Thanks all, this has been something I should have seen coming, the underlying issues have been around for months. Previous Friday I went home early because I knew I was reaching my boiling point. Still sent out an angry email essentially saying one of the projects I work on is a complete disaster because I only get proactive help from one other person on the team. Told the department lead I am physically and emotionally drained and am seriously considering my role with the company. Went home for the weekend and ended up getting in a fight with my family as well. Came in Monday thinking I could just man up and power through it, nope, 15 new tickets in the support queue. Went out on a vape break with my supervisor and basically told her the same thing as I told the department lead, I don't know how much longer I can do this. It was as that point she told me I had to take a week off (no email, IM's anything).

Had a week off, had some time to think things over. Slept a lot with J. I've never had issues like this before in my professional career so I'm not sure what comes next. But the elephant in the room is out there now so we'll see what happens.

Hang tough buddy. Good and calm thoughts headed west for you!

Not my place to chime in, and me being a dumbass and all, but if I may.....
A job does not define you. Heart and soul....how you treat others(and yourself) define a person.
Jobs will come and go....and $$$$ is way over rated. I figured this out way too late in life.
If this all works out and you're happy...then good. If it doesn't then you have the opportunity to do whatever makes you happy.

Spend more time cuddling and playing with the pup. Stare at clouds and try to figure out what they look like.(I always see topless, hot chicky babes on lawn mowers.....for some odd reason). Look for ufo's, ghosts and Bigfoot or any other stupid thing. But never let a job drag you down. It's not worth it.

This is hard to read. I want the best for you and this does not sound like the best (profound statement of the obvious?). Let me know if I can do anything. I have broad shoulders, I can handle some of your troubles as well as mine. Talk it out with anyone who will listen and not try to "fix" it (unless they are your sups who have the power to help). Talking really does help.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.
I'm somewhat in a job quandary myself. Being the head board cutter isn't what it's cracked up to be....lol.
I left my last job because I was tired of 12+ hour days......21 days without a day off....traveling...etc....
Now I like the job ok and I know exactly when and how long I'm working but I'm making right at 1/3 $$$ that I was before. I'm always kinda looking but at this point in my life I'm going to be picky. I'm 4 miles from work. 12 minute commute instead of 45.

That was my work as well. Working on the road a lot, 14-16 hour days of grueling work. Gave it up for a job that paid 1/4 of what I was used to, but was close to home. It wore on me; I was used to being the boss, but was then seen as just a worker, or a threat to those above me. I'm so lucky I had the chance to become a stay at home dad, but I have no idea what I'll do for income once the boys are in school. It's scary, so I try not to think about it much for now; still have a few years now that we have a new baby.

Great advise though! Too many people feel like their work defines them and their worth. I've been one of them.

Just push mowed two yards in this damn heat and humidity.

I'm awesome!
Believe it or not, I miss my little yard and little push mower. It was a labor of love.

You are awesome, 22.
Hopefully you got done before the real heat set in. It's bad here, I can only imagine how much worse it must be further south. The tulle from your tutu must really stick to you in this weather.

Morning, Knucks.

98° with 113 heat index here. Grass mowed, shrimp peeled and deveined, catfish cleaned, slaw and hushpuppies made and fryers set up. Shouldn't take long for the oil to come up to temperature. Grandsons want to swim at the subdivision pool before dinner. Told them bring soap and they won't have to worry about baths tonight. Pool temp at 11am was 87° (alt 0186 glow!)

Thanks! I won't remember but I am going to print a list one of these days. You made me smile!

What time is dinner? Should I bring anything?

6pm and come hungry. Oldest grandson (9) will eat leftover catfish for breakfast and I planned on kolaches in the am. More the merrier and no left overs!
I was gonna bring wine but I think I will use our HUGE iced tea jar and bring that. Sounds like a fun time. Alas, I am restricted to the house with three chores:
1. Go through mom's stuff from the "home" and see what will be donated and what will be kept.
2. Clean all mouse/rat droppings, disinfect all lower cupboards/drawers in kitchen and bathroom, spread mouse/rat poison EVERYWHERE the dog cannot get her inquisitive lil nose. Oh and drop some roach bait and spray some insecticide in same areas, and baseboards and all over me.
3. Tear apart the bedroom, wash EVERYTHING from the bed, bag everything else in black bags and put in cars so the heat will kill the BED BUGS that must have come in with the roaches after our stay in the beautiful TX hotel last month. Encase the mattress after spraying, spray bed, and everything else with wonderful bed bug spray and powder after it dries. Oh yeah, dry everything on high heat for an hour or so. My electric bill is gonna be sky high!

I need a cat. The rodent issue is way out of hand. I have to find a way to keep the dog food bowl out of reach. They are stealing it at an alarming rate. We are near horses, hay barn, ditch that provides water to most of this area etc. Normally I keep on top of this but since I have been working it seems to be too much for us. The rats are new this year and more disgusting than the cute little, destructive mice.

I cannot believe I am fighting these bugs. Never, ever have I had a roach or a bed bug in my home. I am not a good housekeeper anymore but I am not dirty. I know, I know, even clean houses get these things. Just makes my skin crawl. Takes my mind off mom at least.

Unfun and then some. Good luck with all that glow.
I am planning to give it a good try and then follow up treatments. If it doesn't work, my house will be donated to the local fire department for training exercises then I will rebuild on the ashes. Sounds like a good plan to me!

This is just really unbelievable. I live in CO partially because our cold winters are natural bug killing things. With all of this going on, I might as well live in TX!! Oh, wait, that was where I stayed in the hotel that I believe gave me these lil critters!

Could be much worse. I could have a huge infestation. I think I have gotten on this pretty quickly. We shall see.

Glowest - I hope you posted a bed bug review for the hotel stay. Don't forget luggage in black bag tossed out in the yard. We have Vexcon (Billy the exterminator guy) in the area. They take care of unwanted critters from squirrels, 'coons (is it okay to type that?), gators and rats. Neighbor had infestation of bees recently. He discovered them when he kept seeing a sticky yellow substance oozing through sheetrock in an unused back bedroom. Vexcon to the rescue. There are bound to be similar types in your area...not bees but exterminators.

We do have many of them. However, all the work that is needed before they come in is the hard part. Wash everything or at least get it in a very hot dryer for 30-60 minutes. Our bedroom is small (the whole house is small!) and it is 24# of stuff crammed into a 5# bag. Once I get everything out, washed/dried, vacuumed etc. all I need to do is spray, encase the mattress, dust with DE and remake the bed. I can't afford professional help. I am still out of work with my back slowly improving and Stan has been home for two weeks for Mom's funeral and a raft trip that he is the planner/cook for. Money is not plentiful right now!

I wish I could narrow it down to the hotel. I just cannot think of any other way to get the bed bugs. No new or used furniture has come into the house. The roach I found? That probably hitchhiked in on a bag of potatoes, dog food or any number of things. Haven't seen anymore but I am not taking any chances. Full court press against them as well!

Someone better check that baby for fleas and ticks before bringing her in the house.
LOL! We had fleas once...not that common in Colorado. Stepdaughter brought in a kitten that had them. Actually, they were pretty easy to get rid of. Ticks? We have lots of those but haven't seen many despite all the mountain fun I have had while living here. Not saying that we didn't have to do tick checks and take care of any we saw. Just not a huge issue.
