two thousand years ago by the celebrated Greek Physician, Hippocrates - commonly hailed as the father of modern medicine. He knew that the right foods combined with specific medicinal herbs were a recipe for a long and healthy life…

But somewhere along the way, we seem to have forgotten this simple truth.

We started mass-producing food with impersonal machines and artificial ingredients.

We told ourselves that the busyness of modern life required this “convenience.”

We went so far as to even dye our foods so that they would appear as though they were just as fresh and vital as they had been before our industrial practices and pesticides stripped away all their nutrients.

Sadly, it’s no surprise that people who consume foods that not only lack nutritional value but also contain carcinogenic and other harmful ingredients – are winding up sick and even worse.

Because, just as the ancients knew – and as modern science finally demonstrates – the key to good health is… nutrient-dense, mineral-rich, fully intact, consciously-created food.

If you want to be healthy and vital, you need to consume food that possesses these same qualities—and not just when you’re sick. It’s time for us to remember and embody this ancient truth, and to revive both ourselves and our kitchens.

That’s why I’m so excited to share a remarkable new docuseries that is premiering in just a couple of weeks...

"Glyphosate does not wash off of food. It is a systemic herbicide absorbed and transported through the plant. Then we eat it." -Kelly Ryerson
"Glyphosate Girl" Kelly Ryerson is an environmental health writer, filmmaker, public health advocate, and founder of GlyphosateFacts.com.
After healing her own chronic health issues with a gluten-free and organic diet, Kelly discovered that agrotoxins (like glyphosate in Roundup) are contributors to many chronic diseases in the U.S.
Kelly's mission is to educate the public on how our food system, soil, and the health of millions of humans have been affected by the use of toxic pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides.
In our new interview, Kelly and I discuss how glyphosate, atrazine, and GMOs damage our bodies and simple ways you can reduce your exposure and protect yourself from their harmful effects.
I'm thankful for the work that Kelly is doing to bring awareness to the harms of agrotoxins to the public and her mission to influence farmers, food producers and policy-makers to clean up our food system. Enjoy!
Enjoy this interview!

On August 29, ICAN’s attorneys, led by ICAN’s lead counsel Aaron Siri, received the welcome news that the judge in their Mississippi lawsuit converted the previously-issued preliminary injunction regarding religious exemptions into a permanent injunction! This means that families in Mississippi can take a deep breath and rest assured that they will continue to have the option of requesting a religious exemption for vaccination for their children to attend school.
Mississippi has already started accepting requests for religious exemptions and instructions for the process are now posted on the State Department of Health website.
ICAN secured this historic and critical win back in April and we have heard from families in Mississippi—and across the nation—who are overjoyed to see religious freedom upheld as a First Amendment right.
As the Court’s thorough and extremely well-reasoned Opinion explained, Mississippi law violated the First Amendment because it provided a process for parents to obtain secular medical exemptions, but not religious exemptions, to mandated school vaccines. It therefore unconstitutionally favored similar secular conduct (medical exemptions) over religious conduct (religious exemptions).
This game-changing win has laid the groundwork for future challenges in the five other states that similarly allow medical but not religious exemptions to school-mandated vaccines. ICAN intends to support every one of those challenges brought by its legal team in our ongoing work to restore the rights of every parent in this country.
Congratulations Mississippi! And thank you to all our supporters that made this work and win possible. To support our future efforts, please click here to donate!
See below for more of ICAN’s work protecting your right to opt-out of vaccines:

Protecting Your Eyes as You Age

By Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Mike Roizen, MDs

In 2012, actress Dame Judi Dench told the press that her eyesight was failing, and she was unable to read her scripts. The solution? Her daughter and her agent would help her learn lines.

Now in her late 80s, Dame Judi had been diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a common eye disorder that can cause blindness.

Special: The Little-Known 'Blue' Challenge to Your Aging Eyes

By 2050, it’s estimated that nearly 22 million older Americans will have to contend with some form of this condition.

But AMD isn’t the only vision problem that can develop as you get older. The most common are glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts.

More than 6 million Americans over age 65 have some type of vision problem. That’s why it’s important to take steps at every age to protect your eyes. Here are a few good ones:

• Eat eye-friendly foods that are rich in nutrients such as beta carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, omega-3 fatty acids, and zinc. That means plenty of orange vegetables such as sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash, as well as cooked tomatoes. Choose dark leafy greens, berries, nuts and seeds, brown rice, and citrus, which also are high in vitamins A, C, D, and E. And enjoy fatty fish like ocean trout and salmon.

• Quit smoking or never start. It’s linked to an increased risk of AMD, cataracts, and optic nerve damage.

• Use sunglasses. Find ones that block out 99%-100% of UVA and UVB radiation.

• Don’t do digital damage. Break up computer and screen time. Try the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds.

a fault many people dont realise is, if you are going by your pee colour to decide if you are dehydrated, just remember the colour in your toilet bowl is not correct as the pee will appear lighter than it really is due to it being diluted with the existing water in the bowl. it really does make a difference.

due to my recent treatment i was amazed at what we dont realise. in australia the cost of foetal blood has risen to $636.00/litre!! foetal blood is used with cancer treatments as it is the closest to our blood plus it has cells that are rich in certain vitamins that only foetal blood has. the sacs from pregnant bovines have risen 300% in 12 months, again they are used in cancer treatments. not many people would have any idea what monetary value a dead cow produces from hoof tail and especially eyes. it is sadly, a very profitable animal to meat workers, no vegans i am only mentioning something i am not promoting it and i dont/will not get into debates over it.

