.4ohm dual 13 wraps each on a cheap atty screwdriver with 24 GA wire.

Crappy phone pic
I like those thumb screws, I just put magnets in mine.

Did you do outer wicking? I found it burnt and ended up tasting like dookis wicking that way
Yeah, part of the chimney build is to wick it around, not through the coil. Wicking takes a bit of practice, but once you get it right it works like a charm. Less proved out to be more in this case. Flavor seems more concentrated with the chimney, and air can move more freely. Bitch to build at first, and to be honest im not sure its worth the hassle. I just like building, so i experiment a lot and always try new things.

I enjoy building more than vaping to be honest. I mean I vape 30ml a day but I get more satisfaction makin coils and mods. I'll give it another shot. It was over a year and half since I tried outer wicking. I've improved on so many levels since then. Man was I a noob

Literally tried to take this pic 4 times... Glowed so hard when I pulsed it that the camera wouldn't pick up the image as other than a white spot... Wicked it and tried it but didn't like it. Depressing flavor and clouds for the amount of work.

Wow, that coil thingy is nearly touching the deck...that would go shorting out in a hurry.

Be careful, eh? :)

Actually first one I put in was to close for comfort so I did another and made sure it had an easy 1/8" off the deck. The deck is pretty deep. Still a type of experiment im going to avoid. Thinking I like coils as compared to the weird flats

My first twisted build and kinda weird one . 2 26 g kanthol and 1 24 g kanthol twisted to make a 4 wrap dual coil sleeper. Ohms come out to .1ohm running it in a darkhorse on a ipv3@80watts

Stacked quad coil with 10 wrap 26g at 0.4ohm, nothing fancy lol.
Just got this Helio RDA the other day, and still tryin to find a good build since airflow is only on one side >.<

Just playing around with different ways, twisted 28ga.
Untitled-3.jpg

My homemade coil jig. Made from a metal coat hanger, it comes in at 0.084 which puts it between a 5/64 (0.0781) and a 3/32 (0.0937) drill. I still need to clean off a 1/8 welding rod or a suspended ceiling wire and make myself an 1/8 also for larger coils.

Thought I would put up a great failed experement....looking threw here makes me realize how little and old my vape pictures are...time to update the album....anyways here is a handwound flatwire clapton coil. it's around a .6 single coil build of 8 wraps of .4 flatwire wrapped around 24 gauge kanthal with a ID of 3.2 that is ran on a magma with both airflow holes wide open...optimum power range is 25+ watts

Not bad. It is a warm and dense vape. Good flavor and vapor.

I like simple builds but I can't wait for the after x-mas day sales...my drill got stolen at work so I am going to get another one...I can twist and clapton pretty good by hand but seeing things like that makes me want to go buy more tools and get really crazy

Cleaned and rebuilt my copper TOBH v2 today.
Nope, not taking the patina off the Panzer. The insides are clean, the rest can just get patinated.

So, I needed a build. Went with a DC build of twisted 33awg, 6 wraps each on a 2.4mm screwdriver for 1 Ohm.
Coils are just a bit messy, don't care as long as they work. ;)

Lights up ok...I'll call it "evenly uneven".... :D

Did something weird and wicked it all to the gills with Tencel Knepps. Not the fiber, the Knepps.
Stuff is a bitch to utilize like that, but really works well one it's arranged in there. No more wasted space or TOBH leak.

Pretty....

This build tastes a lot better than the former big/long coil I had in there, heats up faster too. :)

Yes she is C, purdy. Tough build on 33 but I'm sure it fires fast. Tell ya what. It's a lot easier to work with tensioned. Much better chance of it stayin' together after it's fused by pulsing.

I was wondering where all everyone's gone to. Hope y'all are havin' a good one.

Happy Holidays.

I find my DIY twisted 33 is some of my fave wire...just great flavor and it's a good overall resistance too for my tastes.

It was a pretty set of coils until I tried to wrestle them into the damned TOBH with it's hollow posts....
Yeah, I need to invest in some ceramic tweezers...but for now, it'll do. I'm not trying to find vape Nirvana, just to rebuild the damn thing before I throw it away. ;)

I'm happy with those Knepps bits too, they REALLY hold the juice.
After a vaping the 12-15 drops I put in there, the wicking is still pristine...gotta like it.

Hmm, I could swear the coils have tightened up on their own here....

sviDylVl.jpg

Could it be the swelling of the Knepps forcing them to be together and/or more evenly?
Sounds dumb, but without doing anything to them, the coils seem to look better now.

*EDIT*

I think I may have found my answer via Franciscan...the possibility of thermal expansion and contraction evening them out due to the twisted wire.

Maybe this is all vape101 and I just never noticed it before, but it's kinda neat. ;).

I really can't emphasize enough how much tension winding, using Mother Nature's help, can improve our coils and the vape for us. Getting twisted winds, my favorites, into coherence and real adhesion end to end is extremely difficult. But using a pin vise or a gizmo type jig it is possible to get a precise alignment of the knurls in twisted, as in these pics of a rather large diameter build for the Immortalizer…

IMG_0799a.jpg

IMG_0800a.jpg

Having the synchronicity end-to-end as brought by adhesion optimal oxidation of the surface as in a conventional contact micro is possible. Then the efficiency of twisted really goes through the roof.

Hard to stop talkin' about it all the time when you're getting it in the real world.

Best of the Holidays to you C. Good luck.

Can't get enough of this diamond coil, keep going back to it. 26 g wrapped 4 times each for each mini coil, reads at 1.7 Ω. Got it set up on the Zenith, great balance of flavor, vapor & throat hit @ 20 watts. :D
