Don’t Skip Aspirin After Heart Attack

If you've had a heart attack, your doctor likely told you to take a low-dose aspirin daily to stave off a second heart attack or stroke, but many people don't follow through with this advice over the long-term.

And they are more likely to have another heart attack, stroke, or die, compared with their counterparts who consistently take aspirin, according to a recent study.

Aspirin keeps platelets from clumping together, which can help prevent or reduce the blood clots that can cause heart attacks and strokes. The study, led by Dr. Anna Meta Kristensen of Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital in Denmark, followed more than 40,100 people aged 40 or older who had a first-time heart attack between 2004 and 2017.

High Magnesium Intake Protects Your Heart

Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., writes:


Scientists studied magnesium intake along with standard care of treatment in relation to cardiovascular disease and all-cause and coronary heart disease mortality for subjects who had a heart attack less than 10 years before. The study included 4,365 Dutch subjects ages 60 to 80. Magnesium intake was ascertained via a food frequency questionnaire.

Only 28% of the male and 33% of the female patients had adequate magnesium intake. Compared to those with the lowest intake, higher magnesium intake was associated with a 28% lower risk of cardiovascular disease mortality.

Special: More Than 50% of Older Americans Fail to Get Enough Magnesium

For those who took a diuretic medication (drugs that help kidneys excrete urine) there was a 45% lower risk of mortality with higher amounts of magnesium.

Magnesium is essential for the heart, and lowers the risk for cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality from heart conditions. Studies have also shown inverse associations between magnesium and the risk of hypertension, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

I’ve been checking patients’ magnesium levels for three decades, and over that time levels have been consistently falling. Low magnesium predisposes a person to muscle cramps, aches and pains, and arrhythmias. Conversely, treating patients with magnesium helps all these conditions.

Foods high in magnesium include sunflowers, soybeans, cocoa beans, almonds, Brazil nuts, pine nuts, spearmint, basil, spinach, and flax seeds.

Magnesium is also safe as a supplement; diarrhea is the only adverse effect, which is easily managed by lowering the dose.

Your unnoticed habits shape your confidence and choices

HBOT Reverses Human Aging
A breakthrough study from a team of Israel’s top scientists proves – for the first time ever in humans – that it is not only possible to stop your body’s biological clock in its tracks…
But to reverse aging at the cellular level by 25 years…
Using nothing more than high-pressure oxygen!
This could be a complete game-changer.
After administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to a group of older adults, the Israeli researchers were able to reverse two key biological hallmarks of aging:
  1. Telomere shortening
  2. And the accumulation of old and malfunctioning cells in the body.
HBOT therapy can be used to neutralize some of the most devastating chronic diseases… like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, brain injury from stroke, dementia, Alzheimer’s, autoimmune diseases, Parkinson’s, depression, and more.
The biological deterioration of aging is a major risk factor for these diseases. But it doesn’t need to be.
In the study, the researchers followed 35 adults aged 64 and older for 90 days. None of the volunteers made any diet, lifestyle, or medication changes during the trial. Blood samples were collected throughout the study.
After 60 HBOT sessions, the scientists discovered that the:
  • Number and percentage of dying or senescent T cells decreased by almost 40%.
  • Telomere length of T cells, Natural Killer cells and B cells grew longer instead of shorter, at a rate of 20 to 38% depending on the cell type. The most significant change was in the telomere length of B cells, which increased over 50%. The B cell is one of the most important cells in your body since they form a big part of your adaptive immune response.
Telomeres are one of the biggest medical breakthroughs of the past one hundred years. They are the little caps on the end of each strand of your DNA that controls how your cells age.
Longer telomeres mean better health. Shorter telomeres signal premature aging.
Telomere lengthening is what prevents disease and heals the body…
And, as this study now proves – reverses aging!​

Every hesitation becomes a pattern, and those patterns determine how much abundance you allow into your life.

Let’s fix those now by rebuilding your self-respect, so you can step into greater wealth, create real freedom, and experience lasting abundance with a deep sense of confidence and security.

