I'm using a acrylic cherryvapes cloudchaser. Get fantastic flavor with it. The new one will get a delrin cloudchaser

I haven't touched a prefab coil tank since I got my first Griffin. It's been that and the Tugboat v3 for almost a month
That's good to hear! As much as I like the TFV4 I hated to buy those expensive replacement coils.. I heard about the Griffin from you guys and glad I got one! (black)..I ordered #2 in stainless yesterday..will probly park the TFV4, lol

Yeah it's a chucker, it's a competition RTA, the wide drip tip lessens the flavor IMO, I'm using the 510, flavor is more intense IMO...

That was my question too, looks like naked batteries but I'm sure they aren't.

I literally just brought and did a build on this tank. Exquisite tank. I didn't understand how some reviewers vape at 30 to 40 watts. It vapes excellent at this range. I did dual 26 gauge 8 wraps with kanthal at 3.5mm vertically. It's reading at .6 ohms. Love this tank.

I got other tips but how do I install the 510 adapter in the box??

Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Its the Round black thick disc, you put your drippy tip in the hole (Pun needed) and then put the disk into the top cap.

Yea its purty tight in there because the Orings are dry....Im pissed! The Mutation X4 tip is a millimeter too big to fit, that would be a great tip on the tank...The Griffin tip fits on the MX4 though...

Don't sleep on that wicking method. I don't use that much cotton, but the flavor and vapor are amazing.
You say that but you only have dealt with the way you build....Its different for every style of vaping and thats why there isnt a end all perfect method...besides mine. If you build smaller coils or normal micro coils/parallels, then yes the juice ports are open and exaggerated for that so wicking wont have to be perfect. For larger more thirsty builds you will need to brush that bitches hair to perfection before she gives up that juice :D

Edit: I see you were looking at my Vertical Coil post...That was directed to someone else about making dual coils and how to wick them...I havent done it as I find them wasteful unless its in a RDA.

20160127_232718.jpg 20160127_232712.jpg 20160127_232718.jpg So my Griffin arrived. Woo!

No problems so far. Wicking seems fine, he drinks juice though but that's fine!

Still not quite achieving the flavour that I was expecting BUT I haven't had a real chance to tinker with it.

Plus, I also complained about getting no flavour from the Aromamizer so if I'm having the same problem with both tanks then the issue must be my sub par builds, or my shitty liquids, not the tank itself.

I'll keep tinkering and post my thoughts.

Here's some pics of my build.

I'm on a dual coil 26awg twisted kanthal 9 wraps.

Try the 510, drip tip was too big, I was having a hard time getting the flavor.... Not anymore..

Remember guys if your not getting the flavor like experience from a RDA you need to consider your build size in the chamber. The chamber is massive compared to other tanks and for good reason, its made for large coils that take up alot of space. With more space used up the more intense the flavor will be. Using a thinner bore tip will also concentrate the vapor and make it more flavorful also.

The 510 drip tip adaptor didn't arrive in the box with the Griffin!

It sucks.

Just chucked in some diy hazelnut espresso liquids. It's pretty fucking delicious. I have a day off work tomorrow (at last!!!) so I'm gonna have a mega tinkering day, I'll post some more build pics etc

Anything else you can suggest to try on my day off would be wicked, you seem to be quite the pro on the Griffin, actually you seem the pro on most things vape related! =D

Its in there somewhere, I thought the same thing when I got mine. Try some Claptons/Fused Claptons if your capable of making them, they seem to provide the best experience, atleast for me. good setup would be 2x26g/34 or 36g(If you have higher gauges then that go as high as you can). Make 5 Wrap/3.5mm ID Coils, and start it around 80w and go up from there.

Using thinner outer wrap also for no ramp up time but it allows the juice to be held and absorbed just like a normal clapton/Fused Clapton. The Thinner the outerwrap is the faster it ramps up and when you get into the 46g+ range there isnt a ramp up time, but no loss of flavor, nor wicking capabilities of the coil itself.

I only dabble in vaping, I specialize in Software/Tech and Firearms. My wife says Im good at everything I try, its only because I put all my time into learning everything about what I am doing and then I try it out. I test, compare and gather outside results and take notes on what works and what doesn't, this is a good system for learning and then doing anything you want to.

I've actually got a roll of premade clapton wire here. I think it's 26/32 kanthal. I'll chuck some in tomorrow and put some more pics up.

