Vent, bitch complain or spout off good news! Please be kind and keep politics out of it. So much going on in the world.

bitching about contractors that build shitty ramps for the disabled. Hating that spectrum internet is my only option.

People. Yep, that's all, people.

Well, ... People who allegedly are educated to be doctors not doctoring.

People in local school board positions being petty little pricks.

People who obviously can not drive yet still do.

People who act stupid enough you wish it wasn't against laws for thinning a herd.

Could go on quite a while but won't. Apologies, I'm in a misanthropic funk. Finding that comes and goes more given recent concerns. In general guess I've a FTW attitude. Don't like feeling that, difficult to not feel it at times. So, I often avoid saying much. Have really began not saying as much as I might here and elsewhere. Don't like being a dump truck.

Still think if something like a Purge went on, I would be running around removing warning labels and signs. I would have a gift to myself that kept on giving. And to boot, what I did would be perfectly legal, lawful. Ha ha ha!

Guns guns guns... ugh!

Don't get me wrong. I am a gun owner. Have been since my grandfather gave me a rolling block .22 at the age of 6.

But we are surrounded by people that think a drive to a gun range is too much trouble and they'd rather target practice in their back yard... with semiautomatics...

Yes, we kinda live in the country... a whopping 2 miles from town. And, yes, we live in a rural area of a rural state... still, it upsets my livestock, and my dogs, and (obviously) me.

There... I vented.

I hate people.

90%+ of those I meet are just fake as fuck.

Wife: why don’t you come to family gatherings?

Me: Most of your family don’t give two shits about anyone but family... plus why do I have to go visit them? Why don’t they come down to San Diego? If they can’t be bothered and make effort, fuck em, why should I?

Wife: You’re just an angry man

Me: well I’m sort of getting angry now yah!

Wife: My parents want to come and visit you, they want to see how you’re doing?

Me: What the fuck for? Last I saw them they disliked me cause I spoke the truth they weren’t prepared to hear... ‘til your parents apologize for their actions when they lived with us totally free, and can recite what they did wrong... they can kindly fuck off... forever.

Wife: Sigh

Me: idgaf

Other people:

Random assholes who like to walk 4+ people wide

Random fuck twats in grocery stores pushing carts on the wrong side expecting me to move... I even tell these people... do you fucking drive on the left? Dumb ass

Fuck heads in the fast lane slowing the speed of traffic cause they feel entitled to do -5 the posted limit... these mother fuckers I get in front and empty my washer fluid reservoir on odds are their wipers are shit, makes me laugh

Or those assholes that try to cut in front of me on the off ramp.... I turn my blinker to left and just move out a few inches before they reach me... always causes them to brake and miss the turn... fuck em, don’t like it, don’t give a shit. Hit my car, I’m covered and it’s just a car... you’re going to be late and I have no where to be but home.

There’s more... but yeah it’s late time for bed lol

Oh you gotta love our State leader with his Covid advice.
First! "Masks are utterly useless, nobody needs to wear them"
Next "Masks will save us everybody must wear them"
Next "You can wear masks, bandanas, or anything you like as long as it covers your mouth and nose"
So me and the misses tried some different masks and things and decided that we felt better, her, wearing a semi mask bandana that has loops for the ears and me I felt better with an actual bandana type that I fold over and over to make 3 layers. My wifes ones are 2 layer. We spent $150 on them.
Now our awesome leader says the ones we have are banned and if we dont wear surgical marks we get fined! Seriously!? I just had 2 of the ones I use delivered today and now they are useless.
This guy running our state has lost the plot.
Rant over.

Ah, so at least in an apples to apples sense, leadership going awry isn't an American only happening. I've also heard it is/was rough in Brazil as well. Most oft it boils down to leadership found wanting. Alright enough of that, don't want to go talking of ticks of the many.

I had to throw on an extra blanket betwixt 3 to 6 AM here local, EST. Oddly recall I was dreaming of taking a misty shower at the time. That aside the air holds a chill this morn. Autumn is making itself felt. We still need more firewood split, nowhere near enough for Wintering.