Your words are the first step.
The way you talk to yourself sets the tone for how you let others treat you. Replace “I don’t know if I can” with “I am capable and ready.” This influences not only how you feel but also how you show up in conversations, decisions, and opportunities.

Set personal boundaries.
When you overextend yourself or constantly say yes, you send a message that your needs don’t matter. Self-respect means honoring your energy, setting limits, and recognizing that your time is valuable.

Be sure of yourself.
It's not just something you feel inside. People listen when you are clear, set your terms, and stick to them. People respect that calm authoritative yet grounded presence, and wealth tends to follow.

Get back in touch with your goals.
Low self-respect and esteem can make your goals seem far away or even unimportant. You lose sight of them. But as you realize your worth again, they become clearer more than ever. You know what you really want, whether it’s building meaningful work, enjoying healthier relationships, or creating balance in your life.

Be proud of your successes.
Take a moment to stop every time you respect your worth, whether by setting a boundary, speaking up, or following through on a goal. Recognize it. They teach your mind that you should always respect yourself. And from that place, the bigger breakthroughs happen with less trouble.

As you practice these habits, changes ripple outward:

  • You notice opportunities that once felt intimidating now feel possible.
  • Your relationships grow healthier and more balanced because your standards have risen.
  • You make decisions with greater clarity, less doubt, and more ease.
  • You begin to feel a steady confidence that touches every area of your life.
Self-respect becomes the foundation you build everything else on. Your sense of worth expands. You get new ideas. You take braver steps.

Dr. Small: Anxiety Often Misdiagnosed in Older Adults

Nearly 20% of adults in the U.S. have an anxiety disorder, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Anxiety can affect people of all ages, but in adults age 65 and older, anxiety is often mistaken for physical problems, making diagnosis more challenging.

Dr. Gary Small, a brain health expert and chair of psychiatry at the Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, said that anxiety in older adults is frequently misdiagnosed because its symptoms can mimic other conditions. "People often assume that anxiety disorders are purely mental problems," he said.

"Although anxious older adults worry, they're irritable, they experience fear, anxiety disorders also present with heart palpitations, chronic aches and pains, trouble sleeping, and poor appetite. And that's why the diagnosis is often mistaken for a physical illness," Small shared with Newsmax's "National Report."

Anxiety can also worsen memory issues in older adults, and new research shows that treating anxiety earlier in life may reduce dementia risk later on.

Small emphasized that while everyone experiences stress at times, chronic anxiety is different. "Certainly we all have our ups and downs in life, but severe chronic anxiety is debilitating," he said. "Yet there are effective treatments available. Anti-anxiety medicines, antidepressants, and psychotherapy have all been shown to be very effective."

He noted that new innovative treatments are also being studied. "The gut microbiome — the billions of bacteria and other organisms living in our digestive tracts — produce neurotransmitters that affect anxiety," he said. "There are ongoing studies of probiotics, prebiotics, and dietary interventions targeting the gut microbiome."

Can you really fight pain and win?​

For a while, it might seem possible. You gather every tool you can find and aim directly at the pain, determined to overcome it.

But eventually, something shifts. The pain stops responding to all that effort, to all that force.

When I first began this work, my focus was on helping people living with cancer navigate the physical and emotional challenges of their diagnosis. Through that experience, I began to notice something even larger at play.

The more people I met, the more I realized that pain, both physical and emotional, was something nearly everyone was carrying.

What I saw in people’s lives, research has confirmed again and again. A global review of more than 370 studies found that nearly four in ten people living with chronic pain experience clinical levels of depression or anxiety.

And in large U.S. population studies, those living with both pain and mental health symptoms are far more likely to struggle with energy, movement, and connection in daily life.

The brain and body are doing their best to protect us, but end up keeping us caught in a loop of tension and alertness.

Seeing these pieces stack up, my view of dealing with pain changed.

Pain isn’t a failure of the body. It’s a message. A sign that the system has learned to stay in defense mode, and it can be taught how to return to balance.

This led me to create The Root Cause of Chronic Pain as a guide that helps explain what this all means in practice as part of our upcoming mastercourse, The Happiness Method.
