Microplastics Linked to Health Risks

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

High blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke rates are higher in coastal or lakefront areas with greater concentrations of microplastics in the environment, researchers reported. The results suggest a dose-response relationship in which higher concentrations of microplastics pollution are associated with more chronic disease.

Microplastics are tiny particles that can come from food and beverage packaging, consumer products, and building materials. People can be exposed to microplastics in the water they drink, the food they eat, and the air they breathe.

Special: 4 Warning Signs Your Heart May Be Failing — Do You Know Them?

For this study, researchers linked Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data on chronic illness rates with federal data on microplastics concentrations in the sediment along coastal and lakeshore areas in 555 census tracts. Microplastics ranked among the top risk factors associated with chronic illness.

“The environment plays a very important role in our health, especially cardiovascular health,” said lead investigator Sai Rahul Ponnana, a scientist at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland. “As a result, taking care of our environment means taking care of ourselves.”

Most people assume a magnet not sticking means nothing. It's telling you what the pan is made of.

Test 2: The scratch test

Run your fingernail lightly across the surface of any non-stick pan.

You're looking for scratches, flaking, or peeling.

Here's the part that matters: even tiny imperfections let PFAS into your food while you cook. Not just heavily damaged pans. Any break in that coating.

If your non-stick pan is scratched even slightly, it's done. Toss it.

Test 3: The acid test

This one takes 20 minutes and it's the most revealing.

Simmer tomato sauce, or any acidic food, in the pan for about 20 minutes. Pour it into a bowl. Taste it, then look at the pan.

Metallic or bitter taste means metal is leaching into your food.

Discoloration in the pan means surface corrosion or a chemical reaction.

Run this one on aluminum, unlined copper, or any pan where you don't actually know what metal you're cooking on.

So what do you do with the results?

Pass all 3? Keep cooking. You're fine.

Fail one? Replace that piece. You don't have to gut your entire kitchen this week. Start with whatever failed, then work through the rest over time.

When you replace something, look for stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, or true ceramic (not ceramic-coated, which is a different thing entirely).

Hi Jimi,

If you’ve ever faced cancer, you know the diagnosis is only one part of what you’re dealing with.

There’s also the fear. The waiting. The scans. The doctor calls. The uncertainty. The stress on your relationships.

And sometimes that feeling that your nervous system never gets to fully relax.

We spend so much time talking about what to do physically, and of course that matters.

But who’s taking care of the person going through all of it?

On September 15th at 5 PM Eastern, I’m teaching a free live webinar called The Missing Link to Healing:

What’s REALLY Standing Between You and the Health You Want?

I’m going to share an important part of the healing journey that often gets overlooked, and what I’ve learned after more than 20 years studying health, healing and human transformation.

If you’re navigating cancer or another chronic health challenge, or supporting someone who is, I’d love for you to join me.

If you've been dealing with any of these:

  • Unexplained bloating

  • Persistent fatigue

  • Intense brain fog

  • Sudden irritability

  • Random skin flares or histamine reactions

  • Disrupted sleep

  • Intense sugar and carb cravings

…you may be dealing with parasites.

They're far more common than most people think.

The CDC estimates over 60 million Americans are chronically infected with Toxoplasma gondii alone…

Which is just one of hundreds of species that can quietly take hold without you knowing.

Once inside, they steal your nutrients…

Dump toxins into your system…

And hide behind biofilms that standard tests often miss.

That's why so many people chase symptoms for years while the real cause stays hidden.

Researchers are also increasingly linking parasitic infections to complex, chronic conditions.

That's why Sinclair Kennally, certified nutritionist and founder of Detox Nation, is hosting a no-cost 3-day live event called:

Parasite Immersion: Hidden in Plain Sight

It runs September 14 to 17 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET.

Over 3 days, you'll learn:

  • Why standard stool tests only catch around 20% of parasites

  • How parasites hijack your nervous system and create anxiety for no apparent reason

  • Her exact eviction blueprint: prep, drain, kill, bind, and repair

If you've been experiencing any of the symptoms listed above…

Or you just feel like something just isn't quite right in your body…

Then I'd really encourage you to sign up.

