Its really good, You can only fit about 4-6 wraps depending on how big the wire is you use (Alien and fused claptons) but it gives a nice hot vape...the machining is beyond perfect..

Nice! I really wanted the Black one but I couldn't find it in stock anywhere (or the Copper one either) and bought the Stainless Steel one instead. Your right tho, the machining is good! I machine for a living and pay really close attention to it :)

It needs to be hot when he coils it so the wire can stretch. Red hot.
But a torch would probably break it too. It would need to be slow.
Crazy though.

This is what happens when you mess up an alien, back it up and save that turd.

Never done that before.
I have!

What size fuse? Looks great. That's the main reason I'm getting the spool tamers. Ribbon stagger frames and staggertons.
I parallel claptoned the Ribbon frames on this one to ensure it was perfect but the Stagger is 38g and the Fuse is 40g.

Is there a difference between Beadalon tamers and the other ones? I think they are just rebadged.

That is one heck of a gorgeous coil. Im still having difficulty getting the second bump to create the "valley" going down it. I can make an enigma with a normal ridge no problem, but getting that second one...so much wire wasted haha

Just think, with all the time Ive explored new builds and tried crazy things...Ive only invented a single build....and Ive only seen one other person replicate it (@Coil_Lab)..

This wire is similar to a Enigma but with a alien design centered, raised and flat, it ends before each frame wire also, I call it Alien Plateau Wire

Also, Im the first and only person to make a successful Alien coil with 50g wire.. ( Single PLY .3R/50g)

IMG_20161213_214720.jpg so... This is what my first attempt at a fused ALIEN coil 3strand looks like!! Pretty nice huh? I think I fucked up.. couldn't get it right.. only bout a half inch went right.. I realized you caint really "back up" as well as you can on a reg Clapton coils.. gotta find the right tension, speed and patience lol .

Yeah, ya can't really back up on alien wire. What I do is just stop, press the triangled wire with pliers to realign them, then continue wrapping.

Ah! Will have to try that tomorrow night ! Thanks :) I learned how to straighten wire and a little trick to hold them together and straight by wrapping a slider on it with 36g so I did learn a few things today. Any more tips would be helpful ! Should I try with a little bigger wire like 30g?

There are several different ways to alien. You gotta find the one that works for you.
Practice a 26g decore over 2x 24g. No more triangle! Doesn't vape as well as4 x 28g though.

I'd make a 2' long decore and cut 3" or so off of it at a time. Practice different stuff on all of them.
For instance you can under stretch and let the drill pull the stretch into it or max stretch and just guide it on. You can get right against the cores, touching them as they turn or get a foot away from it.
34g over 2x 24g is where I started.

With an alien you have to get several things going right at the same time. When you do get them all going right it is fairly straight forward but getting there costs you patience and wire and time. If you get the amount of core stretch, the feed in angle, feed tension and the cores held together right it becomes an easily repeatable method. I have no idea how Ray did it with 50 AWG wrap though, all I know about that is that it isn't something I would ever try to do :D 40 AWG was bad enough, once the wrap wire gets thinner even than that 'any' tension on it messes it up - well if its nichrome80 anyway - maybe there is other wire that won't snap or straighten when its that fine. Then there are practical vape reasons for not doing it like when you put a wire brush on the coils to clean them.....its gonna wreck them ha ha :)

Thanks man I will definitely try 2*24g with my 36g decore I got some 24 kanthal lying around here somewhere.. I think going straight to 3core 26g was a bit to much for my first time lol but what can I say ? Haha

With high gauge stuff I use a bigger decore, under stretch and just hammer the drill after the first wrap.
Speed=good.

Lol crazy ray .. I don't know how he even has the patience for most of his builds.. but it's fun so it's more like determination with the will to coil haha!!

Shorter cores helps when you are learning too, just enough for one coil is much easier to keep from triangling up than 18 inches. And you mess up less wire each time you fail miserably :)
I'm totally backwards on that. I feel like putting 2 4" passes over 10" of wire is easier. Farter away from the chuck and swivel.

If you are past the stage of triangling the cores that is true. When you aren't yet able to get your cores stabilised then longer cores twist more easily. Maybe it depends on your drill, swivels setup a little too as to how twisty it might be.

After getting the technique down, I find 4x 28g to be easier then 3x 26g because you can just loop the swivel with the 28g and bind it really tight till it bunches slightly then smash it flat. Ribbon works great for the binding.

I'm using a Swvl and if I don't pull too hard I can get an alien with little to no twist.

It also helps if your very first wrap is a perfect alien. As the alien goes down the length it will hold the cores flat if you're tension is right.

I once used paperclips and stuff to keep them flat but if there's any slack in the side wires it will still triangle. Before you apply the decore give each wire a little flick to see if they're all tight. If not sometimes you can reposition the wire in the chuck.

If you use Chefs paperclip trick using a paperclip or eyehook in your chuck and make sure its centered. You can hook up your cores all together at the same even tension....you wont experience trianguling/bunching of your cores unless you are under/over stretching and using too much wrap tension. If they are all the same tension you should be able to Alien the length as fast as your drill can go and not have any worry about twisting/bunching...if your pinching the decore as it goes on then you will have more wire twist, you can remedy this byt stretching just a bit more and using much less tension.

If you need something to hold your cores flat the best solution is Ribbon Sliders right now...I have a few things in the works and hopefully they will be made and released soon that will help with aligning cores down a length and a Swivel system that is more affordable, bulletproof and will never warp/wobble if bolted down...

Dont sit and wonder how I do what I do...you can do it too if you invest the time and effort!

And how do u figure out the ohms with those crazy builds? Is there some kind of online tool u guys use or what ? Lol I wanna try different stuff but I don't wanna make a coil with too low of ohms and not be able to use it

0.12ohm using a Hohmwrecker G2.

I don't look it up. After you build enough you get a good idea of how many ply you can use.

And how do u stager uniformly? Do you Clapton the wire and then just stretch it on the core?

That works for a stagger fuse but not on a ssfc because the clap can't move.

I use the loop method to start my spacing till I get 1" from the chuck. Then I take a clip (strong spring, wide bite wrapped in electrical tape) and clamp it over the spacing leaving my spool wire sticking out of the middle. Then I go full speed down the wire. When I get to the end I leave the clip on and cut my wire. Take some hot glue and hit beside the clip, where I startex with the clip and the middle. Then I cut on the other side of the glue and cut the stick in half through the glue.
The glue keeps it from springing back.

Dude can that hohm wrecker really fire down to 0.007?
It has a 45 amp limit. It will fire any coil but you might not have the power you need. It's really nice for coloring and pulsing because usually my coils start at 0.03-0.05 and end up at 0.1ish.

If I'm doing something weird like the helixed ssfc with SS frames I'll go to wire wizard.
Why just for something weird? It works great for almost all build types/combinations.

I just needed to know if I could fire it or not.
It takes a while to punch in a 10 ply stack on WW.
I'm new to this forum. Hello everyone! Here is some of my builds. 6x30g. 38g/ 3x30g, 38g

I can't help but wonder if 30g will work as a frame for a SSFC using 0.4.

When stacking .3 I found using the method that Mind Forge uses is the best. Have you watched his videos?

Yep. I'll get so far and the ribbon collapses. I float the ribbon like raymo does.
I tried floating the frames but I donked it up too. I'll wait some days and get some confidence built back up before I try again.