• Quit smoking or never start. It’s linked to an increased risk of AMD, cataracts, and optic nerve damage.

• Use sunglasses. Find ones that block out 99%-100% of UVA and UVB radiation.

• Don’t do digital damage. Break up computer and screen time. Try the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds.
we are all told by experts that in order to grow healthy foot we need to buy this and that to improve our soil, then the craze oh healthy food protein bars drinks bio degradable everything, look at the prices of all these wonderful things as an example yesterday in super market bin liners $2.20 for 50. new liners that contain none of this and that $7.60 for 50. food where they take out fats .chemicals etsc they use less ingredients but cost 300% more? is this not proof that tribes in jungles are smarter than we are? they can grow without adding wonder junk, can make their own sunscreen but modern man think they are dumb cause they paint their faces, dont wear levis but hey they dont get cancer? we are the stupid ones as we listen to experts preaching to us from their million dollar houses. i wish i was as clever as a tribesman!

German study finds that face masks can cause carbon dioxide poisoning when worn even for short periods, and may have contributed significantly to stillbirths when worn by pregnant women, as well as testicular dysfunction and cognitive decline in children, among other destructive health issues.

And (my edit to add), the masks do nothing to keep the "new world odor" from coming thru 💩

I hate that nutrition labels (specifically in the US) are so hard for people to read.
Some of the info is just bad.
But because it's on the label, you assume that it is important.
And as a result, you might decide to avoid something because of this bad information.
Well, that’s the problem I have with the entire column labeled Daily Value %.
If you're not sure what this is -- it's commonly the number that has probably made you think at one point or another that a product or supplement has WAY TOO much of a certain nutrient in it.
You know... like 2333% of Vitamin B12, or something like that.
I want to be straight with you -- the Daily Value % (%DV) is misleading + total garbage.
Since these values are so confusing to people in general as well as my community, I figured it was time to set the record straight.

Watch the full VIDEO version (which has helpful graphics to explain what I mean)!

Hello Jimi,

In recent years, wildfires in the U.S. have grown larger and more intense. These powerful blazes are capable of generating smoke that travels hundreds of miles. We often deal with this here in Northern California, but in recent years, smoke from Western wildfires has made it across the country.

Persistent smoke pollution has become a new public health threat and is something that has affected our patients and us.

There are the implications of particulate matter, and the environmental toxicants that can lodge in our bodies and set off inflammatory pathways that have system wide effects.

We are all on a learning curve to keep ourselves and our families safe. People with mast cell activation and other chronic inflammatory conditions need to be especially careful during periods of exposure to wildfire smoke.

Last year we presented a webinar on How to Protect & Support Yourself during Wildfire Season. There was so much valuable information shared that we wanted to send the replay video out to you to refresh your memory on all the ways to support your system as we enter into another fire season.

We reviewed how to address and manage symptoms of acute exposure in the moment, including lung irritation, eye irritation, and sinus irritation.

We also covered:
  • How acute symptoms can become chronic
  • Symptoms we see in our patients who have had prolonged exposure including brain fog, lung weakness, sinusitis, and more
  • The trends we are seeing including higher heavy metal loads
  • The order of treatment necessary to bring down the symptoms

Below are a few additional resources for support from environmental toxins:

Our friend and colleague, Dr. Lyn Patrick will be hosting a free webinar with Dr. Anne Marie Fine, NMD, FAAEM on September 11th at 5 pm PT to discuss the relationship of chemical exposures, like those of East Palestine, to health and disease. Doctors are now able to use what is known about the exposures of first responders at the 9/11 site in NYC and what interventions have actually helped those sick first responders, to treat new exposures more effectively.

Register here (even if you cannot join live you will need to register to receive the replay)

Hi Jim,
Did you know a silent epidemic is sweeping across our nation? A staggering 10 million Americans are quietly battling hypothyroidism - an unsung health crisis that stealthily progresses for years before sounding its alarm.
It's easy to dismiss those initial signs - a touch of fatigue here, some unexpected weight gain there. But once these symptoms snowball, they could hijack your everyday joy, leaving you scrambling to regain control.
Imagine if we told you that 1 in 8 women will face off against hypothyroidism during their lifetime. Or that individuals aged 60 and above are specially marked targets for this sneaky ailment. That's a big reason why we need to stay one step ahead with early detection.
Immerse yourself in our latest eye-opening article where we dissect the causes, symptoms, and treatments of hypothyroidism. Get armed with knowledge and power to reclaim your health:
Staggeringly, a study in the revered Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism unmasked a chilling link. Approximately 60% of hypothyroidism warriors also combat depression's shadow, while 63% grapple with the storm of anxiety. This grim intersection only amplifies the urgency of identifying hypothyroidism's subtle tell-tale signs.
Although a magic bullet cure eludes us at present, there is a cornucopia of effective treatment strategies to help restore balance to your thyroid levels.
Remember, knowledge is power, but action seals the deal. To confirm if you're grappling with hypothyroidism, get your hands on a medical evaluation and a blood test. In the meantime, nourish your body with a symphony of whole grains, lean proteins, vibrant fruits, and vegetables. And remember to gift yourself the restful sleep you deserve each night.
