Wonder if Rich can even see his garden yet?
Yes, the snow is all gone in the garden, most of the lawns (except the deep drifts) and most of the pastures. We even have a greenish sheen across the ground. Of course, the next couple days will tell if we get to keep that situation or if it will all go back to white.

Opened my (beat up) package of raw chocolate from Ecuador this evening....the immigration officers cut into every single package of cacao looking for drugs I assume, what a fucking mess.

Exactly, I can see where they stuck knives of whatnot into every piece....!

Then tossed all the shit into a clear package and wrapped it with packaging tape...I couldn't believe my eyes.

Both of us are about one twist of the tuning key shy of having our guitar strings snap. We don't give up too easily, but the weather is really pushing us this year and I really truly have started to hate anything white.

This next (possible snow) storm has to be the last one of the season I would certainly think....damn

I would certainly hope so because it is real hard to find a cliff to jump off of when you have no mountains. o_O

LOL all I ever saw of that film was the commercials and that was too much
I think there are like 5 or 6 Sharknado movies. Apparently, they got real cult followings. In order to survive watching even one, you must be able to suspend any sense of logic, science, or common sense, but if you can, you will probably laugh your ass off. I stifled myself as thoroughly as possible and was mildly amused (mostly that anyone could even conceive of and make such ridiculous movies), but I have observed others ROTFLHAO...

Was doing my first yard mowing and found a little Garter Snake.
Put it out of the yard.
Also mowed around a big patch of violets that are blooming.
They will have another week or two before their haicut.

31 degrees and snowing at the moment. I didn't go outside, but in the porch light, looks like at least an inch on the ground already.

Don't doubt it....and it just began from what I can read from here.
Yup. Prior to now, it was raining, so the ground is wet and the snow is still sticking instead of melting, so something tells me that walking out to the barn for chores in the morning will not be fun. :(

Don't ya just love Global Warming?

Hey, quick question about Customs: the buttheads who stabbed all your cacao baggies; do they use sterile knives, or is it possible they might have contaminated your chocolate with dirty tools?

Eli is looking into it...I took a video of the package I received with what looks like knife cuts ot hammer hits in every bar. They basically destroyed two kilos of raw 100% cacao I had plans for. I would assume they used the same instrument(s) that were used when they dug into a suitcase full of the other shit that is spelled similar to cacao, or any other illicit drug they run into. This shit is busted up so much it looks like they dropped it on the floor....the shit is hard as a rock, it takes some doing to break one inch thick bars into pieces.

The box the cacao was shipped in was stamped from a cacao association in Ecuador Eli is hooked up with too, the same association which certifies cacao for export other bigtime outfits use to export. The return address on the box was the cacao associations.

It's basically worthless to me, I wouldn't use it for consumption, it's contaminated as far as I'm concerned, that really pisses me off.

Well, the post office obviously will not reimburse you because the package was not lost, and it was not the post office who destroyed your merchandise. Given that the sender was a certified cacao exporter, Customs also had no right to destroy it without a strong reason to suspect drugs, which I am betting they did not have, but it is unlikely you can get anything out of them without a really spendy lawsuit. I hope Eli finds that you do have some recourse.

I doubt we will have any recourse, but I need to figure out how to get the shit here in one piece. Besides flying there and bringing it myself, I don't have any other ideas at the moment. We are in the process of getting our export license in Ecuador, but it's a time consuming bureaucratic ordeal, like everything else. Even after getting an export license, I'm not sure how one would go about stopping the feds from destroying shit if they feel like it. I'm sure there is a way, I'm just not in the know at the moment.

Well, there IS about a foot of snow on the ground this morning, near as I can tell. The wind is blowing pretty good, so there's drifting, and the temp is down to 23, so it's drifting HARD, like cement. Not the usual wet spring snow. This is like a full blown mid-winter blizzard. There's snow EVERYWHERE. The forecast says it's supposed to keep snowing all day today and most of the day tomorrow, so there's no telling how much we'll end up with. It's coming down (sideways, actually) in sheets of fine white flakes. I thought I was being silly last night when I locked the cows in their barn, but now I'm glad I did. There'll still be snow inside, it blows in under the door, but there shouldn't be piles three feet deep in there. At least I hope there won't be. Haven't been out to the barns yet, just outside to potty the dogs, and it's up to Zipper's belly. Missy, who's a bit shorter, was wading through it, but she loves snow, so she was quite happy bouncing around and playing in it. Zipper, not so much. :(

I AM SO DONE WITH WINTER. And I'm pretty sure I heard Zipper say "Fuck this shit" under her breath as she was peeing. Poor old girl.

At least. My guess is that from 11 PM last night through 9 AM this morning, we got close to 18" -- it was knee deep on me and falling inside my boots. There are a couple wind-blown spots with only an inch, but there are also lots of deeper new drifts -- the one in front of the horse barn door was about 5-feet high and I had to dig them a path through that so they could get in before I could feed them. Between Lannie and I, we got the cow barn door open, but closed it again because there was no place the cows could have gone anyway and why leave their door open for more snow to come in? At the current snowfall rate, assuming it continues as forecast, by tomorrow night (when all this shit is supposed to stop), we'll probably have an additional foot. There is no doubt that I have to get the bobcat started this afternoon or we might not make it to the barns for evening chores.

It really needs to hurry up. I did get bob started and cleared a minimal amount of paths -- it was extra difficult because of how wet this snow is (it didn't want to fall out of the bucket, so a lot of it fell on me and I was very wet by the time I finished) and the top soil is warmer than the snow, so my tires were digging canyons in the mud under the snow, and it was snowing in my face the whole time so I really couldn't see what I was doing (luckily I have this property memorized). :) As I said, it was snowing... it has been snowing non-stop all day, but not too heavily, thank dawg, so my guess is that we only got an additional 4-5 inches today. It still has not stopped, so I have no idea how much more we will have come morning.

Oh yeah, comment on Spring: I think this little blizzard just set us back at least another two weeks before this crap clears out of here again. I do not know how many plants are not going to do anything this year because of the snow/cold and starving rabbits eating all the leaf buds, etc.

Didn't see any, but while bob was chugging through the drifts, I kept hearing this sound like dum dum - dum dum - dum dum - dum dum - so maybe there was a Great White SnoShark creeping up my tail pipe...
:D  o_O