=> Register here for the 3-Day Parasite Immersion and discover the best ways to flush these invaders from your system

To your health,

Did you know that Pfizer researchers documented something remarkable back in 1996.

A natural neuronutrient appeared to stimulate NGF — a protein involved in maintaining the neural connections your memory depends on.
So why didn't it become the next blockbuster memory drug?
According to the presentation below, the answer may come down to something painfully simple:
It couldn't be patented.

Hi there Jimi,

A concussion or brain injury from years ago may still be driving chronic illness today, and most patients have never been told. In the latest episode of the Gordon Medical Forum podcast, Dr. Eric Gordon talks with board-certified neurosurgeon Dr. Chad Prusmack about how unresolved brain trauma, vestibular dysfunction, and dysautonomia underlie some of the most complex, treatment-resistant cases in chronic illness.

They cover how a misaligned neck can disrupt the entire autonomic nervous system, how peptides restore mitochondrial and endocrine function once the foundation is stable, and why the "hardware" and "software" of recovery must be addressed together, in the right order.
Episode Highlights:
  • Why loss of cervical lordosis on a normal-looking MRI is a key (and often overlooked) sign of vestibulocervical dysregulation
  • How vestibular dysfunction forces the brain to remap around a slower visual system, causing brain fog, anxiety, and dysautonomia
  • Why dysautonomia must be treated before rehab can succeed
  • The peptides Dr. Prusmack uses for mitochondrial support and when he uses them

Inhaled Microplastics Linked to Lung Cancer

People with lung cancer are more likely to have hidden deposits of microplastics in their lungs, a new study says. About 66% of lung cancer patients had detectable microplastics found in fluid samples taken from their lungs, compared to 46% of people without lung cancer, researchers reported at a meeting of the European Respiratory Society in Barcelona, Spain. Lung cancer patients also were twice as likely to have heavier loads of microplastics in their lungs, researchers said. Read More Here

Hi Jimi,

A cavity starts when your mouth chemistry flips from repair mode to breakdown mode.

So while your teeth may look "fine," your enamel is already weakening.

Then one routine visit turns into a filling or a treatment plan you were not financially or emotionally prepared to receive.

But the real problem? Most dental visits focus on cleaning the teeth — not fixing the mouth environment that allowed decay to happen in the first place.

Thankfully, solutions are available and now revealed in this NEW eBook:
👉 7 Ways to Stop Cavities and Reverse Tooth Decay

This gift eBook was created by yours truly, Jonathan Landsman - host of my brand NEW program: The Dental Health Docu-Class.

Inside this gift eBook, you’ll discover:
● The saliva “repair switch” that helps enamel harden before decay digs deeper
● Why your mouth’s pH can turn every bite into tooth support or tooth damage
● The protective bacteria your teeth rely on, and the everyday habits that crowd them out
● The questions to ask before you agree to another filling, crown, or root canal

And as a special bonus you’ll also receive free access to the Dental Health Docu-Class, starting Tue. Sept. 29 for a limited time.

This program will dive much deeper than my previous program on oral health into how to properly detect and deal with hidden infections, root canal-treated teeth, crowns, bridges, dentures and oral surgery solutions you've never heard before.

Enjoy the gifts,

Could parasites be the hidden reason you still don’t feel like yourself?

You've got poor digestion, low energy, skin issues, horrible sleep, mood swings, food cravings, and a range of seemingly unrelated symptoms.

Or maybe you're bloated, gassy, constipated, itchy, have brain fog, anxiety, allergies and histamine problems, or grind your teeth at night.

Parasites could be behind them all.

These sneaky critters are like unwanted squatters, moving in quietly, eating your food, and leaving trash behind, without anyone knowing they are there.

Finding them isn't simple either, as they are experts at avoiding detection.

But just like getting a squatter out of your home, the best way to get rid of parasites is to make your body a living hell for them.