Ahh sweet. Sounds like you have one of those brains that's pretty systematic and organised. I'm kinda all over the place. I need to grab a little notebook and just take notes of what I've tried and what does or doesn't work for me, I just keep putting random ass coils in there and hoping for the best, y'know lol

Thanks again for your help, man. Appreciate the time you put into it!

One last thing, this may seem obvious but I just want to clarify...

If I out coils in with a larger ID that means more surface area in contact with juice and should mean more vapour and more flavour as a result, yeah? Then watts need to go higher to be able to heat and power the increased metal in the build...?

Finally had to drive that stock tip out, installed the adapter and my 510 tip..but while I had the top cap off juice leaked all over my mod..wowzers! Cleaned it up refilled and learned for now on to close those juice holes before even refilling..learning alot today, the hard way! lololol

What is the best way to set-up that ring so all four juice inlets are open the same? I keep finding like three are open and one almost closed.. Where do set that ring? All the way up and rotate the tank for adjustment??

Open the Juice control when your finished so that you see the shiny round cup curve on all four points, I untwist 2 full twists to move the ring up 3 turns. That should be good enough to soak any build, and tighten it down from here for smaller builds.

Im 100% sure it fits...as long as the coils are atleast under 2mm past the JC ring the coils will fit, snug but it will fit.

Mine are longer and about 2mm in OD smaller and I still have 4-5mm around them from the Chamber...

I see this tank concept evolving. Push the twin tower posts very close together. Double wide the air hole. Shrink the mm width of the inner working base for higher total juice capability. Chuff the whole thing straight up a purely vertical 12mm chimney. Peek it out and run on the series box. 10 ml+ juice capacity on a 22 mm atty. Just blow everything straight up wide through the center. Stare at pictures of the Griffin and you'll start to see it.

Tell you what, I can wrap clapton or fused clapton wire around a screwdriver and install it on a deck and go "mmm, this is awesome," but I didn't really do very much. If I created the wire itself, I'd show it off - only thing I can do successfully is twist wire together properly, and no one cares about that anymore - things have moved on to much bigger, better and more complex wire styles.

It'd be like me being on a food forum and posting a picture of some boxed Mac and Cheese that I frenched up with some cream cheese and bacon bits. Yeah, it's yum, but I didn't do anything other than... well, make stuff out of a box.

That all being said, I'm itching to try my hand at clapton wire again, so you very well may see me there sometime in the ... future. Next year maybe, at the rate I'm going :p

edit: that's not to say that simple twisted wire isn't cool or talented - it is, but we're talking the difference between... say, whipping out a store-made hotdog in a thread about filling your own sausages. To, y'know, keep with the food analogy.

There is alot more you can do with twisted wires and easy throw together's then you think...They also offer an improvement in flavor and density. Try a Simple Twisted Helix (Twist wires together and use a thinner wires to follow the path of the twisted. You can sand and polish, you can flatten wire...theres many things that you can try to do to make you build special or different...Just need a imagination and the will to try!

Yes some coils people are using are not they're own and built by someone else...that doesnt stop it from being a nice pic :D

Received griffin today read through this thread so I believe I have the wicking down. Thanks to all that posted their insight . Hey raymo what kind of coils do you sell?
Right now I can offer:
Twisted, Claptons, Fused Claptons (Large, Normal, Micro, Nano)(Ribbon or Round Wire outer Wrap) (2/3 Core), Helix, Twisted Fused Claptons, Twisted Fused Claptons Helix'd, Staples, Framed Staples, Framed Fused Claptons....the list goes on.

I personally feel after Fused Claptons the Flavor and experience doesnt get much better and some of the more exotic builds would costs slightly more due to how much wire and time involved with creating them, the vape quality isnt different-its just the visual appeal.

What is your style of vape? Hot 150+ wattages), warm (60-140W), cooler(low wattage)?
What RTA/RDA are you planning on using the coils on, this would help with what can be used and what would be best also..

@raymo2u - not to hijack the thread or anything, but what would you recommend for flattening twisted wire uniformly? I could always bang on it against the cement floor of the garage with my work hammer, but... that little voice in my head is saying "really, you're going to do that? Really think that's wise?" y'know?

Lol I use a normal Mason hammer and use a Large Wrench to beat them on...I would suggest a Jewelers hammer and anvil though. When you go to flatten it you need to hit very lightly, you need to only flatten it a bit....Over flattening makes the wire break when coiling it.

We go off track on VU quite a bit so dont worry about that...
