Not exactly sure if these are new new to the market, but i recieved an email from imrbatteries.com today for new arrival products.

In their websites product description:
  • Brand: Sony Energy
  • Model: US18650VTC5A
  • Size: 18650
  • Chemistry: NMC
  • Nominal Capacity: 2600mAh
  • Nominal Voltage: 3.6V
  • Discharge: 25A Max Continuous, Rated by Sony as 35A Max Continuous with a temperature limit of 80C
  • Positive: Flat
  • Protected: No
  • Rechargeable: Yes
  • Dimensions: mm x mm
  • Weight: g
So first off, imrbatteries.com claims to do their own battery testing and only shows true discharge ratings dispite what the battery companies advertise them at.

What you guys think? I forgot the name of the guy in this forum that does battery testing maybe someone here can help tag him in this thread. Sony rated the battery at 35A Max, but IMR rated it at 25A Max Continuous, yes i am aware that there are no true 35A continuous 18650 batteries out there in the market and these companies up their specs in the marketing product description, some even say they are reserved specs but im no battery expert, i just know simple battery basics and how not to blow up my hands and face.

(EDIT) Thanks to Rabbit Slayer, (sorry im still new here i dont know how to tag members) for pointing out Mooch and his battery reviews. Here is the link to his testing review on the VTC5A

I have been using Sony VTC3 on all my mechs and Noisy crickets and LG HG2 on my regulated mods. IMR rated the Sony VTC3 at 30Amp but some people here pointed out that they are in fact 25Amp?

If after some testings and/or reviews and both VTC3 and VTC5A are in fact 25Amp Max Continuous, i may wanna make the switch to the new VTC5A for the extra 1000mAh battery life.

What do you guys think?bat-so-vtc5-a__51252.1475012001.1280.1280.jpg