You don't need to kill them, which not only is incredibly hard to do, and makes you suffer from horrible die-off symptoms.

Instead, if you make their life unpleasant, they just move out on their own.

Parasites: Hidden in Plain Sight is a 3-day immersion event to help you.

Day 1 will teach you how to spot the signs that parasites leave behind, including the obvious and the not so easy to notice symptoms they cause.

Day 2 will explain why parasites are so easy to miss, hiding behind biofilms, evading standard testing, and overlapping symptoms with other conditions.

Day 3 will show you how to make your body a terrible place for them to live, yet great for your own body, and will make them flee without any symptoms.

You'll also learn why this method is the smartest way to get them out, because the cleanses can overwhelm an already-stressed system.

Early registrations for Parasites: Hidden in Plain Sight are now open.

Give Farmers Back Their Right to Save Seeds

Seeds used to be a shared resource, free for anyone to save, grow or share.

Now they’re one of the most expensive things farmers have to buy. Up to a quarter of farmers’ annual input costs go to BASF, Bayer, ChemChina, and Corteva.
Seed saving used to be the right of every farmer.
Now it’s illegal—if the seed is patented, as over 90% of commercial field crops in the US are. In 2025, Missouri farmer Caleb Duffy was ordered to pay Bayer-Monsanto $549,500 for violating the company’s patent rights when he used seeds he had saved from his harvested crops for replanting.
TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to pass an improved Fair Seeds for Farmers Act to restore farmers’ rights to save, breed, and replant seeds!

NEW STUDY

Intensive Farming May Yield a Bumper Crop of Drug-Resistant Pathogens

Douglas Fox, Anthropocene:

“When people imagine the front line of antibiotic resistance, they may see a hospital where antibiotics are overprescribed, or a feed lot where cattle are pumped full of these drugs. They probably won’t picture a cornfield. But a new study suggests that crop fields may be an important battleground for fighting antibiotic resistance. And the way we farm will decide who wins.
The new study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that high-intensity farming, typical of the U.S. Corn Belt, produced soil microbiomes that were more likely to transmit antibiotic-resistant pathogens to humans, compared to lower-intensity farming methods. In other words, modern farming may contribute to drug-resistant infections, which kill up to 4.7 million people per year, worldwide.”
Soil and crop management practices could be strategically leveraged to limit the onward spread of drug-resistant pathogens.

NEW RESEARCH

Farmed Salmon May Not Be as Nutritious as It Once Was, New Research Suggests

by Georgina Gustin, Inside Climate News:

“Eat more fatty fish.
That dietary advice has changed the way the world consumes salmon, pushing consumer demand ever upward and production to higher and higher levels. Most of that demand is being met with farmed salmon: Today, nearly 70 percent of the salmon consumed on the planet are raised in pens and cages.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend eating at least 8 ounces of fish a week, and urges people to choose salmon or other species that are similarly high in ‘heart-healthy’ Omega-3 fatty acids. But new research led by USDA scientists finds that levels of these fatty acids in farmed salmon have dropped considerably.”
The reason for the decline of the Omega-3s, is a major shift in the diets of the naturally carnivorous salmon, from smaller fish species to a mix that includes land-based oils and crops, including soy and canola.

When Plastic Companies Write the Lesson Plans

Joseph Winters, Grist:

“This fall, 54 million K-12 students are headed back to the classroom for another year of lessons in all the classic subjects: math, English, history, biology. But there’s another subject that’s been sneaking into school curricula: plastics.
A new report from the nonprofit Plastic Pollution Coalition documents the many ways the plastics industry has been inserting its agenda into classrooms across the U.S. — including through lesson plans and worksheets, hands-on science experiments, and a program called ‘PlastiVan’ that travels from city to city teaching students about ‘the contribution plastics make to modern life.
Industry interests offer these resources to teachers for free or for cheap, according to the report.”
The materials tend to highlight the necessity of plastics while downplaying their significant downsides to human health and the environment.