Ahh, we are entering our change of seasons here too. Our mornings are not quite as cold and our days now instead of having to rug up the past week I just wore my sun top, we get real bad UV here, but the ones I have are cool but great UV stoppers. 18c today in the bush.
Still getting frost and fog mornings and as I drive out its just 8 to 10c at 10 to 11 am.
But I'll admit im a sook when it comes to real cold mornings, bit like my old English staffy I had, we both wouldn't budge till the misses put the heater on. :giggle:
Great little dog he was, miss him these days. :)

About the same here of a morning. 8.88 C here presently, 8:20 AM local, EST. My little English terrier mutt "Shrek" is back on the bed in the pile of microfiber blankets. He might have a good example I follow in a bit.

I could have been splitting wood today. Wife's dad benched me. Got a case of "hay fever" crud the last few days. He doesn't want anyone out doing but what they're not "all there". Which I can appreciate. No need anyone getting hurt. There's still a little time for all three of us to be in the wood.

Yeah, must be hay fever cross over there and here. I'v been getting itching eyes and coughing from all the spring flowers coming out here. Our front lawn is covered in dandelions right now. Night now but I'll take a picture tommorow off them all.
Go and check the mail and come back coughing and sneezing for ten minutes after it and washing my eyes to stop from scratching and rubbing them.
We once lived in a farm house in the bush and only had an open fire for heating so I remember well having to go and saw down dead trees and cut them up, chop and split them. Hard work for sure. Back then I just had a car, no trailer, an Aussie Torana sports type car with roof racks. Would cut trees down then bring 2 big lengths back to the house at a time on them to cut, chop and split. Glad where we are now we have Gas hearting I can tell you.
This is a picture, not mine but the exact one I had, an LX. Mine was a special build better than this one from Aussie Holden. It was awesome, went better and faster than the general public built ones. Guy I got it from worked for GMH here and they did a rare build job for him. Wish I still had it because it now would be worth the price of a house easy. Was a 1 of a kind. Threw you right back in the seat yet got, and 100% true, 5 litres per 100ks fuel economy no matter how you thrashed it. I once got an electrical light problem fixed and the guy said "where on earth did you get this thing? Iv never seen this before" :giggle:
I was young and stupid though and sold it years later for .......$1000.

Run a wood stove here. Use a hydraulic splitting ram. Still doesn't make it any less taxing. Well maybe that you need not swing a maul. Trust, I would use a 7.25kg maul for some of the oak, hickory we've been splitting. Trying a go at it with a bit axe would be untenable. Wind up popping bit axe handles all day. *chuckles*

That does look a nice car. Can imagine it would fetch a house, now. Almost puts me in mind of something like, ...

We bought a few rewashable masks and when we went to the hospital yesterday we weren't allowed in until we swapped them for provided disposable masks. Why did we wast our money on reusables? The surgical masks were much cheaper. Figure it out people! Im not buying any more masks!

So the wife and I just moved about two weeks ago. We had to catsit for the first two weeks.

I say this as a cat lover- I hated that little bitch.
She kept trying to start shit with my cat who is a big old man kitty. He would just bat her away. Still that little bitch cat was climbing all over everything.
On my cutting board, the island, my prep station. So glad her momma picked her up this morning. Bye bye little bitchy cat.

WINDOWS FUCKING 10

See why the last Windows I used was Windows 98?

After Windows 3.11 for Work groups all configuration files got moved to inaccessible "registry". Up until then you could control each program with .ini files. Linux still allows similar control via .config files.

Both types of these files were text based files. You could hash code your configurations to ensure nothing malicious occurred. You could in effect actually secure Windows.

Once Windows switched over to the registry format users lost all control. Even the End User License set out further restrictions. You could not decrypt the programming code used to create registry files. Doing so violated "trade secret" laws. So users could not control their systems, yet anyone capable of coding could transfer malicious software to you.

