How was the lawn mowing em?

(In my most snide, sarcastic voice possible)
"How was the lawn mowing em?????".......

How about ....."ohhhhhh....Hawk.....looks like you need your yard mowed. Let me get that for you!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Unlike em.....I'm definately,.....without a doubt......mowing topless today.
In fact....my neighbors will be lucky if I don't take my shorts off.

105-120 heat index today. Actual temps a round 100 but the dew point will be pushing 80.

"How was the lawn mowing em?"..........really?????
One shouldn't be concerned with how young, hot chicky-babes are doing on the mowing front.
One should be concerned about ol' Hawk.

Gotta go mow....then fight the local govt. to do their job.
Putting up a fence so Herk and our adopted knuckle can just run and poop at will.
Called for a "dig safe"..."locate"...or whatever it's called. 1 utility out of 5 did their job of marking my site.
Called in a "no response" ticket on the other 4 utilities and they are required to do their job or contact me within 2 hours.
No markings....no contact....

I can see me being a REALLY big asshat on the phone later. I've been pretty patient, but today is day #4 beyond my start date. And I've got a 'tude....and its hot....and I've got a wee bit of pent up rage that needs to be purged.

Damn knuckles.

How high a fence do you need for Herk'?
I'd say to go with vinyl - no painting, no termites, but it only comes in white and you can't electrify it. . . . .

I am very concerned about you, @Hawkizefan!! With your delicate constitution, that weather could be deadly for you. Please be careful!
Please be sure to wear a hat!!

Damn young'uns and their dime fetishes.
When I was a kid, we walked uphill, against the wind, in snow up to "here", both ways, for a dirty penny.......and we we THANKFULL for that.

Young 'uns, Thanks fer the compliment!

This kiddo remembers scavenging RC cola bottles to return for the 3 penny deposit and then buyin penny candy at the TG&Y.

I was making more stealing old glass bottles 50 years ago, than y'all want to pay for real work... Sheesh!

But now that I think about it, this job sucks, will you pay travel expenses ?

I have no idea what the name of the store was, but 6 bottles turned in and I came out with a small brown paper bag full of candy! Thought I was rich! It was just a small, family operated store...precursor to the 7-11 I suppose.

We lived on a military base for the first years of my life and it was safe to walk all over. I remember the Saturday matinee. I could get a few hours of movie and newsreels and enough trash food to get me good and sick for about a quarter.

Good memories!

Too bad our kids didn't get to experience that.

So true. We could go all over base or all over Colorado Springs on foot or on our bikes and never worry about being accosted. I know there were "bad guys/gals" out there, but it seemed as though they were few and far between. Stan had the same experience in Denver metro area when he was a kid. Them were some good childhood days. Lots of exercise, lots of exploring and ... yeah, even getting into a bit of trouble now and again.

I remember the same growing up in Long Beach, we would ride our bikes for miles and when it was too far to ride we would take the bus, all by ourselves. On Halloween our parents would sit on the front porch and give out treats while we went trick or treating.
Hell it's not safe for parents to do that now, much less kids under 10.

Dear old dad liked horehound candy. I rank it right up there with licorice. ***shiver***
I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties, Taki. Inner peace, it is important so don't let anyone steal it.

Thanks all, this has been something I should have seen coming, the underlying issues have been around for months. Previous Friday I went home early because I knew I was reaching my boiling point. Still sent out an angry email essentially saying one of the projects I work on is a complete disaster because I only get proactive help from one other person on the team. Told the department lead I am physically and emotionally drained and am seriously considering my role with the company. Went home for the weekend and ended up getting in a fight with my family as well. Came in Monday thinking I could just man up and power through it, nope, 15 new tickets in the support queue. Went out on a vape break with my supervisor and basically told her the same thing as I told the department lead, I don't know how much longer I can do this. It was as that point she told me I had to take a week off (no email, IM's anything).

Had a week off, had some time to think things over. Slept a lot with J. I've never had issues like this before in my professional career so I'm not sure what comes next. But the elephant in the room is out there now so we'll see what happens.
