this is making me feel stupid... no matter how perfectly square I get my drill, I cant get my spin lt to spin... it only wants to do a half spin at a time, far from smooth...
Did you oil it? Does it spin free when you try to spin the peg thing?this is making me feel stupid... no matter how perfectly square I get my drill, I cant get my spin lt to spin... it only wants to do a half spin at a time, far from smooth...
PAPERCLIPSView attachment 68995 so... This is what my first attempt at a fused ALIEN coil 3strand looks like!! Pretty nice huh? I think I fucked up.. couldn't get it right.. only bout a half inch went right.. I realized you caint really "back up" as well as you can on a reg Clapton coils.. gotta find the right tension, speed and patience lol .
Yup. Same problem I had.its like the little triangle loop on the shaft isnt square.

Ha lol. His name is Goku. And he is an asshole.Welcome! Your lizard is funny
I parallel Clapton for all of my staggering. That works for a stagger fuse but not on a ssfc because the clap can't move.
I use the loop method to start my spacing till I get 1" from the chuck. Then I take a clip (strong spring, wide bite wrapped in electrical tape) and clamp it over the spacing leaving my spool wire sticking out of the middle. Then I go full speed down the wire. When I get to the end I leave the clip on and cut my wire. Take some hot glue and hit beside the clip, where I startex with the clip and the middle. Then I cut on the other side of the glue and cut the stick in half through the glue.
The glue keeps it from springing back.
Welcome to Vu mate . I belive im already following you on IG if not ill give u a follow mate. Nice builds/shotsI'm new to this forum. Hello everyone! Here is some of my builds. 6x30g. 38g/ 3x30g, 38g6x.4n80, 6x.4ka1, 2x28g, 38g

Led?You need lighting in the 5000K-5500K wavelength, can grab some E27 5500K Bulbs on Ebay. You can lay Tissue paper or similar diffusing material over the lamp and aim it into your box.
Got a new tool in today taking her for a test drive.

If they are of the same wavelength then LED's work,,just make sure to diffuse the lightLed?
All the cool kids use Hand vises and Ryobi's
I'm not terribly happy with my ryobi tbh but it works I have the small 12v one so it's not all that fast. I'm liking working with the handvise so far small learning curve to start as per usual with any new tools but it works well.

So.. any tips on a staggered fused Clapton? Tricks to make the stagger?
Thanks

Weighted loop that sounds interesting.. does it work well?Weighted loop - finger loop - moving coils - angled spool tamers ....back in this thread all these methods are somewhere or other
Watch Mind_Forge's Tutorial on Youtube...for other methods you really need to practice to get it perfect but the Paraclap method will get it right the first timeSo.. any tips on a staggered fused Clapton? Tricks to make the stagger?

So, ya'll, I'm more than blown away by the artistry and craftsmanship. Q? Do these lovelies vape well?
Dang brotha, way to drop the knowledge on them! Most of them are just challenging builds showing skills learned and more...If you want something that vapes well then there are a few that are great for every setup but you should really have something tailored to what your using. Out of all the builds this year Ive posted Ive maybe vaped 8-9 of them in total...I like a specific vape and when I get it I usually use it until it disintegrates
Think of it this way..
Core Count and core type offer different temps/ramp up characteristics and resistance load. The core is the main factor in how fast the coil lights upm how hot it gets and what resistance it will be in the end..
Outer wrap give you different wicking properties but they all perform better then a naked strand of wire since they hold juice and also act like a heatsink for the surface of the coil letting it ramp slightly slower at the surface so the juice and vaporize more evenly offering "better" flavor. The Increase in surface area also lends to more juice being vaporized, again increasing flavor properties.
The thicker your outer wrap is the more wattage you will need to heat the coil as the outer wrap acts like a heatsink and it can effect the amount of heat a core wire will shed.
The Fused Clapton is a great simple build that gives a great vape experience and almost anyone with a drill or dremel could make them.
The Alien is one of the best vapes there is in just about anything you put it in.
Alien Framed Staples and SSFC I would say are the best vapes depending on materials used/wrap count and coil ID.
Corrugated Builds and Enigma's/Naked Staples and more can be "Spitty" and some are violent due to instant ramp up and how much juice they can actually hold....
Coils arent one sized fits all....you wont get a good experience from a All SS 28g/36g 5 Wrap/3mm ID Alien in a Derringer on a Series Mod but you would in most recent RDAs on a Tube/Parallel Box.
Ive made some posts on just the properties and traits of just the outer wrap and gauge sizes in many threads here....I could write a damn book if going on about every build section, every build type, builds in certain RTA's/RDA's tips/tricks and metal characteristics...Dang brotha, way to drop the knowledge on them!

Can you show me how to use a spool tamer? They won't be here till Monday probably.

Whoa...lot to ponder there. Thanks man...Most of them are just challenging builds showing skills learned and more...If you want something that vapes well then there are a few that are great for every setup but you should really have something tailored to what your using. The more wraps/larger the coil ID you have the higher in resistance the coil is, the higher the resistance the more Voltage you need...lower the resistance the more wattage/amperage you need.
For regulated mods you want to find a sweet spot in resistance for best battery life and how it vapes at a certain wattage.
For Parallel Boxes/Series you need to build the coil specifically to what you want out of it this is where coil building has become more then a hobby but a lifestyle in itself.
The Fused Clapton is a great simple build that gives a great vape experience and almost anyone with a drill or dremel could make them. Using different Core sizes/metal types you can tailor to your specific want without any tricks or special tools...you can also adjust how quickly it will ramp and its peak temp by using thicker or thinner outerwrap.
The Alien is one of the best vapes there is in just about anything you put it in. Its wavy outerwrap actually holds and disperses the juice and it acts like wicking layer over the bare strands underneath. The 3 cores in parallel offer a great amount of heated surface and it rammos pretty quickly.
Alien Framed Staples I would say are the best vapes depending on materials used/wrap count and coil ID. The Outerwrap still keeps the same properties on these coils but the added Ribbon gives more surface area and heats up faster then the round wires so its for people that like a bit warmer/faster ramping vape.
SSFC/Corrugated Builds and Enigma's/Naked Staples and more can be "Spitty" and some are violent due to instant ramp up and how much juice they can actually hold....These can be great vapes but they are also where skilled builders like to show off their talents...they take a ton of time and are not for the impatient!

If you mean overlapping then that's all you bro. You need to lead with the spool a little bit.Is there a similar method for fused claptons? Or would that not work. I'm having trouble with the wire wrapping onto itself. Also what do you use at the other end of the wire to keep it spinning without tightening?

I forgot about that. If you're using fishing swivels it's a great tip. It helped me with my aliens. If your overlapping or back tracking try lowering your swivels a quarter inch and try again if this doesnt fix it entirely then you will need to lead more forward
Next time you make one use 28g frames. 26g is just too much if you don't want to dump power into it.