And yes, Windows is wide open and bloatware. So, over a decade ago I stopped using it. My wife soon followed suit but kept an old Windows NT version "just in case". Soon she realized she liked Linux better and Windows left us.

Now, I'm considering putting Haiku on a system. Why? Just to try it out and see if it suits like Linux.

We dont bother with lawn. Our water costs a fortune where we are and trying to keep one alive during our summers would cost easy $1000 plus. Just watering, which we dont do now, 2 small fruit trees several yrs back added $400 to our water bill that year. Expensive fruit!

Linux isn't without its own unique set of limitations. For starters, a lot of modern hardware doesn't offer proper, full-fledged driver support for Linux. Secondly, I have a whole list of software installations and software tools/utilities on Windows that, due to complex features I need, are impossible for me to replace with worthy Linux alternatives. Whereas Windows 10 annoyances are still relatively easy for me to work around or eliminate with settings and various custom tweaks/optimizations, tools, special software, etc. so... I have absolutely no need for another OS. That is, besides Android on my phone. If you've never used Windows 7 or 8.1 or 10, then you simply have no idea what a modern Windows environment can actually be like. I get that not everyone needs specialised modern hardware or complex advanced software functionalities. But personally, I, depend on Windows compatibility for reasons far beyond that which the average PC user can typically learn to understand.

Damn, @~Don~ ! I thought about this a thousand times every time you post but you just solidified it. You and my hubby are SO TWINS it ain't funny. I mean, I can hear his voice saying just what you just wrote. It's eerie! Our sweet dog Rosie even hides in my office, waaaay in the back, when he's on a rant or just spewing because he lost a pen he was using 5 min ago. But you're better lookin' though. He looks like Howdy Doody.

Dude, I come here to relax and tune out his fucking bull shit. THEN, here YOU are. No, no. No need to apologize. I know you won't anyway.

She lied, stabbed me in the back, then tried to fuck me over. Yesterday, I gave our associate manager 2 ideas for chickie's new shift. She hated them, trying to list reasons they wouldn't work, but associate manager loved them, so she has to do them now. OUR boss, told her to her face he doesn't trust her, that alone helped some. When she does return to our shift, she's on a short leash, according to him, though several of us hope she doesn't come back.

I'm not trying to win, anything, we do still have to deal with each other, but if I can help make her day a little less pleasant, I'm ok with that. I'm not normally a vindictive person, but dammit, she really fucked me. Just faking my way through the few hours I do have to deal with her, because MY boss asked me to. He's got my back, I can do that for him.

So, now I'm kinda like Don. PEOPLE. Not all people, but, people.

I don't have much choice. This is a work machine. I requested a new one because I'd just worn the old one out.

I'll be ok once I get used to it. The Registry has long since stopped being a source of discontent for me - it's just a part of life and has been for a long time now. There have been a couple of very decent versions of Windows since 98 - Windows XP was really good, and Windows 7 was mostly good. Windows 10, however, is a bloated POS. It just does whatever it wants to do. And the problems aren't just the OS. The machine itself is trying to drive me batshit crazy. I am emulating a 5250 keyboard, and the damn function keys don't line up with the number keys. I had to go into the BIOS, believe it or not, to disable the Fn keys they have that obscure function keys 13 through 24. I feel like knocking heads together.

But it's a hoss of a machine, 17" laptop, so I can actually read my work screens a bit better. That was a big problem on the smaller machine, and it may get worse as I get older. So that is one thing I can't complain about. I'll get used to it.

Ohh and a gripe. Just got an email from
amazon thinking me for choosing amazon day for delivery. You know selecting one of the 2 days a week for delivery...
Was wondering why my Prime order was late.
And I did NOT select that option for amazon day delivery.
So apparently is was a default I did not catch somewhere in the payment process.
Have been waiting a few days on a couple of hard drives and interface boards...

How the fuck you supposed to buy clothes that may or may not fit without trying them on. (11 year old son). Then tell me there's a no return policy on clothes. They didn't take to kindly to him dropping his pants in the clothing section or my loud fucking mouth. When they decided to scold him about it. If anyone yells at my kid, it's gonna be me. Like sir we may have to call the law. I wish a motherfucker would.
The other parents didn't like me calling out their fast ass daughter for wearing shorts shorter than my sons boxers. . Wrong day madafakas.

So glad the kids had their first week at a new school. Both of them actually enjoyed it. It sounds like a small thing; but, compared to the last school and the way they felt there, this is a an awesome thing- a bigly awesome thing!

We get Jimsonweed here and Johnson grass here. Then on top of it we got all kinds of deciduous and coniferous trees. The pollen haze in the air could almost be cut with a knife at times.

We also get multi-flora roses which are a serious pain the bum to try getting gone. Know one year we burnt it, gassed it, salted, pulled up root. It still come right back the next year. The stuff has terrible thorns on and can wind up creating a bramble patch quickly.

My ten year olds birthday was today. As our family tradition stands the birthday person picks the meal. He wanted Harry Buffalo. It’s a chain restaurant; which, I normally would veto. Since it’s his birthday and he hasn’t stopped jaw jacking about it for weeks, we went.
Holy shot do I hate chain restaurants! It took an hour and 20 minuted to get drinks, and we were one of 5 tables in the entire place.
We only stayed because- birthday.
Did I mention I hate chain restaurants?
I spent over 20 years in the restaurant business, and I was ready to behead a motherfucker.
it took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get apps to the table and 2 hours and 20 minuted to get entrees to us.
We spent at least an hour with empty glasses.

I do badly wanted to roll my ass to the kitchen, pull a Gordon Ramsay and teach those assclowns how to restaurant.

It kills me when I see a place run like a Mecca of lazy; especially when it’s a place that doesn’t do any real cooking.
How ducking hard is it to reheat frozen food??!?!

Confession: The thing that will send me into batshit crazy ORBIT is for restaurant food to be wrong. Fast food, expensive food, I don't care.

I told my husband, when the kids were little and we half lived on damn fast food, that the next time I stopped at the Burger King drive through, I was just gonna say "I've got ten bucks, just throw me some shit in a bag," because that's what I'd end up with anyway when I got the mess home.

And why in god's name anybody would wait for two hours for ANYTHING from some of those chain places is beyond me. Bird, you're a lot damn nicer than I am. Birthday or no birthday, we'd have been out of there.

Hope your kids appreciate you.

It became a thing where we just don’t want the kid to have an epic meltdown.
mine of those moments where you have to decide which bill are you willing to die on.
Because I spent so long on the industry I’m usually rather forgiving, this was far beyond any capacity to forgive. I had some choice words before we left; and, I’ll never step foot in there again. I may call the district manager just to let him/her know that they need more microwaves at that location and people that can push buttons.

mine of those moments where you have to decide which bill are you willing to die on.
Because I spent so long on the industry I’m usually rather forgiving, this was far beyond any capacity to forgive. I had some choice words before we left; and, I’ll never step foot in there again. I may call the district manager just to let him/her know that they need more microwaves at that location and people that can push buttons.

it's not funny, but it's one of those truths that are so ridiculous you can't help but laugh.

When Covid is over, y'all come down to Williamsburg and have dinner at Food forThought. It will restore your faith in humanity.

You're a good guy, Bird.

Lucky I wasn't there at the time. Broke foot, warts and all as I'm so broke down they would have been taught what it meant to move. (WWE Announcer voice)"Oh no, he's beating the cook with his crutches, ah .... oh my gawd one went sideways where? Oh no, parents guard your children's eyes!"

Seven hours for a meal? F*** me runnin'! I would have least had words with the management. The words would have been simple. "I'm telling 100 friends how bad you treated us. Guess what? You just lost a thousand customers. Now, my meal is on the house and have a nice day."

Yes, I know I say praise in public but condemn in private. It is not hypocritical of me, or a double standard to know dealing with food is another matter. It is different and public attention is warranted for bad service or goods in food.
